- andrewbV2407DV00Lucia is the bestAbsolutely fantastic class with Lucia! She was very knowledgeable about cooking, Mexico and very charming to spend an afternoon with. I highly recommend working with her.
- L8783STdonw00Truly yummy classOMG! What a wonderful cooking experience this was. Margarita is charming, informative, and patient. And the food she taught us to cook was scrumptious. Highly recommended!
- 923ilya00Great experience with Travelling SpoonWe really enjoyed the class with Mariana, visiting the local market and learning to cook 4 dishes in a beautiful setting. Mariana was very accommodating to my allergies and designed a menu around some dishes we were keen to try. Lovely to spent time with Mariana learning about food, cooking techniques and Mexican culture. Thank you!
- sach_travels00An amazing experience start to finishThe best experience we could have asked for to kick off our México City trip. Margarita was a wonderful host. We made delicious traditional dishes and had wonderful drinks in her beautiful home. We cannot recommend this cooking class enough. Truly an amazing experience start to finish.
- Pratiksha R00Memorable afternoon with LuciaWe had a memorable afternoon with Lucia! She was incredibly welcoming and generous with her knowledge. Lucia was accommodating with our requests for recipes to specific dishes. We really enjoyed cooking with her, and the meal was one of the tastiest meals we had in Mexico.
- Q1915YXantoineb00Wonderful experience with MargaritaMargarita was an amazing host. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time with her and almost could not leave her house. She had a genuine interest for getting to know us and sharing her knowledge about Mexican food and cuisine. The meals we made were simple, yet very rewarding to learn because they were things none of us had made before and could pretty easily recreate at home. She is also trained as a food stylist, so everything from the plates to the table to her house were very pretty! All in all, a great experience. Thank you Margarita!
- Katherine S00Best cooking class everThis was such an amazing experience! Margarita was such a lovely host, great food, great conversation and her home is lovely. We are already talking about joining her again during Día de los Muertos. I have lots of food allergies and Margarita was very accommodating and our food was incredible. 5 stars all around!!!! Do make sure you contact her before the day of so she knows about any food aversions and she can help with directions, as CDMX geography can be a bit tricky.
- eztyger00Cooking amazing food. Creating new friends. An amazing experience, HIGHLY recommend! Started with a welcome drink and then a short walk of the streets of beautiful San Angel to the local market, stopping the stalls to sample tortillas and seeing different types of produce we'd be using that day. More than just a food tour, it become a small sightseeing adventure being shared the history of Mexico, Mexican food, the community, and traditions. We cooked Conchinita Pibil, making our own salsa in molcejetes, pressing our own sope (tortillas) and enjoying some Mexican wine as we did it. With amazing conversation and history along the way. We ended it with a lunch in the garden of an amazing home, learning more about the cuisine, and laughing as though we were long-time friends enjoying a catch-up meal. One recommendation: if experiencing in San Angel, come early (or stay late) and take some time to enjoy the town. It's beautiful.
- Rinister00Most authentic cooking class you will find! This was one of the best foreign cooking classes I have ever taken. Margarita is a fantastic, warm and inviting host. I loved being in her home and hearing her stories about life in Mexico city. I took the class w/ my friend from Venezuela in Margarita's kitchen. The experience was just for the two of us. The personal touch and feeling like a family friend made this experience very memorable. I also loved her teaching style- having us pay attention to textures, smells, and colors to know when things are ready versus having us just prep or do simple steps and later give a recipe. I really feel like I can make these dishes at home! And, of course, the food was amazing. We were taught how to make almond mole and it was the best mole I've ever had. The dessert was also perfect, not too sweet, using fresh fruits and cream filling. She was also generous to share some Mexican wines with us. I cannot say enough about this experience! Highly recommended. When I find myself back in CDMX I will take another class with her to learn something different. Muchisimas gracias Margarita- Carlos y Erin
- historygal1400Amazing Cooking Experience with a Personal TouchWe had an amazing experience with Mariana and Geraldine! As soon as we arrived, we were off to look around the local market. As we walked around the various stalls, Mariana and Geraldine did a great job explaining the traditional Mexican foods and objects we saw. Then we returned to Geraldine’s lovely family home to prepare a delicious dinner of cochinita pibil, red rice, and hand-pressed sopes. We learned so many new techniques and ingredients that we will use to improve our Mexican cooking when we return home. The sisters also educated us about the history of Mexican cooking and had great recommendations for restaurants and activities to try during the rest of our stay in Mexico City. Geraldine and Mariana were gracious and friendly and worked hard to provide us with a unique experience that we will never forget! Highly recommended with no hesitation!
- GretchenJ17600Lovely evening with lovely people and delicious food! Our family of five (three young adult daughters and parents) had such an enjoyable experience with Geraldine and Mariana! The market tour was relaxed and informative, and their home and neighborhood were beautiful, I wish we had arrived earlier to do some shopping because the stores and boutiques were very enticing! The class was mostly demonstrations but we received very clear and helpful ideas about how to make the dishes at home. We did participate in Sopa and tortillas making! The meal in the garden was easy and delicious. We talked about local topics, and their cookbooks and left with more insight about things to do and eat for the rest of our stay! Really fun and authentic experience - do not hesitate to book this class with these very accomplished and knowledgeable chefs!
- Audrey L00Information & Delicious Cooking ExperienceMargarita made the experience very pleasurable and informative. We had a quick yet interesting tour of the local market. The drive back-and-forth also gave us a glimpse of her beautiful neighborhood. She did a great job planning ahead and making the cooking experience, insightful and rewarding. Her house is beautiful and the backyard was a pleasure to sit in while dining.
- Corinna H00¡Que rico! A delicious lesson in Mexican traditionWe really enjoyed our cooking class with Lucia! We started our day with an informative tour of the San Angel market learning about local spices, produce, etc before heading to her beautiful home. We were happy that the menu incorporated our requests to learn to cook local produce. The process of preparing the meal was very well organized with every detail thought out. We made quesdillas filled with flor de calabaza and huitlacoche with salsa verde as an appetizer. Then we had huanzontles in a guajillo sauce with rice, and xoconostle in syrup for dessert. Everything tasted great, and we look forward to making these recipes (along with the other suggestions that came up as we were cooking and chatting) when we get home. Overall, this was a really fun experience, and we recommend it highly!
- Jamal N00Simple and enjoyableWe had a quick visit to San Angles market. Margarita taught us to cook a three course meal. Weather was amazing and we enjoyed few drinks in her beautiful backyard. She is an excellent host.
- Nick B00The best cooking class in all of Mexico! We had a fantastic morning of cooking! My mother and I enjoyed a delicious menu of fresh flavorful ingredients. The experience is very hands on with chopping, sauteing, making quesadillas with masa, grinding vegetables into salsa. It was amazing. The joy of the class is the host, Lucia! She's warm, patient, and open! She's excited to share and teach. Her background on food and history is phenomenal! Also her house is beautiful with a great backyard and cute dog! She is also open to you suggesting what types of foods you'd like to make. This is a 10/10 experience and a must try if in CDMX.

The cooking lesson with Lucia was a highlight of our trip! The meal was delicious - we’re eagerly waiting recipes via email to try at home.
Lucia welcomed us into her beautiful home like old friends. As we worked, she demonstrated and explained steps and techniques.
We appreciate that Lucia was well organized: she sent the menu before we arrived; considered a food allergy; included requested Lime Soup on menu.
Lucia included many delicious special touches: Margaritas from recipe she enjoys and recently received; ant eggs tostada; vegan mole taco; great green salsa; delicious guacamole; corn cake with rompope sauce.
Lucia’s kitchen was well-designed/laid out. The set-up allowed for us to easily watch, listen, and participate.

An afternoon with Lucia is a great way to carve out an intimate experience in such a large populated city. We had been to a market beforehand and had so many questions as to what things were so we brought all our questions for Lucia.
Lucia will walk you through the tastes, history and use of native Mexican food/ingredients. Returning to her beautiful home, you get a hands-on lesson making a 3-course meal and a possibly a few extras ;). Lucia (and her housekeeper) are such warm people; a lesson from them is like having your own mother passing down a family recipe. Lucia has impeccable English so can easily share her knowledge and expertise. Once our meal was made we all sat down in the dining room to enjoy our meal together and had a chance to get to know one another.
Many thanks Lucia!
Tip: don't plan a tightly scheduled day as your lesson may run a bit over...like any good dinner party!

This class was a birthday gift for my mom, and Lucia really made it a special and memorable experience. We tried lots of interesting fruits and spices at the market, then cooked several delicious recipes at her beautiful home. I especially liked that she chose recipes that I will be able to replicate back home in the US - the ingredients were not so specialized that they would be hard to find, and the preparation was complicated enough to be fun, but not so difficult that I couldn't do it on my own.

Alex is a personable, knowledgeable and talented cook. We had fun shopping at the nearby market for ingredients for our 6 dish dinner, tasting tropical fruit and other goodies along the way.
Our private class in Alex's home was a highlight of our 1 week stay in Mexico City. We were assigned small tasks to help prepare and learn about the dishes we were making. I enjoyed learning about cooking with fresh and dried chilis. The menu was quite ambitious, preparing several appetizers, the main dish and dessert. Alex made it fun and effortless.Taking a class in someone's private home is so much better than at a cooking school. We felt a personal bond form.

Four of us met Lucia at the market where we spent ~30 minutes walking around the market, sampling local products, and picking up a few things. I really wanted to find a molcajete to bring home and Lucia was great about helping me find a vendor that sold one for a good price.
After the market we hopped in her car for a quick ride back to her beautiful home where we spent the next few hours making mole and tamales. The class was great and very hands on - even with 4 of us there was something for everyone to do. Lucia was fantastic at explaining things and super patient and relaxed. The food turned out wonderfully and it was fun chatting with her over lunch.
While her place is 20-30 minutes outside the main tourist areas of Condesa and Roma, it's definitely worth the trip. It's a $5 USD Uber ride and the San Angel neighborhood is nice to walk around. If you book for Saturday, you could also combine it with the nearby Bazaar Sabado.

We couldn't have been more impressed with Lucia and our cooking lesson. We were a group of 4 adults and two teens. She was in contact before our lesson and crafted a menu based on our likes/dislikes and special requests. She met us at her local market, where she knew most of the vendors, and they were happy to take a moment to chat and offer us tastes of the various foods they sold. After the market tour, we went to Lucia's home for our cooking class--by way of her beautiful historic neighborhood. Her home was just lovely, with a kitchen large enough to allow all of us to help with the cooking at the same time. Lucia was so personable and fun! She made us feel welcome and right at home. She demonstrated and explained all of the steps and techniques we used while cooking and also told us about some specific ingredients to look for in the US. After everything was prepared, we sat around her dining table to enjoy great conversation and the delicious meal we'd made with her.
Lucia was incredibly kind and welcoming and it felt like all of us made a real connection. She went out of her way to come up with some suggestions about where we could find a good meal on New Year's Eve, even making a few calls while we were still there to see if she could help us acquire a reservation!
We can't recommend her highly enough.
Thank you Lucia!

My friends and I took a private cooking class from Lucia in her home during our trip to Mexico City. Lucia was incredibly warm, generous and welcoming, and the class was super informative. She taught was how to make tamales and chicken mole, all while giving us a Mexican history/culture lesson. Lucia also gave us some delicious tequila while we cooked.
Class and dinner with Lucia was the highlight of my trip. I can't recommend Lucia enough!
I agree with previous reviewers, Lucia speaks perfect english, she is a great teacher, and you should leave plenty of time to hang out. We were there for approximately 4 hours.
Thanks Lucia!

Ismael was super friendly and fun to spend a few hours with. I learned a lot from him during the market visit and cooking lesson. The food - from the guacamole to the sopa de lima to the ponche - was delicious. And the pipian was a revelation. Thanks so much, Ismael!
