Came for a night on 17 September 2011 with a group of friends for a birthday celebration. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of Macau, about 15 minutes by cab from the airport.

The hotel is built on a hill slope directly facing the Coloane beach. The first thing you see is the terrace and the Macanese restaurant which you have to pass to get through to the reception. The service was friendly and obliging throughout. The rooms we had were all the same, with double beds and small balconies overlooking the beach. The rooms were clean and comfortable though not particularly new. The only problem was that all rooms had connecting doors and sound proofing could have been better.

The restaurant serves great Macanese food, really good roasted trotter and bacalao etc.

Overall was a very pleasant experience for a quick break, a little off the main attractions i.e. Casinos -still, the Venetian is about 7-8 mins away by taxi...

Would definitely consider going back and no hesitation recommending this property for a break among friends. Not necessarily a good romantic getaway or family spot as the only facilities are the small swimming pool and the restaurant.

If you want to avoid the bright nights and noise of central Macau, then this is a fantastic choice. The rooms aren't immaculate, but if you want that then go down the road to the Westin. However, the rooms are a good size, very clean, all with a view of the sea, and a sofa. The staff are exceptional. Didn't pester us, but couldn't be more helpful. The dinner in the hotel restaurant was lovely, and the house wine is pleasant and inexpensive. The pool is a good size and clean, and the terrace is a charming place to relax in the evenings, overlooking the sea and the mountains. You can understand why it was such a popular retreat for smugglers! The hotel is set apart enough to be nice and quiet, but has a bus stop close enough by to get into the local town or all the way into Macau. Would happily recommend this to anybody, families, couples or friends who want a relaxing getaway, and would return without hesitation.

Several days at the Pousada de Coloane is like a trip to an affluent beach house. The furniture is a little mismatched and the the decor could use an update, but the sound of the waves is wonderful and you could just about hit the ocean with a rock from the balcony in a room. The service is very good as is the food. Staff was friendly, accomodating, and spoke English well. WiFi internet is available in the rooms and was reliably fast (about 300kbps). There are approximately 100 satellite channels including four English language movie channels. The reasonably priced but well-stocked mini bar and gigantic whirlpool bathtubs in the deluxe rooms are icing on the cake. If you're in Macau to gamble, you'll be disappointed because the casinos are quite a ways away. Pousada de Coloane is, however, a great place to relax.

I stayed in the PdC last week for two nights and was not disappointed. It was my second visit to PdC. We made good use of the poolside lounges and waterslides. Staff were perfect in their service to make us feel comfortable. The environment of PdC nestled between the hillside forest and beach of Macau is exactly what we needed after staying in the concrete Mongkok. The food in PdC is great but dont forget to try the restaurants on Haksha beach. NB. On our second day there we crossed paths with a category 8 typhoon so there was no transport in or out...but that gave us a great chance to catch up with mates indoors whilst finishing of the white wines from the wedding!
