The worst experience in my life.

This has been the worst trip in my life. The flight got cancelled due to a technical error and therefore me and 39 other students and 2 teachers got stuck at Cork airport for 9 hours. We barely got help and we had to split up in 8 different groups! Some of us are travelling alone and some of us are travelling without any adults. The new bookings are terrible and some of us had to stop at 4 places in order to get home! We are so angry at KLM for this bad experience after having a nice trip with our English class. I will never fly with KLM again and I hope you don’t fly with them either!! This has been the worst and most stressful experience in my life and we haven’t slept at all. I wish they would be better at communication and to help us when we are so many travelers with different needs!

A very pleasant trip that started with a smooth check-in. Comfortable ambience in the cabin with smiling, caring, and professional staff. In-flight food and entertainment were top-notch with feather-touch landing. The availability of Wifi on the plane for messaging was a big plus.

KLM Arrogance

I had the most ridiculous problem with my reservation. I made a reservation change and I got a confirmation from KLM with the changes and my checking account was debited by that amount. The payment was made through PayPal. Three weeks later I go to check my reservation and it was only showing the original so I called KLM and it took them Half an hour to investigate to find out that they had a glitch in the system and the payment didn’t go through from there, and despite the fact that my payment was made and completed and I have a confirmation email from them. Anyway, we fixed the problem. I Here is my problem with the KLM arrogance. If I didn’t check, I would have went to the airport and realized I don’t have a reservation the day of travel. So I brought this up with the KLM agent and asked why didn’t I get a notification that my reservation was canceled. he said well I am glad that you checked. I told him when there is a glitch on the KLM side, the passengers should be notified, but unfortunately, this was not KLM’s problem. It’s the passengers problem to figure out. Arrogance at its highest level. Simply if KLM cannot handle PayPal payments. They should not offer it on their website as simple as that and don’t expect your passengers to investigate the reservation due to an internal glitch with KLM systems.

DO NOT BUY LUGGAGE INSURANCE!!! I took out luggage insurance with KLM and they lost mine for 3 days. I then had to take 1/2 a day off of my holiday to get a cab and pick it up from the airport when it was finally delivered. I contacted KLM insurance and they said that I received my luggage so I wasn't entitled to any compensation what so ever!

False advertising and not owning their mistakes.

KLM are showing their Promo "Light" fare from Dublin to New York JFK on 26 April and return on 6 May as including 23kg of checked in luggage (see screenshot). After selecting both flights, on the next page the website shows, there are two different places you can click that confirm this. But then when you check out, you have no checked baggage. I called the phone line and the woman said because on the payment page, after the above one, there is something you can click to check flight details, and on the bottom of the box that opens up there is "baggage" that you can click and then it doesn't show the baggage. She claimed this made it OK! The only thing she could offer me was a refund to my credit card, that will take 72+ hours, meanwhile I can't rebook as there is not enough capacity left on my credit card. I told her this violates UK advertising law, as it is false advertising, but she could still only offer me the refund. She also only told me it would take 72+ hours to return the money after she had processed the refund. As I have had good experiences with KLM in the past, I am going to assume that this is a case of them not owning their mistakes and honouring their promises, rather than trying to deceive customers, but it is certainly making me reconsider flying with them in future. Whether what they did is illegal or just bad practice, it doesn't give you confidence in them. This also applies to Air France as they have the identical website with the same offers, so are presumably the same company. Although I can't speak to their customer service line, which I would imagine would be the same but it is possible it is not.
