We had booked the Lake Louise and Moraine Lake tour as we saw that parking was an issue. Both spots were amazing and some good pit stops along the way, Pickup was 30min late, to the point where I had to call a couple of times because I thought we were in the wrong spot/they forgot about us. Then the A/C in the bus was not working and it was sweltering in there. Difficult to hear the guide in the bus as the speakers weren’t loud enough too. A good afternoon still and great views. Happy we booked it regardless. I suspect this was growing pains just getting back into the tour routine.

A fantastic experience! We were picked up from outside our hotel and taken on a lovely journey up to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. At first, I was anxious about the 45min journey as I get very travel sick but our wonderful guide, Tyler “Buck”, kept the journey enjoyable with his stories and information. We stopped for just over an hour at the scenic Lake Louise to take pictures, wander along the trails and grab a snack from the Fairmont Hotel. We got a further 45min at Moraine Lake further up the road, which is just as picturesque and beautiful as you hear. Buck was excellent at advising us of the best paths to take, locations of washrooms and any other snippets of information that might’ve been useful. Another enjoyable journey back and dropped back off at our hotel. Honestly one of the most enjoyable activities we did on our trip and couldn’t recommend the tour and Buck more. Thank you!

The whole trip was awesome. There’s enough time for each lake to enjoy the views and take pictures of those breathtaking views of the lake esp lake Moraine . Our guide Tyler is fun , lots of stories to tell , actually an excellent story teller making our trip more enjoyable . Actually just finished our tour the other day

This tour bus enables a day visit during peak season bypassing the long line of cars, many of which were turned away. Sitting for 50 minutes in the parking lot in Banff without air conditioning was both a waste of time and unprofessional. These large vans lack proper cooling systems as none of the windows can open. The driver kept apologizing for the heat but did not seem to understand the basic controls in the van. I almost passed out and several just went to sleep in the hot stuffy van. The limited time we had to self-tour the lakes made arranging other options to get there a better choice.

Hi Ken. We are terribly sorry about the air conditioning. We have since retrained the guide on how to operate it correctly. As to the windows it would be very rare to have a commercial bus for which they could open. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Banff.

These lakes are absolutely beautiful and our guide Giselle was knowledgeable and very kind.
30 minutes at each lake is nowhere near enough if you want to get the full experience! With the walking distances it barely provides enough time to take in the beautiful views of these lakes, let alone buy a coffee or go for a walk around the lake. I wish it was increased to 1hr each.
The maple snack was a good reward for a hard day doing nothing at the end though!

Hi Louise. Thanks for the comments. Our tour is structured to be a half day, and as such we we can only spend a certain amount of time at each of the Lakes. I know for certain its easy to spend all day at either of them!

We spent 2 amazing guided tours with Jeff for the whole day. He was very friendly, we learned so much about Banff, lake louise, and Moraine lake as well as the wildlife the history of mountain climbers ans rescuers and so much more. I strongly recommend taking a tour with Jeff, he also took amazing pictures of us while hiking.

Wow! What can I say? I took my daughter to Banff for her 25th birthday. We only had 2 days and I wanted to get in as much as we could. I booked the afternoon tour. We learned all sorts of interesting tidbits along the way. We also stopped at 4 locations including Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Just absolutely breathtaking! The tour went a little late being about 5 hours. The bus that normally holds 24 passengers, had only 8 of us. Easy to socially distance. Our guide Andrew was knowledgeable, friendly, funny and made the tour worth every penny! I highly recommend this attraction!

We just finished our half day Lake Louise and Moraine Lake tour. Our guide and driver was Anike(sorry for spelling). She was awesome. She told us the history of the area, the history of the lakes and glaciers, and little known facts. She also could answer about any question she was asked. The lakes are spectacular. I’ve never seen anything similar. A great half day. And we saw a bear!! Highly recommend.

We took the lake Louise and Moraine tour on July 20th. Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The bus was clean and the stress of finding parking was gone!
It was a super hot day and the AC on the bus was not working properly so that made the journey very uncomfortable. The sound system on the bus was also very quiet so despite the guides best efforts it was very hard to hear her commentary at the back of the bus.
30 minutes was allocated for each lake and for us that was just not enough for lake Louise. An all day tour to lake Louise would be a wonderful addition to the tours this company offers.

Absolutely great half day tour! totally recommended.
We had Kelsie as our tour guide and she was nothing short of amazing, her knowledge for the region was unparalleled, even being from Aus, she has such an intense and interesting knowledge for the region, she was engaging, kind and fun. It was a totally no stress tour. She gave us freedom to do our thing, but gave us all the information to ensure we enjoyed our stops.
Kelsie is the one you want on this tour. I noted she had a trainee onboard with her, he was nothing short of unprofessional, was more interested in taking videos and photos of the ride - thats is what WE'RE paying for, help slept most of the way into the park and often knocking into my shoulder with his head during sleep. Complete lack of professionalism. He would often take pics/videos in front of me, like a tourist, not an employee, he sat with me, as opposed to upfront with Kelsie. This was the only downside for today, if you can train him to be personable and not fall asleep on the job, allow the tourists to be tourists and he an employee ( he must realise, some of us have travelled a world away and his desire for pics and videos did not exceed mine as i paid you for this reason. Kelsie is the only reason you get a 5 star, what an attribute she is to your company. !

Hi, just purchased tickets for August 2022, after reading common questions and answers I see the bus leaves at either 8 am or 1 pm. In signing up, I did not see an option to choose departing time. In description it doesn’t mention specific pick up times and drop off times? Thank you.

Do they allow canoeing at Moraine Lake during the first week of October? If so, which rental company provides canoes/kayaks at Moraine Lake?
DiscoverBanffTours
Banff, Canada2 contributions
HI Anita,
The Moraine Lake Lodge (which operates the canoe dock) closes at the end of September each year so this would not be possible unless you were to self-drive (very early in the day) with your own canoe. Lake Louise usually offers canoeing until later in the season, weather dependent.
Is the tour senior friendly? We plan to go from Calgary on a road trip with my 84 yr old Mom. She walks slow though not on wheelchair or walker/cane, can she manage to see the Lakes on the half-day tour? How long is the walk or climb to the lakes or lake view? We plan to go on Aug. 31st how's the weather that time? Also where can we park near the meeting place? Is it paid parking? Is there a toll-free number we can call to book over the phone? Thank you.

Each lakes are a short walk from where the tour mini bus parks, and you'll have around 30 minutes at each stop. The Rockpile is a short hike (800 metres round trip with a 30 metre elevation gain) may also be possible. Our tour is senior friendly, with small group sizes and a local guide. Typically July and August are peak summer months, with long warm sunny days. It's the perfect time to visit these lakes as they will be at their prime turquoise colour.

Can we stay at Lake Louise or Moraine Lake after the tour and catch public transportation back to Banff?
DiscoverBanffTours
Banff, Canada2 contributions
The lakeside accommodation at each lake (Moraine Lake Lodge and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise) is quite expensive and in high demand, so this would need to be booked in advance. Our vehicles do not typically accommodate luggage if you were to stay on after the tour although you can certainly contact us to check for a certain date. The return journey would be easier from Lake Louise as there is a public bus service from Roam Transit, this would be more difficult from Moraine Lake as you would be relying on getting a seat on the shuttle or a taxi.

The description says that tours are until early October. We will be there around the weekend of October 12th. Will this tour still be active and able to see Moraine Lake?
