I had a training class last week. The hotel closest to class was quoting $400/night, so I started looking around. Saw some good reviews, it was close to BART, and the room rate was a third of the price. Heck, I could walk the seven blocks.
The room on the 4th floor was pretty far from the elevators and quiet - there was no discernable street noise, nor was there a lot of commotion on the floor. The room itself was larger than I had expected for the price and had wonderful natural lighting. While the carpet has seen better days, the bed was certainly comfortable. The bathroom was pretty huge, too, with abundant towels and toiletries.
I'd definitely consider staying here again. The location was good - one street offset from both major boulevards. With the extra hour of daylight, I could pick up three geocaches.
Only downside was the Internet access - $20/night and a hard-line not quite long enough to extend comfortably to the bed. The next morning, I learned that wireless was available, albeit my coworker reported spotty coverage and was comped.
