One of two airports serving the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is located 26 miles west of the District of Columbia. A hub for Silver Airways and United Airlines, almost 21.6 million travelers used the airport in 2014. In total, about 40 carriers fly between Dulles Airport and destinations in North America, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia. Dulles Airport has four runways and one main terminal plus two midfield terminals with a total of 123 gates.
