“Lovely, charming and peaceful”

This hotel is for those who are seeking a beautiful experience on the island of Panerea. The hotel is a gleaming white, charming, perfectly decorated haven. The bedrooms are small, and no two seem to be alike, as this was long ago a primary residence. I usually only go for a luxury hotel experience, and I am very picky, but the small room and small bathroom (but great thick towels and plush robe) did not bother me one bit, as they were decorated in such a pleasing manner (our bed frame was hand painted with intricate designs...just stunning) Outside of our room was a massive, massive white terrace, with a regular sized table, six chairs, and four lounge chars. The view from this terrace was amazing (the dark pink bougainville everywhere, contrasting against the white building, white pots with flowers, and of course the ocean). At times we just stayed on the terrace and took in the whole sensual view. The breakfast (warm fresh pastries, fruit, eggs, bacon, cereal, cheese, meats) is served in a lovely large room that is opened to the outside on two sides. We had one dinner there and it was served in the same room as breakfast. At night, with the candles, music, beautiful linens and scents from the flowers, we dined on one of the best meals we had in Sicily. (And that is saying something!) To top off our stay, our host Maria and her staff were extremely attentive. We had problems leaving the island because of weather and she made sure we had a private boat to Sicily, instead of waiting for the hydrofoil. Every staff member always had a smile on their face, and were willing to do whatever we asked, even providing me with mosquito spray. I have been all over Italy, and this is now one of my favorite places.

“Overpriced but relaxing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

This is a 3* star masquerading as a 4* with limited facilities priced as a 5*

Very poor breakfast, dinner very expensive, best rooms at the back have very small rooms, bathroom too small for 2 people to get in, great balconies limited views, pool is really a small jacussi, try the hotels raya or oasi .

Island is v expensive but beautiful, the local beach which we were told is 15 mins walk is actually 30-40 minutes with volcanic sand and a beach master who asks 10 euros for each bed and umbrella each which are of poor quality. the trattatoria by the beach is very poor quality.

“Absolutely Wonderful!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

I spent 9 days at Quartara with my family in June.
The hotel is like a small pearl: it is very small, but it is very familiar and so charming. The room was not very big, but it was Eolian style with very studied wooden furniture. The bathroom was huge and decorated with handmade tiles (according to the Eolian style).
Breakfast was served in the same hall where in the evening is set the "Broccia" restaurant. Breakfast was very good and with a large variety of cakes and croissants.
Broccia restaturant is one of the best restaurant I have ever eat at. It doesn't offer a large variety of dishes but the one proposed are very refined and tasty. They come from the sicilian tradition, but they are revisited in a different and more modern way.
The hotel is located in a very calm and quiet area of Panarea: it is at walking distance from the port area (where all the nightlife is concentrated) but is enough far from the discos if you don't want to dance.

“Beautiful, romantic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

We stayed in the Quatara hotel for 2 nights and it was the highlight of the holiday. Panarea itself is charming with the lack of cars and streetlights, and the hotel is a total gem. The rooms are new and elegantly designed- we stayed on the 1st floor which had a large desk mainly to ourselves with a jacuzzi and great view.
Would really recommend coming to Panerea for a break, and if you can, stay at the Quartara.
