“Not your typical hotel lobby”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

We did not stay here, but did go into the lobby to look around. It was incredible. We probably spent half an hour looking at stuff. The outside shape of the building draws you in, and once you are in, you will enjoy. Better than a museum....they had huge vaces, carvings, and all kinds of stuff that was just facinating to look at. Even if you don't stay here, it is worth going into!!

“A tabernacle of tackiness ala Elvis & Liberace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

To be clear: we did NOT stay in this hotel, but only visited for some gambling during a day trip to Macau. We were drawn by my rather peculiar fascination with bad taste. When it's done really well, bad taste can reach the highest pinnacles of creativity that humanity has to offer.

From Macau's most famous tourist attraction, the ruins of the Sao Paulo cathedral, you have a sweeping panoramic view of the city. One high rise building stands out, the kind of structure that can only make you gasp in disbelief followed by gales of laughter. Somebody's parents scrimped and saved to send their kid to college to become an architect, and this was the fruit of their efforts.

The building has an overtly botanical design -- though not resembling any flower found on this planet. It's gold windows, streaked with runoff stains, reflect the pulsating neon of other nearby casinos. At the very summit an especially odd structure protrudes, evoking a "what the hell is that?" reaction.

Once inside, it's quite literally a jaw-dropping experience. We wanted to linger longer to marvel at some of the most garish and vulgar decor I've seen in my entire life, but the cigarette smoke ultimately forced us out.

So if you think that Elvis on black velvet is fine art, and that Liberace epitomized the ultimate in style and fashion, you will simply ADORE this hotel. Give it a visit!

“Great service, beautiful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

The grand Lisboa is located close to the central plaza downtown. From this location we were able to walk to most areas in Macau. Service was excellent, Inside the hotel is stunning. The art and carvings displayed throughout the hotel are beautiful. The room was spacious, and clean. Bed very comfortable. Staff was very helpfull. We would definately stay here if back in Macau.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

me and my friends had gone o macau in oct 2011 . we stayed at the grand lisboa hotel for the first time . this is one of kind property in macau . the service was excellent . the location of the property is what makes it a great hotel . all the other major properties are just 0 min walking from grand lisboa . the casino i think is one of the best in macua.
the only problem we had was at the check in counter . its took us almost 30 min to check in . may be that is due the language problem at the counter

Room Tip: ask for the lake view room

“Visually stimulating, great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

From its contribution to the Macau skyline to the many things to see inside, Grand Lisboa is one of, if not the most visually stimulating hotel there. We also stayed at Wynn Macau and the Venetian-Macao, both also very beautiful, but the character of the Grand Lisboa really stuck with us. The lobby had many interesting pieces scattered around, like large jade art pieces, ivory pieces, a huge emerald, and a huge diamond (can't remember the size, but it was the biggest one I've seen up close.)

The room had 3 TVs, one in the bedroom, one in the commode closet of the bathroom, and the one built into the bathroom mirror. The bedroom TV had surround sound with speakers above the TV and above the bed. The room was clean and comfortable with tons of storage space. Slippers provided were very comfortable. Across from the closet was a seating area with additional oversized drawer storage to the bureau, night stands, and cabinet below the TV.

The doormen are all eager to serve and seemed to always be on the lookout to help someone before they ask. We had a problem redeeming a comp, but when the doorman heard us, he walked us to where he knew someone could help us. He escorted us to the place where we needed to go and back and loaded our numerous luggage pieces into the shuttle and got us on our way- all with a big smile. We felt like royalty! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
