Poor customer service
Dublin - PhuketInternational
We were booked to travel with Qatar airways but 2 days before our flight they rang us to say that our flight was overbooked and if we changed flights they would compensate us, so we obliged even though it didn't completely suit us. Since then I have tried on numerous occasions to apply for compensation but have hit a brick wall. It's like they got us to change flights but now want nothing to do with us. Very poor customer care from an airway claiming to be one of the best in the world

No way if you travel with a kid!
Stockholm - TehranInternational
We had a very unpleasant experience with the staff handling our cabin baggage check. The person in charge was extremely rude and even threatened us by saying that we would be stopped at the final gate for another weight check. My wife and our two-year-old son were traveling together, and according to the airline’s policy, they were allowed a total of 14 kg of cabin baggage (7 kg each). However, this staff member insisted that no single bag could exceed 7 kg, forcing us to repack everything on the spot. We had to redistribute our luggage so that my wife carried exactly 7 kg in a backpack and our son’s small bags also added up to 7 kg, which was extremely stressful. Most airlines understand the challenges of traveling with a toddler. Typically, families with young children are guided to the front of the check-in line to make the process easier. Additionally, they are often allowed some flexibility with cabin baggage since handling both a child and luggage can be challenging. Unfortunately, Qatar Airways did not show this level of consideration, making our experience unnecessarily difficult and stressful.

Very bad customer service
London - Kuala LumpurInternational
Booked extra leg room seats to and from Australia at significant additional cost but Qatar did not advise in advance of aircraft changes meaning seats needed to be rebooked. It took me months to get the seats refunded as Qatar didn't want to reimburse me but persistent won through eventually. I will not use Qatar again.

Never Again - World's Most Over-rated Airline
Manchester - BangkokInternational
As we want to tour New Zealand in the not too distant future, we agreed that we would fly to the Far East with Qatar Airways so that we could compare them with Emirates and then have experience to draw on to decide which airline to fly to the other side of the world with. There is no comparison - the only airline I would put Qatar on a par with is Ryanair. We had to weigh our own bags and self-generate the luggage tags before going to the desk to check in and re-weigh the bags. The flight from Manchester to Doha was our first experience of the Airbus A350 and it was a disappointment – whether this is the aircraft in general or just the way Qatar have configured it we can’t say at this time but it is nowhere near as spacious as the A380’s operated by Emirates. The only positive was the size of the overhead luggage bins. None of the Qatar check in, boarding or cabin crew were friendly – not one please or thank you in 10 hours; the food options were very limited and the food itself was poor with no hot drinks served on a 6½ hour flight. Things didn't get any better with our flight from Doha to Bangkok on a Qatar A380. A delay of almost 5 hours didn't help but the seats were well beyond their best and were ridiculously uncomfortable long before we got anywhere near Bangkok. I can't comment on the food etc. on this flight because, after being on the go for almost 24 hours by the time we finally took off, I fell asleep for almost 4 hours. This must have been the time when any food and drink was served as nothing materialised when I was awake. When I asked one of the cabin crew grumpies for a bottle of water I got glared at for my troubles and informed that "food and drink is no longer available on this flight". There was no improvement in the service on our return flights from Hanoi to Doha to Manchester. Maintenance wouldn't appear to be high on Qatar's priority either - the Boeing 787 we had the misfortune to fly on had wedges of kitchen paper and toilet tissue jammed in the gap between the air vents and back of the overhead luggage bins to suppress rattles. We certainly won't be flying anywhere with Qatar Airways again.

Do not fly Qatar in business class unless your flight offers Qsuites...
Doha - Ho Chi Minh CityInternational
I'm a frequent One World flier, this was my first time on Qatar. Connecting from an AA flight from Philly to a Qatar flight to HCMC. I heard only good things about the airline. It is supposedly one of the better ones in the world. All that may be true if you fly in one of their Qsuites. This flight was in a 777, seats were more like lounge chairs than fully lie-flat beds, very cramped feel for a business class, window seats, my preference, had no direct aisle access - you had to climb over the person next to you with acrobatic skills. Service was good, so was the food, but if you stretched out your elbow, you would hit the passenger next to you. My advice - do not fly this airline in business unless your flight offers the upgraded Qsuite. If not, this is nothing more than a budget business class experience; except for the food and service, which were very good. One plus - if your layover is around 6 hours (or more), Qatar offers a 3 hour Doha City Tour. It is easy to exit the airport, and if flying business, they have a fancy business/first check-in area, with dedicated immigration and security lines, so the return to the lounge or gate is a quick no-lines experience....and the City Tour, if you've never been to Doha, is a fun and worthwhile experience. The business lounge is fancy, nice shower rooms (may not be available if you fly on a code share), but when it comes to the food offerings, I was expecting a more 5 Star experience. In fact, it was no different than most any other lounge.
