“Paradise”

We spent wonderful days at the lodge. Howard, the GM and his whole staff did everything to make our stay memorable. Before we even thought about a wish, someone was there to fulfill it. Thanks to Bfirst Travel Sydney for sending us to that paradise island. The food was very good, the service awesome. We especially liked the buffet on Saturday evening with the specialties from Nicaragua.
At the Jicaro Island Ecolodge you can really forget about everything and enjoy your holidays. We'll be back, that's for sure.

“Fantastic experience at Jicaro Island Ecolodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We stayed three nights at this wonderful place. Rustic, peaceful, relaxing, beautifully situated in las isletas de Granada - the 360 or so mostly small islands near Granada. The food was excellent, served in the open air restaurant overlooking the lake. The architecture, materials and layout of the place - restaurant, casitas, pool, etc. - are stunning. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We took a guided trip through nearby plantation, forest, and lagoon - the young guide - Julio - was very knowledgeable and spotted lots of birds and other small animals that we wouldn't have seen. We had a wonderful timing just hangout out at this small island lodge, as well as kayaking in the area near and in between some of the other small islands. This is a place we definitely want to go back to. Mist other people staying there are couples, but our teenage daughter enjoyed it just as much as we did.

“An oasis - luxury in the midst of a beautiful nature reserve”

We spent 4 nights over New Year in this beautiful retreat. With 9 beautifully appointed cabins, a 5 star restaurant and lovely pool, we found Jicaro to be one of the most relaxing lodge we have ever stayed at. Management and staff are well trained, incredibly customer focused and delightful to deal with. They insured a truly 5 star experience from the moment we landed on the island until we left. I love that the island is small enough for guests to swim around it in less than 20 minutes. Whenever I paused for a moment, I was able to admire the many birds - king fishers, eagles, cormorants, parrots and many others. Jicaro is at the edge of a bird reserve, yet only 15 minutes by boat from historic Granada. The water tower also acts as a magic outlook. I went up there early in the morning to watch the sunrise and observe morning active birds.

I highly recommend Jicaro - in most other country such a lodge would cost more than twice as much and be booked out for months ahead. We even used the laundry service (which we very rarely do) as the price was lower than our home wash service. Amazing - a real find.

Room Tip: Each cabin has the same layout. They are very comfortable (1 large king size bed and a sofa couch do...

“Wish we had longer!”

What an amazing getaway! My husband and I spent two nights of our honeymoon at Jicaro, and sure wish we had longer. A beautiful and peaceful getaway ... with AMAZING food and staff. The casitas (very luxurious cabins) were just lovely and falling asleep and awakening to the sounds of tropical birds was amazing. Also, the massages were fabulous.

If you're looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle, this is your place. If you want to return to the hustle and bustle, it's only a quick boat ride to Granada and it only took us 1 hour + to get to Managua.

We LOVED Jicaro and hope to return.

“Like no other”

After taking a brief 15 min put-put boat ride to our island oasis, we were greeted by 6 staff members smiling and waving, and bearing a delicious, cool drink for our arrival. This island only has 9 casitas, so you can imagine the privacy you can enjoy, here. Private chef for the island, all food included (one night we ordered the rum caramel chicken dish--what what?!), and the alcoholic beverages were a steal at $4-$5 each. I cannot begin to tell you the impact this place has made on our lives. To know a place like this even exists is like something from a movie or a very good dream. The staff is professional, humble, and so friendly. Our own little two-story home was so much fun to explore and get cozy in. Night time turn-down service was such a treat. The tours offered were also top notch. We took a speed boat out onto Lake Nicaragua, saw a ton of islets ranging from little huts to mansions, to monkey infested islands :) Even had a chance to take a dip in the lake off the back of the boat. I have a few more spots I must visit before returning to Jicaro, but on my life, I will return. This place was a dream.
