We booked a last minute trip to Mallorca. We (as a young couple) didn't had a lot of money to spend so that's why we booked this trip. As we thought we might bump into a dirty hotel, we were suprised by the size of the building. With our Hotel Voucher, we checked in very easy and fast. In 5 minutes we were send up to the 3rd floor to our room.
The room was very small, so was the balcony and the bathroom. As it was very warm in the room and it wasn't getting any cooler in the night, we asked the receptionist to arrange a ventilator. Next day we found a electric fan, which made it a bit more comfortable at night. Because it gets so hot we couldnt sleep. So now we had a fan that kept us cool.
The beach is a 5 minute walk, so are the restaurants and the boulevard. That was nice.
Just around the corner you can find a busstop. The busstop across the street can take you to the city Palma. And the busstop more close by can take you to S'arenal or the Water entertainment park. A busticket costs 1,25 euro per person per ride. Which is very cheap.
Everyday breakfast was the same kind of buffet. Fat bacon and fat scrambled eggs. The first morning we liked it. But eating this every morning for a week makes you feel a little bit sick. So after a few days we went out for breakfast. As for dinner (which was in the sisterhotel Anfora close to the beach) the food wasn't that good either. We got the idea it wasn't fresh and the potatoes/meat contained a lot of fat. One positive thing was that they changed the buffet everyday. So you never had to eat the same as the day before. As well they also have vegetarian dishes. You've to pay for the drinks. Also in the end of the week we went out to eat because the food was or too fat or too dry (salads). If you weren't early for dinner, you might had to wait for a table. Some people were very pissed off and just walked away. As much the employees were not very polite in the anfora hotel.
The employees of the anfora beach hotel aren't talkative or chatty. But it's not that they are very rude either. When you have a question they answer very short and they don't smile or look into your face when they answer. When you speak english, keep it simple english. They do speak better spanish and german than they do speak english. They have a 24 hour reception and bar.
The rooms were kept tidy and clean. Though the furniture is old and crappy. But we were already glad that we found our beds made up and got clean towels every day.
I'm not very positive but also not very negative. Don't go here if you want a fancy hotel. Pick a better hotel for honeymoons, romantic trips or family holidays. For us it was more of a hostel but with your own small room and bathroom. Because you have to bring your own soap and other bathroom stuff. They only provide the towels.
It's perfect for youngsters, students, travellers who are travelling cheap etc.
Not okay for disabled and handicapped people. People with children.
We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel for fun, only to shower and to sleep.
