About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- gabriel_gV1644MO0 contributionsWonderful ZazenI absolutely enjoyed the second part of the tour - zazen meditation and overall experience at Kinryuji temple. The temple was cozy, smelled nice, the monk was very friendly, understanding, relaxed and even made some jokes to accomodate a relaxed atmosphere. We were instructed on how to zazen and after that, had a set of matcha with sweets. We also copied a sutra in a pretty bright blue pen and said our prayers to the Buddha. We also had enough time to communicate with the monk and ask our questions about Buddhism. As for the tour, it is aimed for the first time visitors of Japan, so if it is your first time in Asakusa - great! The guide will show you good spots for pictures and introduce some history or recommend nice restaurants. However, the walking tour was not full in details or depth, so it may not be entertaining for foreigners who live in Japan, but I definitely recommend zazen and the overall tour as the group is small, the guide was friendly and polite, the zazen and temple visit was totally incredible!Written 17 February 2025

Tad was very patient and knowledgeable, and was able and willing to answer all of my questions, which were many. Miki hosted our sushi making experience. Her enthusiasm is infectious and very charming. At one point we went to thee restroom and got separated from our group. Ike volunteered to help us and walked us back to the group himself. He was very gracious about it. My husband make a bit of a mess of his sushi and Koro and Miki were cheerful about it and got him new supplies. My wife and I visited Tokyo in early February and enjoyed two full days with our excellent guide, Tak, seeing a great range of city highlights!
Tak was very knowledgeable, polite and sought to ensure we got a good overview of the city at a pace that suited us (our interests and activity levels).
Travelling on foot and via the very efficient train and subway system was the perfect way to experience the city.
Tak showed us a number of smaller odd the main track spots as well as providing good explanations and historical references to the main sites visited.
We would highly recommend Tak and the team at Japan Wonder Travel.
All communication prior to our first day was clear, concise and helpful to ensure we got the most out of our two full days!!

I went after seeing it featured on BS broadcasting, and it was a truly wonderful hot spring. I saw on TV that the president himself was burning firewood, and this hot spring is different from others because it is heated with firewood. I stayed at the newly built detached "Ibuki", and the room was filled with pheton cit, which was very relaxing. The room had a large cypress bathtub with free-flowing hot spring water. After the bath, you can use the hot spring water that comes out of the shower. It is a wonderful hot spring where you can relax in the beautiful hot spring while listening to the babbling of the nearby water. The dinner and breakfast were plentiful, and the quality and quantity were both satisfactory. It is a famous hot spring with a history of 1200 years since the founding of the great master, but it is often fully booked and it is difficult to stay overnight. It seems that you can take a day trip. The milk sold here is expensive, but it is definitely worth drinking. Definitely.

We had a fantastic day on our walking tour of Tokyo. Our amazingly talented guide, Laila, shared her knowledge of each area we visited and provided us with opportunities to immerse ourselves in the culture as we explored the shrines, temples and streets and sampled the local cuisine. She adjusted the itinerary to suit our needs and continually checked in with us due to the exceptionally warm weather. Laila kindly waited in a queue for lunch at a restaurant and encouraged us to use the time to explore the area. She captured many moments on her camera and shared them with us.
Thank you Laila for an amazing day. We would not have been able to discover and learn so much about Tokyo without your expertise.

Our tour guide, Yeonmi was fantastic as our guide! She accommodated all of our requests as well as offered helpful suggestions on how to make our tour run more smoothly. She facilitated all of our orders at Tsukiji so that everyone in our group was able to eat what they desired without wasting any time. We were able to do and experience so much more in Tokyo because of this tour and highly recommend it. Also, Yuki who helped us coordinate and plan our tour itinerary in advance was so helpful with answering all of our questions so promptly.

This was a wonderful experience; I highly recommend. Our group of six (mixed ages, mainly teenage girls ) booked two tours: a full day first followed by a half-day tour the next. Tak was an excellent tour guide. He was very informative, and incredibly patient with our group. He tailored the tour to meet the needs and interests of the group, and adjusted the itinerary as needed to suit energy levels once our jet lag set in. Overall, a great experience thanks to Tak!

We loved our day with Fumiko as our private guide for a full day tour of some of Tokyo's top sites! She was very warm, friendly, and knowledgeable, and did a great job of sharing some of her personal experiences and favorites with us as she toured us around the city. We went to a VERY busy Tsukiji market (local customers were all shopping in advance of New Years) and did a great job of navigating us through the crowds, it was a great experience. We had a couple of other wonderful stops including an incredible sushi lunch at a very local restaurant, and finished our day at the Meiji Shrine which was beautiful. It's a great way for our family to learn some of Tokyo (there's SO MUCH), and Fumiko is a wonderful guide to help us through that all. As a bonus, Fumi took so many wonderful photos of our family that she shared with us, that was so kind of her!! Highly recommend this tour and her as a guide!

It’s fantastic that she was able to share her personal experiences and favorites with you, and we’re glad to know that her warmth, friendliness, and knowledge made your day so enjoyable. Navigating through the busy Tsukiji Market can be a challenge, especially before the New Year, but we’re happy to hear that Fumiko made it a smooth experience for you!
The sushi lunch and the visit to the Meiji Shrine also sound like great highlights, and we’re glad they added to the overall experience.
Thank you again for your kind recommendation. We would love to welcome you and your family back on another tour during your next visit to Tokyo!

We used Japan Wonder Travel for 6 days of private tours. We had 3 different guides: Tak, Keiko, and Kazumi. Each were very professional, knowledgeable and had their own insights to share. They met us at our hotel and showed us how to use the train system, pointed out shops and gave us insights to culture, life, and pain points to living in and around Tokyo. We covered a lot of sites and some of the most memorable were not what I would have expected. The two that stand out was origami and a tea ceremony. Both were courtesy of Keiko’s connections. It gave a glimpse of Japanese culture and art that was intriguing and memorable. Keiko even took the time to show us how to fold a crane. Tak gave us a very detailed tour of Tsukiji market including the new retail section. Asakusa was especially beautiful during sunset and again Tak gave a very detailed tour on the gates, shrines, and key points. Kazumi was knowledgeable and gave good perspectives as we walked through Yanaka. Keiko braved Shinjuku for us and pointed out the new rooftop park that is popular with locals. Would highly recommend this knowledgeable tour operator after 6 half day private tours spanning 3 excellent guides!

Great tour of Tokyo with a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who spoke perfect English. The private one day tour is actually quite good value for groups of 4+ people… not sure it’s worth paying extra for the customisable tour unless you have very specific requirements? We don’t usually follow the crowds and take tours but this avoids having to constantly look at guide books and Google maps while translating stuff… definitely a more relaxing way to get a taste of what can be quite an overwhelming city and see some of the highlights.

Brilliant tour from Nagahori. We chose to do this on our first full day in Tokyo as it was our first trip to Japan. We wanted to get to grips with the culture and learn about the history of this amazing country with Nagahori did so well. He was so well planned with everything and took us to multiple locations, bery good on email too and sent over a few options but you can pick on the day. I’d suggest doing the things that are perhaps less touristy as you’ll naturally go to those anyway. We simply said it was our first time so we’d like to see as much as possible, I would really recommend the shrines to learn more about their beliefs and religion, very interesting. We ended at Tsukiji market where Nagahori showed us a sushi restaurant for lunch and made sure we got seated and ordered for us - demonstrating what a caring individual he is. What was great too is he had a lot of folders with images / graphs / facts about Japan, culture, history, religion, economy, fashion etc to help add to context to what he was telling us. Despite the heavy rainfall, we had a fantastic time and it’s absolutely worth doing. He also put together some photos for us and sent over on the same day for us as a memory which was lovely!! You will also use the metro which if you’re not confident doing, your guide will be able to show you as it’s impossible to see Tokyo without it! Thanks for a brilliant tour Nagahori - I would certainly recommend!

We’re glad you enjoyed the less touristy spots, the shrines, and the sushi at Tsukiji Market. My family of 4 enjoyed a wonderful morning/afternoon with our awesome guide Tak. Tak took us around Tsukiji market to visit the various food stands. He knew which food stands to go to based on what we wanted to eat (sashimi, tamago, unagi, raw oysters, etc.). There is no way we could have navigated the marketplace by ourselves. I highly recommend Tak who was knowledgeable, funny, and energetic. Tak also took us to stands that sold tea, spices, and knew the owners so we could sample their goods. We stopped by a great market that sold dishes/bowls/cups and we purchased a few items that were very reasonable. Later we had a sushi lunch and walked around Ginza. I am Japanese American (understand only a little Japanese) and I would have been lost in Tsukiji without Tak. It is so important to make the most of your time so having a personal guide is critical. FYI, we have two teenagers and they also had a blast. Thank you Tak!

Regarding tour exclusions: do we pay for lunch, transportation and entrance fees for our tour guide, in addition to ours?
Written 27 February 2024
We paid for our own subway. The guide paid for hers. We paid for our lunch and the lunch of the guide although she offered to pay for her own lunch. We didn’t go into anything that had a fee but I believe, yes, you would pay for that as well.

Hi. We took this tour in April and it was customized completely, not just with the initial plan, it was tailored to us as the day unfolded. The guide also gave us great recommendations of what more to do on our own in the following days we had in Tokyo, based on what we liked. It is one of the best city private tours we've ever taken.
