Love Savannah - the sites, history and food are all wonderful. The people are interesting and interested in the visitors. We have been to Savannah twice and I guarantee we will be back again.
Savannah is a wonderful artsy town (or city?). The greenery and trees and parks are very well maintained. I never realized so many movies were made in Savannah. Took a wonderful carriage tour of the old part with a great narrative of the city. I absolutely loved the hotel we stay at, the River Walk, restaurants, shopping, etc. in this city. Would highly recommend it. Stay near the River Walk and you do not need a car.
I'm a local who finally took a historic district tour and, much to my delight, enjoyed myself immensely. I took the Overview Tour with Batina and had a good time learning about the history, folks and the layout of the land. Batina was humorous in a gentle "steel magnolia" way and had us laughing as we went around the city.
I can't think of one reason that anyone would not like to visit Savannah, Georgia. The locals are friendly, the food is outstanding, the city reeks of history and mystery, and the music is great. Yes, it is hot and humid in the summer, but a river city should be hot and steamy. That adds to the ambiance.
