We love this hotel, everything is fantastic. Our favorite moment there were the dinners on the beach, there were just amazing, our cooking classes memorable, breakfast time great. Staff so helpful and professional, our experience here was memorably.
We have stayed on Koh Samui every year for the last six years or so for our summer holidays usually in July/August.
We only booked this hotel through a recommendation by the travel consultant at Trailfinders. As we'd never been to KS before, we thought we'd just go with it.
Boy, are we glad we did. Each and every time we've been back to KS we've stayed at the Amari Palm Reef. We did experiment one year and spent half of our time at a different hotel. Although the other hotel was nice enough (New Star at Chaweng Noi) it just wasn't the Amari.
The hotel bar is pretty dear here, so because of the hotels great location it's just a short stroll down into Chaweng where you will find cheaper drinks. The location of the hotel is one of it's major plus's. It far enough out of Chaweng to be quiet, yet close enough to walk 5-10 mins to the restaurants and bars of Chaweng.
We favour the rooms over the road as it's just that bit quieter. Both pools are great and the buffet breakfasts are fab.
If the hotel would enforce the no reserving pool beds a bit more, I would have probably given the Amari 5 out of 5.
Would I recommend it? Yes, without a doubt.
I didn't realise I hadn't reviewed this hotel yet, and its nearly 3 years ago since we stayed there on our honeymoon! It was June 2009, but for some reason I can't go back that far on the drop down menu.
I still remember it well, and will always remember it as being luxurious & relaxing!!
The staff were so friendly, the room was gorgeous, the whole hotel is lovely. The hotel is split into two buildings, and we were in the one furthest from the beach, but its only a stones throw away. There are 2 pools, one in each of the two sections. The one beside the beach is a bit more crowded and a bit noisy, so I sometimes preferred to go to the other pool nearest our room as it was very peaceful.
Food is outstanding in this hotel. Breakfast always had loads to choose from. Snacks & drinks by the pool, with waiter service. Every night had a different theme for food, with one of the nights dining right on the beach which was a first for us and was so amazing! We ate there quite a few nights and we were never disappointed, especially with the amazing buffets.
There is another restaurant attached, with you have to book. This again is fantastic, and very busy.
Finally the Spa is just fantastic, such a treat and so professional. There is also some complimentary massages by the pool as the Spa staff are trained and wow this is definately to be taken up on!
I honestly couldn't have asked for a better place to have stayed for our honeymoon. We really couldn't find any fault with it and if I could get the chance to go there again, I would!!
We spent the first week of our two week trip to Samui in the Amari. The location on the beach is fantastic, with the main pool, bar and restaurant all facing the beautiful beach, sea and coast.
The staff are as you expect from any Thai resort - extremely friendly, respectful and helpful.
Breakfast was good, but the pool menu for lunch was quite limited.
After spending our second week in Bophut, I would personally recommend Bophut over Chaweng as the area is much nicer, the streets are cleaner and have much better shops and restaurants.
