We were on our way to Buffalo, WY from the Grand Tetons and Pinedale seemed like a good stopping point after a day of Yellowstone and the Tetons. When we checked in we noticed that the parking lot was full of work trucks with drilling & welding equipment. The clerk on duty was having problems with a booking that was not showing up and keys that would not program but she was handling it in a logical way and got us checked in. The rooms were clean and fresh smelling although the corridor did smell of cigarette smoke.
Pinedale is a town of 1400 & it was Sunday evening when we arrived & were worried that there would be no place to have dinner so we asked the clerk and she recommended the Wind River Brewing Co, down the road. This was an excellent suggestion.
At ~3:15AM the entire town suffered a power outage; it was out until 7:30AM. During this period, nothing in the Best Western or the town work, including cell phones. The gas station west of the motel has a generator so they had hot coffee. When the power came back, the motel staff scrambled and got breakfast ready which was very nice of them.
