St. Maarten/St. Martin overview

A spicy marriage of European and Caribbean cultures, St Martin boasts lavish elegance and secluded beaches on the cosmopolitan French side and a bustling shopping centre and cruise port in Dutch-hued St Maarten. The island has been under joint French and Dutch control for 350 years. Taxis and jitney vans link the two sides, seamlessly crossing the imperceptible border.
