“A really warm welcome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

From the moment we met Isabel we could not have been made more welcome. Breakfasts were magnificent: fresh fruit, full Scottish, even defeated my husband who can eat for Scotland! Really comfy beds and rooms, and our son had the loft above us with a choice of 6 beds! In high season too! Isabel even bought us gifts for our wedding anniversary!
Apart from the dismal weather, about which she could do nothing, we had a great stay. It's a beautiful area, even in the rain.

“an absolute gem”

On a holiday filled with last minute accommodation bookings we somehow managed to fall squarely on our feet every night, and The Cuillins was no exception. Our room had a double bed and six (yes, six) single beds which was perfect for our large group. We were even given access to the bathroom of the vacant next-door bedroom to avoid us all having to queue to use the en suite in our room. Breakfast was excellent - lovely food and in staggering quantities. Owner Isabel is, as many other reviewers have said, the best thing about the place; incredibly welcoming and keen to make sure we had everything we needed. The only thing I'd change would be the amount of food put on the plates - it's delicious but there's way too much of it!

“You won´t leave hungry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

The area seems to be underrated with international tourist. But that is certainly an advantage. It is very nice and you can easily reach Islay or any part on Kintyre, for instance, and not very crowded. If you choose to spend a few days here, try to book a room at the Cuillins. At first glance, it might not seem spectacular from the outside. But you will soon discover that it is a very cosy B&B and Isabel is very welcoming and friendly. She can also recommend places to go for a walk or to where to grab a bite. The highlight certainly is the breakfast. We have never had larger fruit bowls and the cooked breakfast keeps you going for the rest of the day. If you are very hungry, go for the kippers. They are great. You can easily walk into the "city center". There are several decent places for food and drinks.

“The kindest, most generous hostess ever.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

We stayed for just one night at the end of September and really loved Tarbert. Much effort has been put into The Kintyre Way which starts in the town. The Cuillins was a real find too. A spacious double room, very clean and tastefully furnished. The bathroom was great too with a really good shower. Best of all though is Isabel the owner who made us and our dogs feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. It started with warm scones and tea , she recommended a great restaurant (The Anchorage) to eat in and made us the most fantastic breakfast the following morning. Fresh fruit then a huge full Scottish.
Only one problem - she's so generous that she'll never make any money! Thanks Isabel you're one in a million.

Room Tip: Ask for the double at the front.

“Cosy place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

We were 4 guys staying one night on our way from Glasgow to Islay. We had a lovely stay and were overwhelmed by Isabel's hospitality! The rooms were clean and nice. We didn't try the breakfast as we were leaving early for the ferry and decided to eat on the ferry. Isabel was however prepared to serve us breakfast at 05.30! Highly recommended!
