      Jose was terrible!
My dad and I recently had a very unpleasant experience with Segway Puerto Rico and especially with Jose. We booked an afternoon tour for two. The office was closed up until 5 minutes before we were suppose to start. Jose was not very welcoming when we got there. We had to wait about 15 minutes for the other party scheduled to arrive. Once we got started Jose was very condescending to my dad and seemed annoyed that he was in the tour. He proceeded to put us through a series of tests, non of which I have ever done before other Segway tours. My dad was unable to complete the test in which you have to drive the Segway up a ramp and balance it in the middle for ten seconds. This was difficult even for me. Eventually Jose asked my dad to get off his Segway and alluded that he was not going to be able to go. This is where the majority of my frustration began. I told Jose that we’d not go on the tour and would like a refund. He told me to contact TripAdvisor and they might help me. I told him I booked through the company website. He refused to give me a contact number for someone to help us. Told me that there were rules for being able to go, he didn’t know them and I could look them up. I asked how I would have record that we didn’t attend the tour and he told me that he keeps and log and “they” will read it in the log. Jose led us to believe that he was simply an employee and had no control. However, after reading other reviews it appears that Jose is the owner of the Segway company. I eventually found a phone number and called and left a message. Ten days later and I still have not received a call back. We will be disputing this charge with our credit card company. My dad and I have done Segway tours all over the world and this was a terrible experience. I would not recommend this tour.

      Very informative and enjoyable tour!
We were in San Juan 2 days before our cruise and booked the Segway tour to be able to see as much of old San Juan as possible in the short time we had. At the prescribed time, Jose met us at his office at Pier2 and after ensuring the helmets and handlebars were sanitized began the training on how to operate the Segway. We are both in our 60s and my wife was a little nervous however Jose very clearly and patiently provided the instruction we needed to feel confident on the Segways. There were only the 2 of us on the tour so the training didn’t take long and we were on our way. Jose is extremely knowledgeable and the amount of history in old San Juan is staggering. The longer we were on the segways the more comfortable we felt and there are opportunities to get off to take pictures along the tour. We brought a small backpack with water however in the excitement forgot it in the office however there were opportunities along the tour to buy water from vendors which we did. This was an experience we will not forget and would highly recommend.

Great way to see Old San Juan
We cruised on RC Anthem of the Seas. Timing was perfect for us to book a two hour tour at 10:30am. Training was completed and off we went. Jose, our guide, did a great job! He gave us a great history lesson as we toured, including our visit to El Morro. I highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for a unique way to see this beautiful city.

Amazing way to see San Juan
We had a great time on these, the pick up point was really easy to find right near to the cruise ships port. Was initially worried about using them but after 10 minutes of instruction/practice with Jose we were ready to take to the town. We had a great time zooming around, found them very easy to use as long as you listen to Jose’s instructions. Was very interesting and informative and great fun, would definitely recommend for all.

      fun for all
This was a very good tour. We had a group of three and had a great time. My grandmother who is 83 and had never ridden a segway had a great time. When you arrive you have to watch the what not to do video, then you step on the segway. Jose the guide was very thorough in instruction you had to go over bumps, around cones, up an incline and stop on inclines. We all felt comfortable on the segways before ever hitting the streets. The guide Jose was very knowledgeable and a great historian for the area. I never felt rushed and it was a lot of fun. You are given an earpiece so you can hear the guide as you go along that is the first time I've had that and it was great because you didn't have to be close to the guide to hear him. We all loved the tour and would highly recommend it.

2nd time and would do it again!
This is the second time we have done this excursion from our ship, and we would do it again. I was very impressed with the improvements that had been made, such as: ear phones to hear the guide, more stops and more history, and very efficient training. We enjoyed the experience again greatly

THE MAIN THING WE WANTED TO DO.
The guide was very rude to me. I've never ridden a Segway. My husband so wanted to to ride one. It was for three hours. My guide told me he didn't think it was the ride for me, that I should not go. That would have meant my husband wouldn't have gone and left me, and if had been when a person that would have left me, there was no place to wait. They lock up the office for three hours. I asked him to give me another chance. You have to practice up a fake hill, and stop half way down and hold it there for 5 seconds. I was the last one to get on a Segway. Hadn't got to practice like the others. The guide was ready to go. Some people were saying stay straight and you can do it. Others saying bend your knees. I asked the guide what I was supposed to do. His answer was 'I'm not going to tell you'. Some how I managed to do it. Went on the trip. But I was so mad, and so hurt, that I was miserable the whole time. My husband had not heard what he said to me, or I don't think we would have gone. I knew how bad he wanted to ride one, and he loved it. He would do it again. You only watch a video to see how to ride. That doesn't help you learn to balance. I think it would have been fun if the guide had some patience, and some manners. I'm home now, and still upset over how I was treated. We did it on our first day there.

      excellent time
the office is a little tough to find. it's at pier 2 but i saw no signs identifying pier 2. if you see large cruise ships it's not that pier. it's the one to the left of that. there is a subway. it's to the left of that. no segway signs out. you just have to walk down and then see the name on the ship window our tour was 10-12. nothing to do if you show up early if you drive. dona fela parking garage is a couple of blocks away spent 45 minutes training. if you already know how this is a bit of a waist. if you are new this was a great training. they did spend time showing you how to do inclines and speed bumps you do have some steep paths and some narrow areas to navigate but guide was very helpful the tour itself (with audio live headsets) was very good. see the highlights. takes you into the fort and some other places (bathroom break halfway through). a number of photo op stops. all in all. great experience.

Great tour. For us the instructional time was part of the two hour tour. Still had a lot of time to tour the city. Would certainly recommend.

Best way to visit the Fort
We had a wonderful tour guide who was a Puerto Rican native. He gave us all a short lesson,(because that's all you need~they're easy), on how to ride the segways. The history he knew was incredible. It gave us a better understanding of why the island is the way it is. This was, by far, the best way to tour the fort as there is much walking otherwise. Well worth the money and it was one of the most fun things we did, along with hiking the El Younqe Rain Forest.

Motorcycle tours too!!! Best vacation day I ever had.
If you like riding? This is the way to go. You choose the BMW size for you, show up and your off. The guide Hosea will adapt the route to your abilities, and your desired sights. The bikes are fantastic, on road or off the road, they are like new, handled well and were all around a solid piece of machinery. Length of the route: ours came in a little long at 194 miles, for the day. We saw the beach, monuments to Columbus, the rain forest, complete with rain, and the tallest peak on the island. Plenty of stops for sight seeing. The meals and refreshments were all inclusive in the price, we had an afternoon seafood appetizer plate on the beach, followed by some local fare well up into the mountains at a very nice resort style restaurant. And then even a night cap back at headquarters with our guide, who could not have made our day any better. The route was fabulous I believe we hit every curve on the island as we traveled up and over the mountain, The sights from monuments to waterfalls were just absolutely gorgeous. Hosea was friendly, professional, and very accommodating, tailoring the ride so that we got the most out of our time while ensuring for our safety as well. If I ever get back to Puerto Rico I'll be taking the several days tour instead of just the 1 day tour.

      Fun Trip!
Our guide, Jorge, was very patient when he was teaching us to ride (which took less than 5 minutes). He was also very knowledgeable about the area and history. The scenery was beautiful! The whole experience was very fun and I would recommend this to anyone.

      A "must do"!
I've segway'd before - love it. Always take advantage where I can.... On this occasion, organised by the cruise ship I was on. Jose was great - very patient with the newbies. To be honest, it was a bit boring making sure they all knew what to do, but I understand why it had to be done.... Then we went for a tour of the city, stopping off at key points so he could give us some history. We even went inside the fort (included in price). Well worth the money.

      Great tour
Highly recommend this tour, as you can see a lot within the 2 hours and the segways are so much fun. Best part was riding up the El Morro hill while others sweated the walk up 😀 Jose was very patient with the newbees and was very knowledgable on the history and other interesting facts.

History of San Juan is crazy!!!
We loved this tour. So much history and knowledge from Jose.
He was so great showing the newcomers how to ride a Segway. Best instruction I’ve seen. Jose was schooled (besides being a local native) on the specific history of the island going back to the 1500’s. You wear a headset so you can actually hear his dialogue. Very interesting!! The hills in San Juan are quite steep. I wouldn’t have wanted to walk all of those cobblestone roads!! I’d recommend this tour to those who love history and like to have a good time. There is an excellent coffee store next door to where the tour begins. It was easy to communicate with Jose (USA phone was a local call) so he was able to text us on ship and on land. Enjoy!!!

    Great Tour Guide

If you like Segway tours or this is your first one a fun tour. Our tour guide was very meticulous showing new riders how to ride and be safe. He did a great job narrating the trip, learned a lot about Old San Juan and it’s just always fun. I great way to get your bearings when you first visit Old San Juan and it helps you decide what you want to go back and see.

The best way to see San Juan
    Mar 2020
Really great tour that was definitely the best way to see San Juan. I have done many Segway tours and I would say that the training Jose makes everyone do before they start the tour, is the most comprehensive that I have done, to ensure that everyone is confident. Most of our party were complete novices and they did just fine. We came at the beginning of March when Covid was a thing, but not on the island. I have to say that we arrived before everyone else and Jose sure sanitised the hell out of those helmets and handlebars of the Segway. We saw all of the landmarks with a detailed explanation of the history, Jose actively encourages questions. If you need to find the Segway office, just ask any of the retailers selling food or gifts on the sea front, they all know Jose and will point you in the right direction.

Segway tour of Old San Juan with 2 teenagers
    Jan 2020
My wife and I took the Segway tour with our 2 teenage sons. Before you go out on the road, the guide gives you very careful and patient instruction in how to control the Segway. Basic navigation, going up hill and down hill, etc. One of us were not too confident during some of this and our guide was super patient to be sure all felt good about the ride. When we got out on the tour he was incredible. So much history told with passion (and humor). We saw so much and could never cover that much ground in the same amount of tie. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the history and recommend all to do this without hesitating!

    History with a fun twist!
    Nov 2023 • Friends
Enthralled by this experience. We booked via Trip Advisor, then the cruise company delayed our arrival by a day, but the company were really efficient at refunding then rebooking a later time. On arrival, Josef sterlised the helmets and after ten minutes practice and tuition, we set off on a 2hr tour of the old town. As Segway virgins we picked up the technique very quickly. He was very attentive, made lots of stops and imparted tremendous knowledge about San Juan and it's fascinating history. Absolutely recommend this tour- great fun. Brilliant.

Family tour of Historic San Juan
It’s hard to impress boys at 14, 15 and 20 years old but this tour did just that. We loved being able to cover a lot of ground in Old San Juan with Jose as our guide to share his knowledge of the rich history. Segways were the perfect vehicle to keep the boys engaged too. Location is right at the cruise port and try the coffee and empanadas next door at Cafe Calao. You won’t be disappointed!

Segway through Old Town San Juan
For my first time riding a Segway, I was impressed at how quickly I was able to pick up on it. Our instructor, Jose, was very helpful in giving the group tips on how to stay balanced and “be stronger than the Segway.” He also really knows his history and it was very interesting. Unfortunately, I couldn’t hear everything he was saying because from time to time he would share facts while riding and I wasn’t right behind him.

I wish the Segway had better cushioning for the feet. Mine were burning because of the hard surface. Looking back, I would have asked for more stops to take pictures too because there weren’t built in stops specifically for photo ops. Overall, great experience and I’m glad I did it!

    Fabulous time
Our guide Jose was super patient with all of us. There were 6 in our group and he really took the time to make sure we were all comfortable with the segway. He had so much knowledge and shared it with us. Very personable. He shared fun and historical stories with humor and passion I had a little bit of difficulty but he just told me to breathe. 😁

Great historical tour of Old San Juan
We enjoyed our Segway tour of Old San Juan. Jose ran a safe tour and knew his history. Jose did a nice job navigating the OSJ traffic so we could get around and see all of the sights of the fort and wall.
The history is amazing and insights that I was not aware of. We even saw where Ponce De Leon was laid to rest in the church that he built.
San Juan continues to be a strategic location for the US now as it was for the Spanish and the many countries that tried to invade it.
This was our 41st segway tour and it did not disappoint.
    I highly recommend this tour.
    Enjoy!!!

I loved the Segway tour in Old San Juan. Our guide was great about giving us a lesson on riding the segways before we started and making sure everyone was comfortable driving them. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Puerto Rico and San Juan. It was fun to go around the city without having to walk everywhere. (As a side note, they are strict on the weight limit and do make people step on the scale to verify they are not above the weight limit. Plan accordingly.)
