We enjoyed out stay at Amberwood very much. We arrived there in late July 2012 and stayed at the Columbine cabin. Our first night there we saw two huge elk grazing along the road right in front of the resort. They got spooked off by the bear that was nearby, who trotted across the street toward our cabin. We got our money’s worth from our Colorado vacation in the first two hours there.
Our cabin was just enough: our kids enjoyed the swing set and the ever-present chance of seeing wildlife on the property. My wife and I enjoyed the quiet and beautiful scenery of the surrounding area. The proprietors and staff were very accommodating and friendly, and the office had lots of books, board games, movies, regional information and promotional items.
If you’re looking for constant activities, amusements, games, scheduled events, etc., other resorts are better suited. If you’re looking to get away from the crowds, invent your own adventures on your own time, see lots of wildlife, and go into Rocky Mountain National Park anytime you want (being less than two miles away), you will enjoy Amberwood’s rustic charm as much as we did.More
