JEEP RENTAL FOR EXPLORING DENALI PARK ON YOUR OWN.
6 hr Self Guided Jeep Rental We were picked up at our hotel and the check in process was easy. On our way in 15 min. Loved having the freedom to go where we wanted. Drove into Denali National Park to mile 15. Got to see the top of Denali clear as day! Then we drove 23 miles into the Denali Highway and back. This is a gravel road with LOTS of potholes! Took many amazing picture along the way. The jeep was perfect! We only used about less than 1/2 tank of gas. Which you do have to fill back up when you return. Cost about $35. The return was very easy also. And they took us back to our hotel. Highly recommend this company.

WORST EXCURSION OF OUR 10 DAYS IN ALASKA
Don't waste your money! This was the worst excursion of our 10 day cruise/land tour to Alaska for several reasons: #1) It took 5 phone calls for them to find us: 2 phone calls stated we were at the Princess Chalet Lodge, 2 phone calls went unanswered and the last phone call we finally got picked up. #2) When we arrived at the rental location, we asked why they couldn't find us and the manager replied with a snide remark that they give up after 3 attempts. What about customer service????? Wouldn't it have been nice for them to have called us to clarify where we were standing? #3) After signing the rental papers, we asked for suggestions on where to go and he simply said just go on the Denali Highway about so far down (he pointed it out on the map) and that will be far enough for your 4 hours. He mentioned that we may want to use the Jeep's GPS instead of our phone for directions. Without further comments, we left without any instruction on how to use the GPS in the Jeep and yes, our cell phone coverage was very sporadic. Luckily, Alaska only has a few roads to travel. #4) Upon our return to the rental store, the manager stated we didn't refill the gas tank. As a courtesy, it would have been nice prior to us leaving about emphasizing the policy about refueling the Jeep. Once again, the manager gave a snide remark and simply said, it's in the contract. This was the worst customer service we experienced during our entire trip.

Not worth the extra money, time, gas
Nice jeep, but they don’t allow off-roading. Dirt roads only. Not knowing the area, I asked for trail recommendations and was given 4 QR codes that linked me to NPS maps of well groomed dirt roads that I could have driven in my rental car. Not worth the money, has, time.

        Speeding!
I was so excited about this Jeep tour. The Jeep was great and clean. However, we were flying 50 mph down a dirt road and my Jeep was sliding enough for my traction control light to come on several times! The lead guide did not stop when we saw a moose on the side of the road, he just kept speeding down the road!! I could not believe it! After all, aren't we there to see the animals and the view! At one point we were going 55 mph in a 40 mpg zone! I was so stressed out at the end of the tour, I wanted to go back to the hotel and calm down! I would never recommend this company, which is too bad. It could've been great.

Poor manager. Charged for damage we didn't cause.
Did the 4 hour self guided tour. Jeep was filthy when we got it. Someone else had used it before us, and it wasn't clean when we picked it up. Wasn't a huge deal until they charged us for a stone chip in the windshield that you couldn't see under the dirt in the initial inspection. We noticed the chip when we were about 5 to 10 min down the paved road. Since we were already about 20 min late due to waiting around for them to hand the Jeep over to us, we didn't turn around to report it. We are from out of country without working cell phones, so we didn't call. We pointed it out to them as soon as we returned. The manager was unwilling to listen to our concerns as he waved the waiver in our face saying that we have to pay to replace the windshield. He insisted that he had pictures (which we saw him take) that showed that there was no chip. He refused to show us the picture when I repeatedly asked to see it. In fact, he didn't even acknowledge that I was asking the question as he talked over me every time I asked to see the photo. Another employee agreed with us that we shouldn't be paying for the window. The manager told the employee off not only in front of us, but in front of all the other customers who were standing around us. I felt really bad for the employee who clearly saw that what the manager was doing was wrong. The manager said that he is the one who cleans the jeeps, so I'm left to assume that either the previous group caused the stone chip, ( that couldn't be seen under the dirt on the window) or he was just trying to cover his own butt for not noticing it the last time he cleaned it. Either way, I would steer clear of this company. You might have to pay to repair something that you didn't damage.

        Stay clear of this company
We started our day off well, booking went smooth , front desk person was very helpful. We did the walk around of the vehicle before leaving after the company took pictures and I had comment on the windows being realy dirty and was informed that was due to hard water...okay sure I did not know that hard water attracted dirt. However, we left for our 4 hour self guided tour, about 10 - 15 min down the road I noticed a chip in a blind spot of the windshiled behind the driver side grab bar. Being from out of Counrty and no cell reception we made the choice to continue on and decided we would let them know at the end of the day so as to not waste our time on our vacation dealing with their issues that they over looked. We had a good couple hours seeing some moose and beautiful scenery before returning the Jeep back to its rental location. When we got there I informed the staff of the chip right away as it was difficult to see from the outside. The staff had to put their hand above the location of the chip and get right up and personal with it. This particular staff member agreed this would have been hard to spot. The manager then came out put his hand over the spot to try to see it and than told us we would have to pay for this as we did not notice it during our walk around in the morning. We had requested to see the picture that the staff took in the morning and it took him about 20 minutes to look for them before telling us again that we would have to pay, even though he refused to produce the pictures. He proceed to tell us that we had signed the sheet in the morning and not noticed the chip so it was not there and he had checked the vehicle out the night before. So all and all due to our honesty and the mangers oversight we ended up paying for his mistake. Poorly run company, strongly suggest staying clear of this one.

        Fun Day!
Easy to book, clear pricing and communication, timely pickup, friendly staff. The tean member that got us going was very helpful with suggestions and answers all of our questions. We took the Denali Highway to Alpine Creek Lodge. I would highly recommend!

Nice independent way to see local sights.
The jeep was fun to drive and allowed us to see a lot more than would have been possible since we arrive by train and didn’t have a car. The drive down Denali highway outside of Cantwell was so beautiful. We were having such a nice time, we extended or rental to 6 hours so we didn’t have to rush back. The staff were friendly, helpful and even gave us a ride back to our hotel.

        Kids love it
It is a keep thing, my family was very confortable in the jeep, it was clean and the service at the reservation desk was outstanding. It was also an affordable choice for a family of four with kids that will not stay still on a 8 hours bus ride. The route that the desk people recommend us was a great choice too

        Quite ‘different’ as tours go
We loved this tour. McKenzie and Caleb were great guides and really good fun. Having a jeep convoy connected by radios was a new experience and the commentary could be heard clearly. Caleb gave us a continual flow of information about the sites around us. It was interesting chatting with the other couple in our jeep and we got to see lots of wildlife AND the elusive mountain itself!

Really fun, full of good vistas and great intel. All of us loved it
1st, Cailyn (sp?) is the best. she was super cool, quite informative and loved that my 11yr old boy riding with us was asking so many questions, etc.. she knew everything, and i mean everything. we drove 1 jeep with me, the boy and my father in law. my wife took another one with my daughter and mother in law. there were 2 other jeeps of people plus the lead jeep. you listen over the CB to all the cool info, pointing out just about everything. the time flew by. highly recommend this trip.

        Verify your own Jeep
It was an enjoyable trip. Austin and Mark did a good job. We saw some wildlife from a distance - swans and moose. But be careful when you sign up. It sounds like you get your own Jeep, but you don’t. They put four to a Jeep, so a couple is likely to get combined with another couple and share the driving. Could be a 90 year old that won’t keep up or college kids that drive crazy. Might be worthwhile paying for the private upgrade.

My mom and I too the Denali Jeep excursion on June 13, 2022. When we first got to the facility (which is across the street from the Princess Denali Wilderness Lodge) we were met with so many friendly faces and we got such a warm welcome. We told them we were there for the excursion and they promptly got us checked in (after a minor scare, but the AWESOME staff found us a jeez and got us going!) The tour was absolutely incredible, the views from the highway were to die for, the weather was incredible, and the Jeeps were all very clean and well kept. Our tour guides, Kaylee and Tommy, were both very fun and knowledgeable.
Kaylee was the tour guide that drove us to pick up the Jeeps (she was also on the Jeep drive) she was so kind and very knowledgeable about Denali and the highway we got to drive. She told my mom and I we would find a moose on the drive (and she pulled through like the AMAZING human she is!). She gave so much great information on the drive and laughed at all my mom and I’s corny jokes. Kaylee is defiantly a rockstar!
Tommy drove the lead jeep on our excursion. He had some amazing stories from his time in Alaska as well as having some incredible knowledge and facts about the area. During the tour Tommy was very engaging with everyone and made us feel so comfortable while we were out on the highway.
In all this was an amazing experience and a core memory for me that I will never forget! Thank you so much Kaylee and Tommy for making the Jeep excursion a night I will never forget! You both totally made our vacation amazing!

Denali Jeep excursion is a must when visiting Denali National Park and Preserve! We did the 7:30am tour on 7/30/22 and it exceeded our expectations. Patrick and Anna were awesome!!! My husband and I throughly enjoyed listening to Patrick talk about everything the knowledge just blew me away. Both Anna and Patrick were extremely helpful with answering all the questions asked and taking pictures of who ever asked. It’s also wonderful to drive the Denali Hwy in something that’s not ours… This Excursion is a must I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!!

Driving the Jeep was an easy way to see the landscape. It was a little cloudy the day we went out but our tour guide did everything in his power to make the trip the best. We stopped at photo opportunities and picked wild blueberries. The guide also shared his pictures of previous days when it was clear, with the group. All through the drive the guide was commentating on local history and wild life.

Day was overcast with a little sun and light showers. This was offset by a tour guide that was determined to make the best of it. Fun to drive a Jeep on a road full of potholes , rocks and mud. There were 3 vehicles in this group. Took turns taking the lead on the way back. Plenty of stops for pics when the sun peeked out. Plenty of snacks and water. Tour guide was excellent. Gave us very helpful tips of immediate area attractions.

Early morning pick up and ride out to the jeeps took a while. Colorful jeeps lined up waiting along with the two "guides"; one leads and one follows to keep all in tow. The jeeps are driven on a gravel road, not "into the wilds", once off the main road, and never go very fast making it a rather calm and collected ride. The only wildlife we saw were a couple ducks, but did get a peak at the tip of Denali in the far distance and other mountain range as the clouds were fewer. A few stops to take photos and have a snack provided such as goldfish and chips in small bags, and water. Love how Alaskans keep litter where it belongs! During the ride guides talk to jeeps via CB sharing information and stories, and jeeps can ask questions via their CBs. FYI, the road may be 135 miles long, the jeep excursion does not go that far.

“The guides were good, the stops were guide, the views were great.” That’s what the teenagers said. Makes it a win! Five in our family stuffed in a Jeep, “Red Lobster” and we had a great time. Tommy and Kylie were a lot of fun and kept the evening moving along. Time flew by and we were fortunate to be in a group of Jeeps that all contributed to conversation on the CB’s as we drove along. Saw moose and porcupine along the way. Stopped to observe the golden eagles. Recommend! Worth mentioning that they offered us a second Jeep (since more Jeeps were available - but we declined)!

We signed up for the early morning 4-hr Jeep excursion and so fun arriving at the launch site with so many colorful Jeep Wranglers. There were 4 of us and we easily fit in the 4-door Wrangler. Each Jeep was outfitted with a CB radio so we were able to communicate and/or hear our guides. Bailey & Miriam were outstanding and they easily and colorfully explained where we were, what we were seeing, and what to expect. They made the excursion so fun!!

The downside was the mosquitoes which we fully understand they have no control over but we made few stops, we didn't see wildlife (again not their fault), and we returned the same road we traveled out in. The Jeeps were fun to drive, the guides were excellent, the views were unbelievable, however, the drive back was a little boring and my family fell asleep.

I would still recommend this tour as you'll never terrain like this from the ice age but be prepared for a long trip. Enjoy!!

We were picked up at Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge by small shuttle bus. The drive out to headquarters where colorful Jeeps were parked took about 15 min. Our departure was delayed due to paperwork signing and waiting on a another shuttle bus to arrive. Our guides, Don & Miriam, led and followed the caravan of Jeep Wranglers along the partially paved and then gravel Denali Hwy. We saw Tundra swans, eagles, and an unplanned team of sled dogs with TV celebrity and Iditarod musher, Jessie Holmes. Our guides were informative, friendly, and followed safe driving speeds & procedures. We enjoyed two picture stops that included seeing the Alaska Range and walking on the spongy tundra. There was a quick outdoor restroom stop at a campsite. There were lots of mosquitos with standing water due to lots of rain. Be sure to dress for muddy conditions and rain. We enjoyed the personalized feel to this tour versus the Park bus experience. Although you are not off road, you feel you have ventured out into the wilderness with few others on the road. We felt safe with our guides knowing the area and ability to keep in touch with everyone by CB radio.

We rode the train into Denali so we decided to rent a Jeep for 4 hours to be able to tour independently. This rental was the best experience. The process was fast, thorough and friendly. The shuttle driver was prompt and made sure we understood how it would work. Our kiddo forgot her iPad case in the shuttle and on the day we were departing (we didn’t notice it was missing until the day we were leaving) one of the employees used her personal car to drive to a different property it was mistakenly returned to. They really went above and beyond and I can’t thank them enough for going the extra mile for us. Highly recommend this company!

This excursion was so fun. Tommy was a wonderful, knowledgeable guide. I loved the interaction with the cb radios and the stories Tommy shared along with some of the stories and jokes from everyone on the tour.

The drive was beautiful. I highly recommend this and will certainly do it again if I’m back in the area. If you do this excursion, ask for Tommy to be one of the guides, he has so many great stories and does research on lots of thing s in the area and can almost answer any question you ask.
