“Lack in Luxury...Make up in Service”

The hotel staff is awesome. We made a last minute reservation and they were very accommodating. No A/C in hall, but we used the stairs. No problems.

Room Tip: Have a dialogue with the front desk. Tesh is AWESOME!

“Second Time Staying Here and It Was Absolutely Great Both Times”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

I commend this motel! This is the second time staying at the Econo Lodge Oceanfront and we enjoyed our stay greatly. The rooms were spotless. My sister always brings a can of Lysol when we stay in hotel rooms and she said that she felt like she did not have to use it in this room. We were very comfortable with the cleaniness of the room. The staff were very friendly and helped make it a pleasurable stay. The parking is very tight but so is every hotel in Va Beach. The attendant was very helpful parking the cars. All the staff were very attentive. The pool was clean and the temperature for the heated pool was just right. If I had one complaint, it would be that I think the room was a little overpriced but overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

“Great value for a clean, comfortable, ocean view room. Would definitely stay again!”

After making a last minute decision to take a trip to VA Beach for a one-day getaway, the hubby and I had a hard time finding a hotel. We literally drove down the strip, from hotel to hotel, asking if there were any vacancies (we arrived at the beach around 5pm on a Saturday). None of the "nicer" hotels had openings for their overpriced $3-500 rooms (per night!).
We did want to stay oceanfront, if possible, and our only other requirement was that the room be clean. We both agreed that we weren't going to stay at the many seedy, older motels that had been on the strip since the 1950's.

As I was getting very tired of getting in/out of the car to ask about hotels' "Vacancies" signs (which, we learned, was only a marketing ploy to get people in the door to send them to their more expensive sister hotels/resorts!), we decided to try this EconoLodge, as we were running out of options.

I ran in, the very nice front desk person said they had 2 rooms left. I asked for a tour, and was pleasantly suprised to see a very clean, cool, well-accomodated room, with an oceanfront balcony! We took it.

The weekend price was between $250-$275 (steep, but it was do-able for us). We were very pleased upon checking in with the assisted and free parking, free bike rental (included in room price), room coffee maker, fridge, microwave, continental breakfast and a heated outdoor pool. Perfect accomodations for us no frills type.

The staff was all extremely friendly, professional and every inch of the place was in good repair, smelled clean, and was spotless. The decor was dated, but clean, the beds comfortable, and our room had a flatscreen TV.

Overall, I would definitely stay here again, it's no resort (but doesn't have a resort price, either), and it's no old scary motel. It's a great value and nice place to stay.

I love it here...stayed a couple of times so the staff have got to know me. They are so good to talk to and I feel they look after us. We always get the kitchen rooms up the top floors. Luv the room maids she gets u wot ever u want. Remember this is a cheap 3 star hotel, it's not the hyatt. So u shld expect rooms to be a little older. Balconies are great beach I's best Eva, shops r great free breakfast is handy, free parking is a must and I cook my dinners. It's perfect

“Last time for us”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2011

We have stayed here 5 or 6 times through the years including the Neptune Festival at end of the 2010 season. Always "got what we paid for". We stopped in for one night late May 2011, which was just one week before the official start of this years summer season. It looks like nothing has been done to clean it up for this year. Holes in the blanket, terrible TV signal, cracked and faded resin chares on the deck, security door to the beach doesn’t lock. I no longer would consider staying a week here. Last time for us.

Pros: Central Location
Secure Parking – they close an overhead door at night.
Quite rooms on higher floors (considering the location)
Low Price (considering the location)
Clean Rooms, just old stuff.

Cons: One slow elevator
Poor maintenance
The bars across the street are about the roughest looking in the area
Small, really small, pool (never saw anyone use it)

Tip: Try the Beach Pub about 4 blocks out on Lasken for B – L – D, and Big Sam’s at Rudy’s Inlet for breakfast. Great food at a good price.
