Overview
Ride through picturesque St. Maarten while seeing the best the island has to offer on this 3.5-hour double decker bus tour from Philipsburg. See the tandem rule of France and Holland at play from atop the island’s only open-air double decker bus and stop at numerous local tourist sites for a visit and a photo. Wander the beach at Orient Bay, marvel at the French architecture of Marigot and go plane-spotting on Maho Beach during this spectacular tour of the beautiful island. This family-friendly experience is the perfect way for first-time visitors to see the island and is great for travelers of every age.
What to Expect
As soon as you depart the harbor you’ll start to enjoy the charm and scenery of this dual personality island which has been flying the flags of both Holland and France since 1648. You will drive from Phillipsburg, the Dutch capital, past the Great Salt Pond and through the countryside. The sightseeing will continue across the north side of the island until the first stop at Orient Bay for pictures on the water or a drink at the beach.
Then you will hop-on the open-top double decker bus with sand in your feet to continue the sightseeing through several quaint towns and fishing villages, including Grand Case known for its lovely beaches and exquisite restaurants. The next stop will be at Marigot, the French capital, where you’ll observe a truly European atmosphere as you browse the waterside open-air markets, quaint shops, boutiques and sidewalk cafes. After your brief sojourn in Marigot you’ll return to the Dutch side and stop at Maho Beach where if you're lucky a plane will just pass over your head to land in the most spectacular airport in the Caribbean.
The tour continues across the south where you will have a spectacular view of the Mega Yachts in Simpson Bay lagoon. The tour ends back in Philipsburg, so you can stay for shopping, beaches and all that Philipsburg has to offer before you go back to ship, or hotel.

A rip-off

This tour in 2018 is a scam because in their brochure they advertise a tour around the whole island. However, they just do the Maho/Simpson-beach/Philipsburg-region which is not even half. The French part is left out. The bus driver explained that this was due to...More

We took this tour in July 2018 while on a cruise to St Maarten. Although some parts of ST Maarten are still not accessable due to hurricane damage we still enjoyed this 3.5 hr tour. The narrated trip took us through populated and remote areas....More

Excellent Tour Of The Island

Went on the double decker tour as an excursion. The driver and tour guides where very nice and information, most of the tour was told via head sets, that did provide a little bit of disconnect from the guides. I thought the places they took...More

Beware! Religious Propaganda Tour.

You will not be given adequate directions to find the tour, but you will be told on more than one occasion during the tour about the Muslim religion and how many have found "True peace by following Allah the only true god." As we sat...More

Good scenic tour, but strange stops along the way.

When driving through the area it was very sad to see the wreckage still about from the hurricane. The tour while driving around was great, but I question the stops we made. A cheese shop, who can take cheese home with them on a cruise?...More

The island sightseeing tour is geared to tourists arriving by cruise ship. However, we travelled under our own 'steam'. Following our confirmation from Viator - our booking agent - we contacted the local tour firm by email... More
