“freezing restaurant, raw pork!, overpriced!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2011

We visited this Inn on a thursday evening for a bar meal. The prices were too much for a bar meal and it wasn't traditional pub food at all when it came. I had the pork fillet special same price. We waited ages at least half an hour The place itself was freezing! . It was quite dark where we sat too. Our food arrived eventually and we were starving by now. Hubby said his was nice although minimal and pricey. I started to tuck into my pork but to my horror, the inside was very fleshy and pink! :( yukkTold the waitress when she cleared our plates that i was disappointed and showed her the meat, she said pork is supposed to be pink in the middle !!!!!! As if !!! Fool.Anyway no money off on our bill! Still freezing cold and still hungry Won't go back.

Room Tip: We just had a meal there , we weren't staying.

“What a treat”

Went for an evening meal with our 7 year old daughter, she said that they made her feel like a princess. They certainly made us all feel very special. The staff bent over backwards to find us a table even though we didn't book. We had the lamb which was excellent and the fillet which was melt in the mouth, which were both very good value, but the star of the show was defiantly the cheese board, which was good value and a large portion (it was enoughs for 2). Will be finding a reason to go back very soon.

“Tasty food and great atmosphere”

After a couple of years break we returned to the Wookey Hole Inn for an intimate dinner. We were greeted, immediately shown to our table and straight away I realised what a mistake we had made not visiting this charming place more regularly.
The food was locally sourced, beautifully presented and tasted superb. The wine too was very pleasant and not too expensive. Service throughout was impeccable - not at all stuffy, just helpful and welcoming.
All in all a great evening and we won't leave it so long next time.

“Slow service in restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

I came here for a meal with friends so cannot comment on the accommodation. The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere and the waiting staff were friendly. The food was nice, but overpriced for what it is. But the worst thing was the service. We had to wait 15 minutes after we sat down, just for someone to come and order our drinks. Then they took another 15 mins to arrive, and the night went on like that. We had three courses but there there for three hours! We didn't mind as we enjoyed the company, but I think that's really poor. Ok, it was a busy Saturday night but still.

So, maybe if you go on a week night and don't mind paying a bit extra then it's a nice place to eat and generally the standard is much higher than your average counrty pub.
