Fattoria Poggiarelli is a nice little gem of a find. Sitting atop a hill, just beyond the town of Greve-in-Chianti, the villa is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. The view in all directions was spectacular. We had a two story, two bedroom apartment, with the downstairs consisting of a kitchen and dining/living area. It was HOT, especially for June, but the thick, farmhouse walls served up wonderful, natural cooling. The buildings and grounds are wonderful. Our apartment was plain, but served us perfectly (two teenage boys can make things different during a long international vacation). The terrace and pool served as perfect locations for morning coffee and evening wine. Greve, itself served as a perfect place for food from the local grocery or restaurants in the piazza. Check out the market in the piazza on Saturday mornings. We were able to drive all over the region from here, and still make it back in time to catch sunsets while sipping wine. This place isn't fancy, but the rates were fantastic and the staff was friendly and helpful (especially when son no. 2 left behind some valuables). Give this place plenty of consideration if visiting the area.
