I stayed at the Four Seasons during a trip to Maui with my wife in December 2009. After reading all of the Tripadvisor and travel magazine reviews I was expecting to be wowed by the Four Seasons. Although it was a very nice hotel it did not live up to my expectations. The hotel is located in Wailea and is situated on a very nice beach flanked on either side by the Grand Hyatt and the Fairmont. The area is very busy and is a center for upscale resorts and high end second homes. We stayed at the hotel during the busiest time of the year (over NYE) so I think this negatively affected our experience. The hotel has a lovely open lobby with a view of the sea, the grounds and the pool. Our room was spacious and finished in a neutral fashion. There are various restaurants in the hotel including Spago (which had a very nice NYE dinner). There is a fitness center that is well equipped and a very nice spa. Staff are generally very friendly and attentive. The concierge staff is very helpful although we did come across one unhelpful concierge. There is a tennis court located on the roof where we had a tennis lesson with a pro who was more interested in getting ready for his next tennis match than teaching us some basics. My main problem with the hotel is that the main pool and adult pool were always crowded. There is an adult only pool but you have to get there by 7am to get a spot. I know the hotel was at full capacity but you could never relax by either pool as there was no space and everybody was on top of each other. I think the resort could be designed better to comfortably accomodate guests during busy times. In addition, the beach is relatively small for an area with so many large resorts. Some of the other large resorts seemed to have bigger pool areas and I didn't get the impression that they were as crowded. Maui was great and we really enjoyed visiting Hana, Lahaina and doing a Trilogy boat tour to Lana'i. There are a ton of great restaurants but we thought that Lahaina Grill, Gerard's and Mama's Fish House were the best. All in all we enjoyed our trip to Maui and the Four Seaons but the hotel did not live up to our very high expectations. In the end, we have had better resort experiences in the Maldives and Bali.

The service at the Four Seasons Maui sets it apart. Every person we dealt with from valet to front desk to pool staff was professional and attentive above and beyond. To our great enjoyment, our expectations were consistently exceeded, including a significant upgrade to an ocean view suite, memorable room service breakfasts served on our balcony, and a gorgeous adult-only infinity-edge pool overlooking the beach.

If you're on the fence about booking and money is an object like it is for me, I would much rather spend 4 days here than 5 days anywhere else. The high price is actually an outstanding value in terms of the overall quality.

I booked our trip to Maui through a travel agent and could not decide which resort to pick. Our agent tried to send us to the Fairmont Kea Lani. I wanted to stay at the Four Seasons. The Four Seasons was more expensive but after comparing reviews, I chose the Four Seasons. This was the best choice of my life! The Four Seasons Wailea is simply ridiculous in their attention to detail and elegance. I have never recieved service this good at any other resort either. It was not very crowded and we were able to upgrade into a oceanfront prime suite. If you are not sure about which resort to chose in Hawaii, you will not be disappointed in the Four Seasons. They also don't nickel and dime you to death. If you want to lay by the pool, relax and be waited on hand and foot this is the place for you! The Cabanas at the adult pool are great also. We rented one to watch the Saints beat Arizona.

On the tail end our our trip we moved to Four Seasons Lani city. It was not remotely of the same caliber as the Wailea location. It did have dolphins by the beach in the morning however.

My husband and I just got back from Four Seasons Maui while we were on our honeymoon. We were a bit picky about our Honeymoon Package, because the minimum stay they gave us was only 5 nights, we stayed at Maui for 10 days. So, we just purchased a Four Seasons Executive Suite - Prime Ocean View for their regular price.

Anyways, the staff was very helpful, generous--just great!

Dining
--------
The first night of our stay, we made a reservation at Ferraro's Bar e Ristorante, an Italian restaurant, poolside, which was great for us. We made a reservation at around 6:15 and it was still pretty light, so we could see the pool and all.

Food was delicious, no complaints.

Anyways, the whole honeymoon was fantastic and we'd definitely return to Four Seasons in Maui.

I was surprised to read Overun with Children's review of this hotel . My husband and I along with our two daughters (28 AND 15) were guests at the Four Seasons from April 18th thru the 23rd for the 2nd half of our trip and our stay could not have been better. In fact, our 28 year old daughter highly recommended this hotel to her friend who will be honeymooning in September as the only place to stay. The grounds, rooms and food are all wonderful but what makes this hotel so special is the staff who go beyond. The service here is unparalleled. We have stayed here before and we had high expectations and we were not disappointed. We thank the Four Seasons and especially their wonderful concierge and Ferraro's beach bar staff for a fantastic stay which was enjoyed by all members of our family.
