- 608reginal0 contributionsPort Issac Doc Martin TourWe spent a wonderful 90 minutes with Mike who had been an extra on Doc Martin for all 9 seasons. He was a pleasure, informative not only about the show, the set, the actors and behind the scenes skuttlebut, but knowledgeable about the history of Port Issac too. We were American doing an 800 mile trip through the Southwest and Cornwall and this, along with our two night stay at the Schoolhouse, was a highlight of the trip……highly recommended…and ask for Mike!Written 8 November 2021
- Steve-and-Andie0 contributionsTourists everywhereYou can't come to Cornwall and not visit Portwenn/ Port Isaac especially if you are a Doc Martin fan. There are only 2 car parks and they fill up very quickly so I suggest you visit early in the day or leave it till much later. We arrived just before lunchtime and were very lucky to get a spot in the main car park. The walk down to the harbour is a bit of a trek. The fishing village is lovely with quaint little cottages most of which though are holiday lets. The main locations in the TV series are easy to spot and are only a stones throw away from each other. A delight to visit, just a shame it is so busy.Written 30 July 2021
- Lisa-twenty130 contributionsDoc Martin tourA great hour spent with guide who was very knowledgable and quite comical. Was not happy that tickets cost £10 each if you bought them on day and £15 if you purchased online- which is what I did!Written 23 August 2020

We could not have asked for a better walking tour of Doc Martin / Port Issac.
We were met on time by our guide Dave Morgan, who has been acting on several of the episodes of Doc Martin and lives in the village harbour area. There were only 2 of us on the tour, which meant we had an intermit experience. The walk was easy, with pauses on some of the hills! and lasted about 90 mins.
Obviously, David's local knowledge was outstanding as he brought to life every aspect of the surrounding area, describing scenes and places in wonderful detail.
We cant recommend this tour more highly

Nice way to see Port Isaac. Tour guide Dave was very friendly and relaxed. Had some good anecdotes and showed us some parts of the town that we would never have seen without him. Only disappointing thing was paying £16.50 to book online when you can just turn up and pay £12.50. Don’t waste your money on booking online. There were only 12 in our group

Dave, our guide, had been in several episodes, and provided an insightful commentary as we walked through the town. Dave had delightful anecdotes about the cast and crew of the Doc Martin series. We learned that about two dozen people live in the village because the majority of the homes are summer or rental properties. Ate lunch at the "Port Wenn" School house. Parking is an issue, so expect to walk. There is a car park at the top of the hill, but it is small. The large parking area is at least a mile away. That was the biggest draw back.

Tour guide was very enthusiastic and keen to give his group a great experience. Very knowledgeable. Friendly and happy to answer all questions.
However group was very large so sometimes difficult to hear.
We also paid £16.50 online appossed to £12.50 on the day so feel ripped off!

I booked the tour in advance & paid £16, but noticed the price on the sign outside the meeting place as £12.50. I liked the descriptions of the houses & which actors used the specific houses. The tour guide was friendly but spoke in such a low voice that it was hard to hear what he was saying & turned his head frequently talking to other tour members that I couldn't hear what was being said. So in this regard, I think the tour was average.

We took the Doc Martin walking tour of Port Isaac in August 2024 and had a fantastic experience. Our tour guide, Mike, was both entertaining and informative, providing a perfect balance of humor and knowledge. We visited many of the iconic locations used over the 20 years of filming the series and were treated to fascinating behind-the-scenes stories from Mike, who worked as a supporting artist on the show.
In addition to the TV series context, the tour offered a wealth of information about the history and general knowledge of Port Isaac and the surrounding area. Mike led us through small alleys and hidden parts of Port Isaac that most visitors miss, making the experience even more unique.
It was a great morning, and we highly recommend this tour. Thanks, Mike!

Okay, brutally honest. The dour tour guide, a recurring extra on the TV series, was utterly unengaging and tone-deaf concerning all but the barest minimums of information. Case in point: to the best of my recollection, when group was standing in front of Martin Cottage, he failed to explain that interior scenes were actually filmed in a separate stage set. Really?! At the conclusion of tour, no one (including myself) chose to clap or rush forward with a tip. You might consider dumping this deadweight.

Great tour by our guide Mike - very friendly and informative with lots of insider stories about Doc Martin trivia. We arrived early and was able to change to the earlier tour at 11 instead of 1 pm which was no problem.
We had paid £16.50 each online for our tickets but when we got there it was £12.50. I suppose you run the risk of it being full but we didn’t expect it to be cheaper if you didn’t book beforehand.
There was quite a lot of walking and the weather was boiling so quite hard work but well worth taking the tour as you get to see and know a lot more.
The walk back up to the main car park was a hard slog as quite steep. There is a taxi available for £3.50 per person for people who have difficulty but we didn’t use that.

My wife has followed this series from the first episode like many others.
I recently decided to travel to Cornwall from South Wales in order for her to visit Port Isaac to take in the views last week.
Luckily for me through some research I had carried out prior to travelling to Cornwall I heard about the wonderful Mike Meakins who carries out guided tours in Port Isaac of the various important location points of the show along with local history of the village over the centuries.
Mike is incredibly informative and pleasant in his presentation which includes photographs of the village from years gone by along with photos from the Doc Martin series.. He has intimate knowledge as he is also an "extra" in the show.
The tour lasted just over an hour and is certainly worth the price if you are a fan of the show..
You could just walk around the village but Mike will take you to places that tourists would not even know about including a very narrow alleyway with a history all of its own.
My wife and I will always remember the wonderful hour we spent with Mike and the information he provided was first class.
If you are ever in Port Isaac and enjoy Doc Martin I would highly recommend booking a tour with Mike Meakins...

If you're a Doc Martin fan, please don't visit Port Isaac without doing this tour! Our tour guide was Mike Meakins who is full of fascinating information and anecdotes about the making and filming of the show, the buildings used, the actors and the film crew. The tour also includes really interesting infornation about the "real" village of Port Isaac - a reminder that this beautiful place isn't all about Doc Martin! Mike is knowledgeable, affable, and happy to answer all your questions, whether they be about the making of Doc Martin or about the village. I think it would be such a shame to wander around without having this insight into both the show and the area.
To book a tour, just call the "May Contain Nuts" cafe a couple of days before arrival and they will ensure you get a place on the date and time of your preference. At just £12.50 per person (payable on the day) this was some of the best money we spent on our lovely Cornwall break. If you're reading this review because you're contemplating the tour, don't even hesitate! Excellent value for money and thoroughly enjoyable.

Hi This tour was canceled but you still charged me for the tour fee of £33.00 .Could I please have a refund thank you Jeffrey Whitehouse

Hi can I doo the tour on a mobility scooter please thanks Jeffrey
Written 31 December 2022
Our experience is that there was a very thin walkway half way through the tour. From memory I would suggest a mobility scooter would not pass through it.
But the tour guide was very friendly. soI suggest contacting them direct to discuss.

I would like to reserve a tour & pay 2 days beforehand but when I try to do this it says I have to pay now & is nonrefundable seems like false advertising to me
Written 29 August 2022
This is absolutely fine.
I pre booked my tour for 4 people and it was confirmed with an e- mail with my payment method and i done this through tripadvisor.
It is correct when it says it's non refundable.

I will be staying in Kingsbridge how far away is this attraction and is there local transport?
Written 14 May 2022
I am not sure how far Kingsbridge is from Port Issac. There is no local transport.

Hi are you able to do any of the tour using a mobility scooter?
Written 6 June 2021
You can do a good bit of it but you won't be able to go up steps near Dr. Ruth's house. I used a cane during the tour and got around pretty well.
Written 16 May 2022
Hi, what time of day does the tour start? Thinking of 1st June
Written 30 May 2021
I arranged the tour on line. At the time we were there, tours were at 11 am and 1 p.m. But I would check if there are more during the summer. Worth doing. The guide, Mike, is wonderful.

Can you walk the tour with dogs?
Written 18 October 2020
Yes, there were people with dogs. Since it is all outside, should be no problem.
Written 16 May 2022
There is a car park at the top of the hill or you can park on the street if you can find a spot. There are no pick ups. We all met at the "Nuts" cafe.
