    What to Expect
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Laguna Grande, Cabezas Nature Reserve Northeastern Coast Puerto Rico

Join this fully-guided nighttime bioluminescent bay kayak adventure, one of the most memorable experiences in Puerto Rico.

Experience the Pyrodinium Bahamense, a microscopic plankton capable of producing natural light at the touch of your hand (like fireflies)! Learn how this fragile and unique ecosystem maintains a perfect balance of life and learn what you can do to protect such a special place.

You will paddle your way for 30 minutes each way in a two person glass-bottom kayak, through the mystical mangrove channels leading to the Natural Reserve at Laguna Grande (please read complete description for weight and other restrictions). Once you arrive to the area of the lagoon where the bioluminescence can be best experienced, our guides will explain how this entire ecosystem works and will allow you to play with the water to see this effect (swimming not allowed).

Once tour has concluded light snacks will be available for participants to regain their energy, before heading back to San Juan.

    Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

The kayaking was a wonderful family experience. I shared a kayak with my 9 year old son and my husband was in a kayak with my 12 year old daughter. Although it was physically demanding, we really enjoyed ourselves. This tour is not for you...More

We went during a full moon, so our expectations weren't sky high. Also, when we asked our driver on the way there if there were lots of bugs, his reply was a simple, "yes. Lots of mosquitos." So we were prepared for the worse. Turns...More

The tour guides were excellent, very friendly, knowledgeable on the area and the wildlife, and helpful to any struggling paddlers. Here are...More

You need to be on the water and actually disturb the water. As the guides explained, the plankton glow as a defense mechanism when they think they're going to be eaten. This illuminates their predator to become pray for... More

I took the evening tour and would recommend that. The guides are exceptional and you won't have any troubles. It's not pitch black so that you can't see anything.
