Just got back from spending two weeks at the Villas and it was a fabulous stay! Went with our three kids and two grandmas. Don't think anything could have been better!
First off - our unit. B300 - this is the four bedroom penthouse in the B building. When booking, we wanted to make sure we had an ocean view and this unit did not disappoint. Our back lanai, which was spacious and had a nice little eating area, had a fabulous view of the ocean. During our morning coffee, we could see whales and during the evening, had a perfect view of the sunset. The front lanai was huge, had a large table for eating, two loungers and a sitting area with comfy chairs. It overlooked the pool area but when sitting, you could see the many palm trees and the beautiful green mountains to the north. In my opinon, best building on the property for the views.
The unit was beautiful. Large bedrooms, three with large ensuites and walk in closets. Comfy beds, many many towels. Kitchen had everything that we needed. Large TV in main area and in master bedroom. The Grandmas did wish they had tvs in their rooms - as the rest of us went to bed early!
We were concerned before we arrived that the pool was a bit small for the size of the complex but it was never busy. We did not need to get up early to reserve seats - although there is only one umbrella which was very popular mid afternoon! We would suggest that the Villas invest in one or two more but that was a very minor need. The Beach Gear room was very well stocked with Boogie Boards, beach chairs, cooler bags and beach toys. When we arrived - right at the beginning of spring break - the room was empty but when we asked the management about it, they actually went to Costco to buy more for us! VERY impressed with the service!
The two gas BBQs were great and we used them often. They are cleaned every three days which was great to see. The entire place was clean and tidy - landscapers working quietly in the beautiful gardens. The entire staff obviously takes a lot of pride in their work.
The Villas are a five min walk down to Brenneke beach and Poipu Beach park - along the greenway which is very pretty. an easy walk althougth we did drive all of our stuff down to the beach when we were planning on staying for the afternoon - would have been a bit of a hike loaded down - especially the walk back after the beach trip when everyone was tired. Lots of parking. The other way on the path takes you to Shipwreck Beach - 7 mins - easy flat path. Starbucks and the little shopping area (with a few nice restaurants and great little shops) is a 20 min walk or 3 min drive on the main road.
The weight room was nice - hubbie used it a few times. Books to trade so you will never run out of beach reading material. Lots of places to walk, close to shopping and restaurants. Lots of beach towels.
The only issues we had where taken care of right away. Our dishwasher was not getting the dishes clean and with one phone call, someone was there to look at it within the hour.
We did not find it noisy at all - yes there were kids in the pool but it is Hawaii and we are all on vacation! All in all, great place to stay. Take your own seasonings and also plastic wrap and tinfoil. Came in very handy.
We will definitely be recommending the Villas at Poipu Kai to anyone we know planning a trip the this beautiful island!
