This was one of the highlights from our trip to Costa Rica. Our guide Rayner was great, picked us up and got us on our way. Once we got to the Canyon Adventure compound, he checked in with us regularly and walked us through the itinerary for the day, meals, etc. We had such a fun day zip-lining, white water rafting, riding horses and ending up in the hot spring pools. Fair warning, if you elect to do the Volcanic Mud bath at the hot springs, prepare for the smell to stick with you for days on your clothing.. Other than that, I'd highly recommend this tour, and would also recommend booking through Pininos Adventures - we also booked our ATV & Beach tour with them, and overall had excellent customer service!

First all Our guide carlos was wonderful...taking action photos for us along the way was a definite bonus to us & something we did not expect. He was with us the whole tour : canopy , horseback ride, tubing and hot spring .

The tours guides were really friendly and funny , each activity has some risk and we do understand how they work, but the tours guides were extremely professional take care of my family the whole time .

I felt happy to book this tour with this family business company , my kids enjoyed a lot and on July they want to get back to Costa Rica again!

A wonderful day!! Booked this adventure with my 5 friends on our last day in Costa Rica, and so glad we did!
We were picked up in Tamarindo in the morning to be taken to the canyon, where we were lead through a day of adventure & fun. Started with tubing, then zip-lining, horseback riding, a delicious lunch, and finally we went to the mud bath & hot springs, before being driven back to Tamarindo. We felt like there was plently of time for each activity, but it was nice that it was flexible if we decided we wanted to do less of any of the activities.
The pininos team was friendly, organized, and accommodating. Definitely recommend this for those looking for an active day in the jungle!

My 14-year-old daughter and I signed up for this tour when we were in Costa Rica in August 2018. We were super excited for all the activities. The van driver who picked us up at our AirBnB was very nice and we had a great start to our tour. When we got there, we went zip lining first. We had left our water bottles in the car, as had everyone, because you can't zipline with your water bottle. Needless to say it was super hot and humid and we were hiking around in the sun and heat from line to line. There wasn't any water provided until we finished zip lining, about an hour or two later, and by that time I think it was too late for my daughter, who is really fair. She did have a cup of water after zip lining. But when we were doing the next activity, rapelling and climbing (in direct sun again), she felt extremely sick, and could barely climb up the rock face. She almost keeled over at the top. She did her best to try be strong, and we were already on our horses ready for the next adventure when she had to get off and get into the shade. Our van driver was still around, and he was super helpful. He suggested she drink some fruit juice from the food pagoda and got her into his air conditioned van, where I fanned her with my hat. He phoned his boss and got the ok to drive us all the way back to our AirBnB, 45 minutes away. She recovered in the AC at the AirBnB, and if the van driver hadn't gotten her into the van's AC when he did she might have gotten full blown heatstroke, which can be deadly. Yes, we're Canadian gringas and not used to the heat in CR, but we had been in CR for a week already, even doing outdoor activities already. Also, a lot of tourists on the tour are gringas from more Northerly climes. That's who's going on those tours, so it makes sense to take some extra steps to make sure the gringas don't get heatstroke. Certainly it was not their fault it was so hot, that's just the climate there, and to be fair, everyone else on the tour was okay. What could they have done better? There seemed to be no one around who was in charge. You would think that if someone on a tour like that got sick from the heat, that someone in charge would appear and deal with the situation. But no, our van driver took care of us. There seemed to be no first aid station, no ice packs, no room with AC, and no one to assess her health to see if it was serious, besides me and the driver. They're lucky she didn't get really sick. Also, they really should have provided hydration sooner on the tour than they did, for example having a hydration station at one of the zipline platforms along the way with cold or iced water, or even better some iced fruit juices. At the very least, they could have warned us to drink a lot of water before the zip lining began. On the positive side, most people on the tour seemed to be having a blast, including us until we had to leave, and we were sad to go. What did they do right? The van driver was very attentive and acted fast (Victor was his name). And his boss let him drive us all the way home (45 minutes each way for him) mid-way through without a fuss. Plus they emailed us our photos from the trip. Advice for people going on this tour? Don't go if you can't normally be outside in the equatorial heat and sun all day with no shade without getting sick. Hydrate yourself well beforehand and don't expect a First Aid station to be there if you need it or anyone to take care of you besides your van driver and mommy (hopefully your mommy's there to fan. you with a hat). I do recommend the tour though, for those who are heat tolerant and adventurous. My daughter and I both wish we could have finished it.

We regret the fact that your daughter has not been able to withstand the warm weather in our beautiful volcano, it is very unfortunate that you have not been able to do all the activities . Your experience and the comment is not a parameter to evaluate this tour since you were with us only in the canopy ( one activity) wich we have practically 5 activities, We did the most practical thing possible to help you with the dehydration of your daughter, so we gladly agreed to return to your rental house, traveling 35 minutes away from our departure tours. although this tour was accompanied by other people in which they were very kind to understand the situation and conntinue with the tour doing the tubing ( profitable time to go and return for the rest of the customer) It is so sad that your evaluation is not according to the experiences as the other people who were that day, we hope really soon you can join us and share to your friends unforgettable experience with us and in Costa Rica!!!

We ha the best time with carlos doing this trip , we saw the huge volcano Rincón de la vieja from the Sabana riding the horse ( perfect ride for begginer) to get to the tubing tour, the best part we really enjoy was the tubing after the hot spring and mud bath .

The typical lunch was so delicious, the best food we had in our life so far.

We envolved our body in to the mud ( sulfur) and let dry for 10 minutes, they had a guy who’s help to paint you if you want it but we decided to do it by our own , WE DONT HAVE ANY COMPLAIN about this amazing tour and how carlos and the other guys treat my friends and I, everything on the description was the same as we did it.

Looking forward to get back to Costa Rica for more tours ,
1000% recommend this company for any tours while you are in Costa Rica .

This adventure was one of the highlights of our trip. We went in November 2019 and enjoyed it very much!
PROS: Excellent communication. Carlos was very kind, spoke perfect English, and taught us a lot about Costa Rica on our drive to and from our adventure. There IS water on hand so you can get a drink before and after your ziplining (what they call canopy tour). The food was excellent!! Carlos speaks perfect English so it's easy to communicate. The Guides who actually ran the ziplining and tubing communicated well and were very fun, kind, and helpful. (Carlos stays with the van and our backpacks and was very trustworthy). I've ziplined several times with the ultimate being a 1/2 day 15 line zipline in the jungle of Honduras- but this was a very good 2nd. Some other groups did rafting in the river but the tubes were a blast and the rafters were wishing they were in tubes.
You have the option of a photographer capturing pics during the rafting part of the tour ($35). He did a great job & got some great shots that were very clear. We bought them. Well worth the money.

CONS:
My biggest CON is that the description says, "The perfect ride takes you to see the volcano, and from the savannas to the hot springs for a mud wrap." There was never anything to do with a volcano (which was a very big disappointment to me). AFTER I asked about the volcano Carlos pointed to some very distant mountains from the roadway on our drive to and from the adventure and told us which one was a volcano. The mud "wrap" was actually a man painting sulfur mud on our bodies with a fat paintbrush. then you continue standing to let it dry. There's no "wrap" (or mud "baths" just fyi). It smells like sulfur of course which isn't a pleasant smell but still a healthy and neat thing to do & I would do it again.
Horseback riding was slow and kinda boring to me...This one is just personal preference and I knew there'd be horseback riding before I booked the tour but I was under the impression it was at the foot of volcanos so I was fine with it. It was a good means to get to the river for rafting but just a bit slow-paced for my liking. Again, someone who never has the opportunity to ride a horse may put this in the PROS category.

CONS Response: 1-My biggest CON is that the description says, "The perfect ride takes you to see the volcano, and from the savannas to the hot springs for a mud wrap." There was never anything to do with a volcano (which was a very big disappointment to me): sorry but when your were horsebackride, you could see the volcano from the Sabana ( flat land) Probably was cloudy after carlos pointed from the main road and that day the plans were changed at the last moment due to a security checkpoint for the clients, so the horseback riding was done to reach the river, which forced us to make the hot spring as the last option which my experience tells me, that it is best to do this at the end, after a long day of adventure 2-AFTER I asked about the volcano Carlos pointed to some very distant mountains from the roadway on our drive to and from the adventure and told us which one was a volcano.: Thats Right, carlos pointed from the main road when your were driving from Liberia city which you can able to see the volcano and the steam from the same volcano. 3-The mud "wrap" was actually a man painting sulfur mud on our bodies with a fat paintbrush. then you continue standing to let it dry. There's no "wrap" (or mud "baths" just fyi). It smells like sulfur of course which isn't a pleasant smell but still a healthy and neat thing to do & I would do it again: The Person paintng sulfur mud was an option, Otherwise you can take it with your owns hand and envolve your boddy of mud The benefits of bathing in volcanic mud are many and varied. They include beauty benefits such as conditioning of the hair, exfoliation and softening of the skin, an improvement in circulation, and the alleviation of some skin conditions. It’s also very relaxing, resulting in a great feeling of calm. The possible health benefits include reducing inflammation, a balancing of pH levels, and the relief of joint and muscle tension. we believe that you are exaggerating a bit, you were asked about the changes and you were agree, we remind you, that you suggested doing the hot springs as the last option to go relaxed to your hotel And that was what we did
