Very good hotel in the heart of Greenwich Village, with gorgeous, stylish rooms, good service, and a pretty lobby (comfortable chairs and couches, a lovely coffee shop, and a fireplace). The history of the hotel (Kerouac, etc..) is interesting.
Some people have described the staff as "snooty" or "arrogant" but we did not experience that at all. Everyone was welcoming and very helpful.
The restaurant, Margaux, is very good (with many healthy choices). We ate lunch and dinner there. The location of the hotel is also great, a fifteen minute walk from some of Manhattan's best restaurants.
The only drawback is the size of the bathrooms. Yes, the rooms are also very small (and we did not even have one of the smallest rooms), but that's not a big deal given how comfortable the beds are. But for a tall man to shave and shower comfortably in that bathroom is pretty much impossible. For hobbits and small people in general this place should get 5 stars in every category.More
