“Great location, good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

Last May my family and I took a short trip to Macau and Hong Kong. Once we reached Macau, we quickly checked into the hotel that I booked for 2 nights, Hotel Sintra. For USD368.68/RM1,172 (including tax and fees), we got 2 standard rooms for 2 nights.
Hotel Sintra is located at the popular commercial and shopping hub of Macau surrounded by numerous major business and tourist attractions. It is merely minutes walk away from the 24-hour Lisboa Casino which I thought was extremely convenient.
The room was clean and comfortable, bigger than we expected (definitely bigger than most Hong Kong hotel rooms), though the layout and design were a lil old to my taste.
Overall, the location of the hotel was extremely central and convenient, good value for money. suitable for family holiday.

“5 minutes walk to Casino Lisboa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2012

Short ride from the airport to this hotel, about 10-15 minutes ride and appears very popular, our taxi driver was telling us about how everything is close to this hotel (appears even locals stay here).

If you exit the hotel and turn left, walk straight till you hit a main road and make a left, along that road is McDonalds, 7/11, some local convenience stores etc. Keep walking down along this road and to your right is Senate Square, you will see it as you walk, can't possibly miss it! Very long street with plenty of boutique stores etc. If you need to get to Hac Sa on the other island, where the Venetian Casino is, when you exit the hotel, make a left, as soon as you reach the red lights, cross it and turn left, walk along that road and you will see the bus signs, jump on bus 26A and it will take you to Hac Sa, you will know when to get off since you can't really miss the Venetian...

Ordered room service as we were too tired to go out, rice with stewed pork was decent but it took almost an hour to arrive.

Room was very clean, bathroom was very clean and a moderate selection of amenities were provided. 2 bottles of water were provided each day however the mini bar, well there is no mini bar. There is a small mini bar fridge in the cupboard, which is on but it was completely empty, we did however found that someone had left the complimentary wrapper from the complimentary water bottle in the fridge. So I assume that the house keepers don't even bother looking in there since no snacks or beverages are offered.

Free wifi only if your booking includes it, otherwise you will have to pay for a temp user name and password daily. Wifi is horrible though, even with full connection, it was very slow and required relogin via the webpage very 5-10 minutes! No complimentary wired internet either.

Overall would stay again, but a mini bar with items might be handy.

“Great location, average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Hotel Sintra is located in the heart of Macau, and walking distance to everything on the peninsula. It is very near the Grand Lisboa, Senado Square, and the Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral. It is a fairly old building however, and the room size is on the smaller side. For our one night stay it was more than adequate, but was certainly nothing special as far as hotels go. Compared to the rest of the area, I feel you could do much better for your money.

“Good spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed 2 nights over a weekend. Good value as a 3*** but don't expect everything you might expect of a 4****. Very decent size rooms in particular, although decor was a bit dated and tired. Dining was ok, children's menu was fine, and breakfast buffet pretty wide ranging. Only snag for us was that we were unable to get interconnecting rooms on a non-smoking floor despite this being what we had specified on online booking. Location very good for walking round the city and no problems hailing a cab back to the ferry.
