Stayed here 3 nights at beginning of December, We booked the Alexandra hotel but due to it closing for winter refurbish I believe, We were placed at roc leo, Good move actually as we preferred the location of the Leo, As in the other reviews I can confirm Not a bad 3* hotel, Good location, Nice staff not rude, We were bed & breakfast, Now the breakfast isn't that special and I would agree with the earlier review by RoelvdB that the bread was old, I'm sure they buy the left over bread that is a couple of days old from a 4* hotel up the road as in 2011 no bakery is that bad, The bacon is 3/4 fat and as in other reviews catered mainly for German guests, My main gripe about breakfast was it is only lukewarm and bordering on cold, Its not that we went late for breakfast as being early risers each morning we were waiting in reception for the doors opening and boy do you know the doors open as to say 90% of the hotel guests were German pensioners they ran in from nowhere like mad cattle and didn,t care who was in there way, Given a choice I would not have breakfast at the Leo and eat out but breakfast was in the price and guess i'm one of those that can't let go as its paid for, I'm sure any more than 3 nights I would have boycotted breakfast at the Leo and ate at a cafe,
Rooms basic but clean and what was fantastic were we had what seemed to be brand new mattresses, very comfy, I say mattresses as they are 2 singles pushed together, We were on the top floor - 5Th and over the pool and had a nice sea view, Its worth an email to the hotel to request one of these rooms, Room 501 to 513 although from room 501 views would get better 513 being the best of all, We had 509 and I was happy, From the balcony you can see the planes take off, Not too close for comfort tho and didn't disturb us, they only take off from 6.30am and with door shut I don't think it would wake anyone,
3 lifts at the hotel and if you all breath in you can just about get 4 people in seriously! but thankfully there is 3 of them,
As it was December at lot of bars were shut for winter but there was still some good ones open, Recommended is: walk to the beach turn right and you will see a German bar, Iv lost the name of it but you can't miss it on the right up a few steps, Helga & Udo own it and what a polite and welcoming bar, Highly recommended, They also do very good food at a reasonable price, The next bar you come to is the Tattoo blues bar, They do tattoos at the rear in the day time only but don't let that put anyone off, Also very welcoming and the owners father keeps you supplied in nibbles, breads cheese and nuts etc The frequently have live music on, Nothing too loud, ! night they had a couple of Blues guitarists on and they were good, The next bar we found was owned by a man and wife from Sheffield That was called Rat Pack bar, you will see it behind KFC, Another nice one was Le Ancard or something similar and that was right round the bay near the little marina, Even in winter there is enough open in Can Pistilla some great cake shops that stay open very late and if Beer and a cake is your thing then you will love it, You will find all these and more a steady 10 minute stroll down the front from the Leo but remember turn right at the beach as we found nothing to the left,
The Bus service is very good in Can Pastilla As in other reviews you will see from the airport bus number 21 and get off at either the hotel El Sid or the next 1 which is the Java The bus has a Led that displays the next stop plus an announcement, All he drivers seem OK and would put you right at 2 euro its brill and only 10 Min's, We chose a Taxi on arrival as we just missed a bus, they have a price set of no more than 13 euro to can pastilla but that may differ in peak season,
We did get the bus back to the airport as its so convenient, The hotel told me what time the 21 came and sure enough it was there,
For Palma bus, same bus stop out of back of hotel and cross the road and go left or right and both bus stops are only a minute walk,
Bus 15 is the best every 10 Min's and is only 1.25 euro, It takes you into the heart of palma where it terminates, you can get the number 15 from the same place for your return, There is a number 25 that does the same route but not as often and a number 30 but does not go right into palma,
I would stay at the Leo again
