We - five friends travelling together in late October - warmly recommend the place both for its location and its qualities. Tesserete is a pretty village located in a wonderful valley with an abundance of exceptional walking opportunities. The village itself is beautiful, with several nice buildings and restaurants. Villa Capriasca is located a 5 minute walk from the city center in a pretty and quiet area dominated by gardens and impressive villas. The hotel is relatively simple, but very clean, the building looks good, the garden is beautiful, views from the balconies are delightful, it is nicely furbished and most importantly - it has the kind of impeccable, personal service which is all too rare these days. We think that Villa Capriasca is one of the best choices for a holiday in the Lugano region.

We came across this small hotel by chance. It calls itself "Hotel Garni", i.e. without a restaurant, although it looks (and feels) more like an upscale B&B -- it has just nine rooms. Villa Capriasca is at the top of a steep back street at the edge of the village of Tesserete (a 5 minute walk from stores, restaurants, etc.), and the setting couldn't be calmer. The place is immaculate, and there are a lush garden and a small pool. The proprietors are very kind and nice, and offer helpful advice as well as a more than adequate breakfast. I would particularly recommend the hotel and the area in general for hikers and mountain bikers, but its proximity to Lugano (20 minutes away, there is a frequent bus service) makes it a recommendable choice for anyone.
