A Warning to Travelers Considering Xiamen Airlines (XA) Between Australia and China
I had the worst travel experience with Xiamen Airlines (XA) during the Christmas holiday, marked by unprofessionalism, lack of customer respect, hidden costs, and severe disruptions to my journey in China. I do not seek their attention, apologies, or resolutions—I simply hope this terrible airline ceases operations in Australia soon. I will make sure all my local connections are aware of how appalling XA’s service is.
Here are the major issues I encountered:
• Flight Delays Without Proper Notice: My flight from Sydney was delayed without any prior notification, causing significant inconvenience. XA failed to communicate effectively, and no adequate alternative arrangements were provided. Due to this delay, I missed my connecting flight, which was originally included in my airfare.
• Unexpected Accommodation Costs and Privacy Violations: The airline did not cover transportation to the provided accommodation. Worse, upon arriving at the hotel, I was informed that I would have to share a room with a stranger—something the airline staff had not mentioned earlier. If I wanted a private room, I had to pay extra.
• Unhelpful and Unprofessional Staff: The airline staff provided little to no assistance in resolving these issues. Their lack of professionalism and unwillingness to support affected passengers only worsened the experience.
These disruptions not only caused unnecessary stress but also led to additional expenses for accommodations, transportation, and other unforeseen costs. Given this unacceptable experience, I strongly warn Australian travelers: Do not fly with Xiamen Airlines. I sincerely hope this airline is soon removed from the Australian market
