“New Year's Eve Overnight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We were driving from NY to NC and made a reservation here because they had a reasonable rate for pets: $15 each, which was the cheapest we have seen. It is also next to the exit. Our room was on the first floor with a king bed, sofa and desk. We found it to be perfect for what we needed. Temperature was fine, bed was comfortable, floors and bathroom were clean and tv was right in front of our bed a few feet away. It wasn't far from the back door so it was easy to take the dogs out. We were also able to park by the back door and bring our things in closer to our room. They had a two for one coupon for a Japanese Steakhouse a few exits south, called Kobe, which we tried and it was a fabulous New Year's Eve dinner! The only issue we had was that someone three rooms away must have left their dog alone, which you are NOT supposed to do. It went on for hours and when I checked out I mentioned it to the front desk clerk and he said he was aware of the problem and had addressed it with that person.

Room Tip: If you bring pets, ask for a first floor room near the back door!

“Disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

We chose the Holiday Inn Express for an overnight stop as we were traveling with out pet and knew they were pet friendly. We have stayed at many other Holiday Inn Express on other similar trips and always found them acceptable, but this time was disappointed in the facility. The building appeared new from the exterior but found the interior tired and in need of many repairs and improvements. We arrived at 8:30pm and the outside temperature was 40 degrees. Upon entering the room, it was not much above 50 degrees since the heat was not on. You would think that knowing the room was reserved and paid for, they could have turned on the heat. We had reserved a king bed and were given an L-shaped room which was so large that you could barely see the TV from the bed. It was at least 20' away. See an earlier post with the same comment. The center of the room was completely empty and very uncomfortable. We, therefore requested another room and was given one with 2 queen beds and told there would be an up-charge. We questioned the reason for the up-charge, since the rooms are the same price on-line, so they dropped the issue and gave us the same rate as the king room. This room was also 50 degrees and the heat shut off. We sat in the room for 20 minutes with jackets on until the heat was up to a comfortable level. As far as the room goes, there was an old TV which didn't pull-out or swivel in a worn out wooden cabinet, a wall scone with broken glass, a broken night lock on the door, lumpy pillows and a very uncomfortable bed. The bathroom was clean except no cover seat on the toilet. Outside the room, the hallways were in need of upgrading, the stairway had a sloppy paint job and the elevator looked like a service elevator which hadn't been cleaned. The breakfast was cold and unappetizing and the coffee very weak so we ate elsewhere. We should have read reviews before booking at this Holiday Inn Express and not assumed all Holiday Inn Express are of the same standards.

Room Tip: Don't reserve a King Bed in the L-Room.

“strictly average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

We stayed here only for one night,
late check in was smooth , the room was slightly worn, and the staff put us in one of corner rooms , which i think was originally designed to be a 1 bedroom suite , but was later changed to a king bed suite,so what we had was large L shaped room with a kIng bed in a corner and the TV at least 15 feet away.Strange!
The internet was okay, but required a login ID from the reception.
The Tv was not an LCD TV, but an old style one.
We did not use the business center, Hence no comments.
Free Breakfast was standard holiday inn exp fare, nothing special but nothing bad.

“Looks nice but poorly maintained”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011 via mobile

We made an overnight stop, needing a place that would accept pets. We have stayed at many HI express hotels and thought it would be a good choice. The hotel appears fairly new, but minor maintenance issues were bothersome. The bathroom sink would not drain and the shower rod wal literally falling off the wall. I was hoping it would make it through my shower. When I grabbed a Towel off the rack, it was covered in yellow stains ! The desk person said it was their detergent and they had been having problems. Do they use yellow detergent ? Their staff should notice when they are folding up stained towels! Typical breakfast But malfunctioning warmer had cold eggs and sausage gravy. I stuck to bran flakes.

“Cancellation caution for this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

We did not stay at this hotel but I had to insert a date to write a review.

When I made the initial Holiday Inn online reservation for this hotel, there was a computer error, which was later acknowledged, and one request ended up being six different reservations. I did not realize this until I checked my account to cancel which I thought was one reservation. I cancelled all the reservations, but the hotel apparently received one four. When I received my credit card bill, there were two separate charges on my statement for the same night. I phoned the Falling Waters, WV Holiday Inn Express about the charges. The lady with whom I spoke could not have been nicer. She reviewed the charges and indicated they should not have been posted. Having no authority to do otherwise, she indicated she would take it up with the manager. Later, I called to follow up and she informed me that the manager said I would need to go through Holiday Inn (corporate) as the reservations were made online. As requested, I called Holiday Inn (corporate) who acknowledged the computer error and said they would call the Falling Waters Holiday Inn Express to see if they would credit my account or if they (Holiday Inn) would have to send me a refund check. Subsequent thereto, I received a called from Holiday Inn (corporate) informing me that they would need to send me a check. They did not elaborate but I assume that Falling Waters Holiday Inn Express would not cooperate. Therefore, I must wait, at least, from eight to ten days to receive a check in excess of $200 from Holiday Inn so I can pay the charges on my credit card. Meanwhile, I have disputed the charge with my credit card bank. All of these unnecessary calls, to say nothing of the time involved, could have been eliminated simply by Falling Waters Holiday Inn Express crediting my account with the erroneous charges. If you cancel a reservation at this property, please make sure you keep a copy of the cancellation confirmation and check your credit card statement carefully.

Otherwise, I know nothing about the property as we did not stay there.
