        Great day on Rottnest
Great day.very easy with complimentary shuttle bus pick up from easy to find pick up point in city.If last tour like us it also includes return shuttle to Perth which is so convenient. Our cray dog lunch was excellent and our Simmos icecream huge and delicious. We saw few Quokkas mainly around the cafe and old settlement buildings. Hop on off bus a little overcrowded we stayed on for the complete loop which proved best choice. Nice day all up.

A good coverage on WW11 local history!
Being interested in history this was a must for me. The train was not running so a bus replaced it; no issue really. We done the tour with Ian, it was very enlightening and comprehensive. You get to explore the full complex!

        Amazing views
Absolutely beautiful views along the coast of island. Was great to hop on and off the bus , you need to ask or press button for bus to stop. We asked guide at start which stops would be best for us to get off at and glad we did her advise was great. Loved our day and also did lots of walking at stops and between some short distance stops. 5/7.

If you pay by card the bond they don’t give it back
They still have to return my bond for the two bikes it’s a shame!! And i did the tour the 16th of February the 10 working days are passed already! I try to contact the operator through email, phone and another email and no one respond! For a company like this is not a good behavior! In the meantime they are still keeping my bond! Of 50$!!

The ferry trip was fine / well organised going out but a bit of a mess quayside coming back. No organisation on return quayside for 4 ferries leaving within 1/2 hour of each other . One big queue of passengers and bikes with little instruction from any staff . A complete free for all . Why not have ropes showing lines for each like airports ? Anyway the weather was great and we cycled to the south for the ‘best’ snorkelling. What a let down , little salmon bay was crowded with school kids shouting and screaming . There was not much to see in the water , grey and silver fish but little of any colour . It was the same at all our stops. The beaches are good but very crowded. It was nice to cycle round , a little hilly for some so walking was the solution . The settlement provides shops and food plus plenty of Quokkas scurrying for food. It reminded us of a Center Parcs Village with huts around it to stay in ( not as nice though ) and this central area for all your needs. We were probably expecting too much from the snorkelling experience having been to the Great Barrier Reef, Maldives and Egypt but we enjoyed the day out .

Great Transport, Efficient polite+++. Make the bike snorkel combination better!
This was organised and pleasant regarding transport. Timely friendly no uglys. We overnighted on Rottnest island out and back with a just right fel to the Ferry abd bike service. The gripe we hve is that they combine bikes and snorkelling equipment with a $100 dollar bond. But the bike spring holders drop the good snorkelling gear, leading to distressing back tracks. We tried using our overnight back packs, but they are too small. My daughter and I loved the bike snorkel rest circle on Rottnest. First gear is too high even for fit people, on Rottnest hills. A basket, or fixing the holding springs and a Phone/GPS holder would help, not looking for fallen snorkel gear. This is handyman level stuff. For those overnighting on the island a great place. Wanting to to cycle snorkle resort. Fix up the bikes to hold the snorkelling gear and navigate. Consider bike up grades such as more gears for the fit or e bike for less fit or older. The service is nice effective friendly and timely. Make the bike snorkel combo work.

        Mini holiday
We had discount vouchers from RAC and left it very late to book in. I emailed the company the night before and they responded first thing in the morning and completed booking in time for us to get the ferry. The ferry trip was excellent, comfortable and on time, having the late return at 6.45 gave us extra time to enjoy the island and not rush back .

        Great, but....
This day trip cost around £45 each ($90ish) and we left the Hillarys around 10.00am. The Fast Ferry was busy as it was holiday time, but quick at about 40 minutes. The Island itself has some stunning bays, we set off walking around the northern shore from the Settlement. However, being a still, sunny day the flies were really annoying and extremely persistent, making it quite unpleasant. Fortunately the breeze got up and the problem was much less later in the day, but had it not the day would have been a bit miserable as the insects were constant. We thought about getting the bus South when back at the Settlement around lunchtime, however we didn't realise that the bus only went one way around the Island (anticlockwise) meaning we would run out of time, which was disappointing. However, talking to the Rangers it appeared that they have a series of free 'tours' that they run during the day including a walking 'Quokka tour' which took around 45 minutes around the Settlement and was really informative. It also pointed our popular viewpoints and photo opportunities that we took advantage of. The food and drink in the Settlement was reasonably priced. The dock was extremely busy at 4.30pm with many ferries leaving at exactly the same time (!?). The Fast Ferry we got back was an older one and not as well appointed as the first crossing, but the crossing time was still the same. A reasonable value day out but if you add in the almost necessary bus ticket or bike hire, it could be quite expensive for a family.

        Quick, easy and fun
Fun way to spend a beach day and viewing wildlife - the local quokka! If I were to do it again I’d make sure it wasn’t school vacation time. Although the kids around me were the first to spot the quokkas, so it made it easy for me to see them!

Everyone should make the effort to go and see Rottnest island
We had a great trip from the morning ferry from Hillarys to the bay seeker bus tour on Rottnest. The service was outstanding and very helpful. We have been to Rottnest before and we have noticed how much things have grown and a lot more people, new places and activities.

This tour is best seen as providing a days look at the Island. You spend much of your time in the Second World War tunnels and then a bus tour around the island. There’s no time to properly experience the beauty of the place and is best used as a useful reconnaissance to go back another time knowing the best beaches to go to and how to orientate yourself.

For a trip that was to be the highlight of our trip it turned out to be the most memorable for all the wrong reasons.
One disaster after another. That sums up our horrendous day trip with this company.
First, the hotel pick up was late. We had to call to see what was happening to be told the bus was running late (we already figured that one out). No apology.
We get to the jetty late to be given morning tea vouchers five minutes before the ferry left. Can we take takeaway on board? Don’t know!
Onto the ferry, now for our safety instructions, watch our helpful staff demonstrate. We’re still waiting. No safety demonstration instead a Mr Bean movie. Don’t know how that’ll stop me drowning.

We pull into Rottnest jetty, follow the signs to the train. We wait and wait for any directions. Finally get on the train which was overfilled, to be told it can take up to 63 people, so 63 people were very uncomfortably put on the train.

Off we go, waiting for the live commentary which consisted of us being taken to a set of old military tunnels. We were not given clear instruction about what was to happen some people stayed on board others got off. My partner went to the front of the train to ask BOB to clarify what was happening when he POINTED AND SHOUTED AT ME TO GET OFF THE TRAIN. Why? It’s part of the tour. We’re claustrophobic so elected to not to go into the tunnels and were berated by Bob.

Thankfully, the train broke down and a bus was sent up to collect us to take us to the Settlement. Lisa the bus driver kept saying ‘what a day, what a day’. We were dropped off and told lunch will be dropped off and a picnic area pointed at where that was. We then waited for TWO HOURS for the other members of the tour to be dropped back. So what’s happening now? No, the tours not proceeding yet as they have to have lunch. Lunch finally over, the bus wasn’t big enough for all the people on the tour. That entailed another 20 minute wait and what had we seen on the Grand Tour, the bus stop!

Totally frustrated we told Bob we had had enough and not continuing on the tour. We hadn’t even seen a quokka up to then. We started walking away only to have BOB chase us yelling at us.We saw more walking around by ourselves.

Ferry time we lined up to board to be told we didn’t have the right ticket, no, BOB had it. The crew member made us stand aside while he checked on board everybody else despite our protests. No, two seconds to check his iPad was too much.

Back on the ferry NO SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AGAIN. Then an elderly man had a heavy fall and had to be attended to by passengers. When the crew where asked for assistance they got an icepack, not once did they check on the welfare on the old man.

We finally get off the ferry, now which bus is there to take us back to the hotel. We went to a bus that had our hotel listed on it to be told by the driver we weren’t on that bus it was for Rendezvous Scarborough. But it has ‘city’ on it. We went to the other bus and the driver said, no, the other bus.
So back to the first bus and said ‘so this is the right bus afterall’., to be told rudely by the bus driver ‘well it wasn’t too far to walk’. On the drop offs into the city he didn’t HAVE ENOUGH SEATS so THREE passengers HAD TO STAND UNTIL their drop off.
      Clearly an OH&S issue.

When we were approaching our drop off the driver very roughly pulled in to the drop off.

NEVER EVER HAVE WE EXPERIENCED SUCH RUDE, BULLISH BEHAVIOUR OF THE STAFF OF A TOUR COMPANY. Every single step was a disaster. Every single step.

Whatever you do, don’t go with this company, you will regret it.

Hello DarjeelingDot, I am disappointed to have taken so long to respond to your review. It took some time to investigate the issues and concerns you experienced over the day, both getting to and from Rottnest Island plus your experiences with the tour operator running the Grand Island Tour on Rottnest island. I have made several attempt to contact you on the number that was attached to your booking in order to ask further questions as your review does not represent the usual experience of our customers booking and travelling with us. Your review makes some extremely serious claims that cannot be ignored and as such would still like the opportunity to speak to you, could you contact me at feedback@rottnestfastferries.com.au, with a possible alterative phone number? I can perhaps see how your day did not start as anticipated, the courtesy coach that picked you up to take you to the ferry terminal was indeed late, due to picking up passengers from other hotels and unexpected roadworks in the city during peak hour traffic. You did the right thing ringing the office, and the information they gave you was correct. Our Coach tracker shows that your courtesy coach made up time and you arrived at the ferry terminal 1 minute early at 9.14am, 46 minutes before departure. Our Booking System shows that you checked in and where given all of your paperwork, morning tea vouchers, tickets and explanation of what to expect during the day at our ticket office at 9.21am, 39 minutes before departure. Our Boarding System shows that our skipper, who also happened to be one of the owner of the business, scanned your ticket as you boarded our ferry to Rottnest at 9.44am 16 minutes before departure. The Owner and skipper for your morning crossing to Rottnest Island has confirmed that he did play the Safety Video. As mentioned the tour on the Island is run by a third party, and I would like to talk through that with you as have some questions after speaking to their operations manager. Our skipper followed correct procedures when he asked you to step to the side so to board the customers in line before searching his system for your missing ticket. You were given separate tickets for the Island Tour, I’m not sure if you ended up finding them in your belongings on your return to your hotel. Your comments about the elderly man not receiving help from our crew is incorrect, the customer that assisted him that you are referring to, was one of our workers on the island. Our crew did indeed check on the gentleman and he thanked them for their assistance when departing our ferry. DarjeelingDot, we are disappointed that your experience did not meet your expectations, as mentioned above I would like to discuss your complaints with you. Regards Phil Richards- Director of Sales and Marketing

Great service - we booked the bus on Rottnest and the pick-up/return via them. Their ship is very modern and moves along. One warning - it does go into the ocean - if you are slightly of the "nauseous persuasion" when on a boat - travel downstairs in the rear - middle preferably. The ship was extremely clean and staff were excellent. Comfortable seats and good room.

Food and drink onboard and toilets. I saw people bringing bikes etc. People staying on the Island also had luggage which was stored by the crew.

A lovely marina so you might want to have a look about and a coffee. It seems a more efficient set-up than via Fremantle - but both would be fun.

I confess, we thought we had only booked the bus tour, but were on the train and military tunnels tour also. The bus tour showed plenty of nice places, but there was no time to stop and take photos. Rottnest as a whole is misleading in regard to Quokkas. We had been told you would see them everywhere, but it turns out, they are nocturnal. If we had just stuck to the bus tour, we could have spent more time with those that were about (our main reason for going), but we were left with very little time to see them and enjoy them. If it is the wildlife you are after, stick to the bus tour only. The ferry was fantastic and the tour guides were excellent - you couldn’t fault them.

Dear vannsandra, Thank you for your feedback on your visit to Rottnest Island last week. I'm sorry you felt rushed during your visit, perhaps the Island Explorer would have been a better option as this tour gives customers the opportunity to hop off at a stop and hop back on the next bus. We are disappointed that you didn't have the opportunity to interact with the Islands beautiful Quokkas, whist they are nocturnal, during the day is when most people capture their Quokka Selfie! Usually the main Settlement is where you will see them up and about around the clock. I glad you found our Ferry experience and the caliber of the guides excellent. Thanks again for the feedback Best Wishes Phil Richards- Director of Sales and Marketing

As the weather was 35 degrees on the day we travelled I was so pleased we had booked a full day tour, passing many tired and sunburnt bike riders I knew we had made the right choice as you would not see all the Island on a bike unless super fit. Our trip included a train ride, lunch and afternoon coach tour, all with great guides and with opportunities to stop and take pictures and see the Quokka of course, would definitely recommend this way to see as much of the Island as possible, easy to book and use your tickets well organised.

No attempt was made to advise that the train was not operational. Not at booking or anytime prior including when picking up tickets prior to boarding. Found out when we walked to train stop and found a locked bus with a small sign saying the bus was in place of train. Also the Lunch turned out to be a chicken wrap and a dry biscuit with a bottle of warm water on a 40 degree Celsius day. Surely its not too hard to have a cool box for the water. The sightseeing commentary was mostly boring by a disinterested driver. The driver had no idea how to quietly resolve a dietary issue which became embarrasing to the person involved because he made a loud big deal of it. The person advised their needs at booking weeks before. The person's husband had to purchase a protein alternative. The guide should have done this. Took away from the day's enjoyment. Guide said he would make a quokka stop "if time". Stopped for one minute but we couldn't get out for a decent photo. Only chance for us to see a quokka was for five minutes AFTER the tour finished before going to the return ferry. We paid for the most expensive experience which failed to deliver.

Dear keentraveler1304, Thanks for taking the time to review the Grand Island Tour which is operated by a 3rd Party company on the Island. I will pass on you comments to this company to review and investigate. We rarely receive negative comments on this tour, so are disappointed that you did not enjoy your experience. Unfortunately the rail on the train tour has needed to be repaired at short notice, this is government owned. A replacement bus had been put on this part of the tour to enable customers to get up to Oliver Hill. We are sorry this was not communicated to your, this information is detailed and highlighted in our brochure. Kind Regards Phil Richards- Director of Sales and Marketing

This day tour is a definate "Must Do" if you go to Rottnest Island. The scenery is absolutely stunning and our guide was very conversed on the islands history.
Overall, it was a very enlightning experience but we felt that the visit to the WW11 gun and the tunnels was to long winded as a number of people with disabilities, were unable to negotiate the numerous stairs and tightness of the tunnels, and had to wait ages for their group to return. There is no mention of the number of stairs in the brochure, and no cheaper price for not doing the tunnels.
Also, no one was informed that the train to the tunnels was out of action due to work being done to the sleepers.
There was no price reduction for this change in the Itinerary, where a bus was substituted. We originally booked this Tour because it included the train.
Another problem is the lack of signs to the different bus/train stations. There are none which left a lot of people very frustrated and confused. There are coloured, painted arrows on the road for the bus trip pick ups but no signs to say which Tour they are for,as each trip has a different pick up area. Very confusing..

Dear Kaye O Thank you for taking the time to review your day on the Island. We are pleased that you enjoyed your day, with the exception of the Tunnel part of the Tour. Rottnest Fast Ferries brochure states the fact that there are stairs to navigate in the Tunnel Tour, and distribute this information to 3rd parties to advise their customers. I'm sorry if this information wasn't made available to you. We will redistribute this to our agents to ensure they are all aware. Kind Regards Phil Richards- Director of Sales and Marketing
