We loved the ride and the scenery to Vancouver. Quick stop to pick up other passengers. Wasn’t crowded on this day which is a pro for me. Crew was nice and knowledgeable. Captain reminded me of Chuck Norris.

Our trip was supposed to include a 3 hour whale watching component followed by a two hour trip from Bucchart Cove to Vancouver. In the three hour "whale watching" part we watched 2 humpback whales for about 15 minutes from fairly far away. While I appreciate the sensitivity of

Hello Jean, We are very sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with our service. Every tour is unique in terms of what wildlife we observe and how much of the whales we see. Currently, it is federally mandated that vessels must stay at a distance of 400m from killer whales which has been in effect since June 1st 2019. As we are part of the Pacific Whale Watching Association, we are permitted to watch the Bigg`s (transient) whales at a distance of 200 metres. We can't comment on the distance that other companies are watching these whales from but at Prince of Whales, we take these distance regulations very seriously as not to influence the behavior of the marine animals in any way. We want to respect the fact that these are wild animals and we will remain impartial observers. It is unfortunate that you didn't see any killer whales with us. Humpbacks are breathtaking to see in the wild but we appreciate that you were hoping to see another species.

Hi, All in all I can say that it is the money worth, at least for student. I had lots of fun being on this boat(Ocean Magic II). Boat is really fast and you don't have to worry about getting sea sick. Taking warm clothes is a good idea, because even, when it is warm in Victoria

Thank you for your review and recommendation Joel! We are so glad that you had fun out on the water with us on our Ocean Magic II vessel! You are right about it being cold out on the water, and we always remind passengers to dress warm. We do provide blankets on board, so if you are feeling chilled just ask one of your on board guides for one to warm up. As you mentioned, photos can be difficult without a serious zoom lens, as we are required by law to remain 200m from killer whales. So unless you are a committed wildlife photographer, we recommend focusing on taking mental pictures so you don't end up experiencing the whole trip through a cell phone or camera view finder. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us and invite you to join us again the next time you are in Vancouver or Victoria!

Thank you Connie F for your wonderful review! We are so glad you enjoyed our Northbound Adventure Crossing Tour and our crew! You are correct that wildlife is just that, living their lives in the marine environment. In the wild, killer whales can swim up to 100 miles per day and are primarily focused on feeding. That being said in our peak season sightings months, the resident killer whale (fish eaters) patterns are more predictable as they are following the salmon, while the transient killer whales (the marine mammal eaters) are a bit less predictable. We are especially excited by the huge resurgence of Humpback whales to the Salish Sea, as they were hunted to the brink of extinction at the beginning of the 1900's. Thank you for taking note of our adherence to the viewing guidelines. We take great care in responsible whale and wildlife viewing, and want to leave as little impact as possible, apart from the impact on our guests of a memorable experience. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us and invite you to join us again the next time you are in Victoria!
