Churchill War Rooms Entrance Ticket

Overview

Visit the Churchill War Rooms, part of London’s Imperial War Museum and learn about the life and legacy of Sir Winston Churchill. Leading Britain to victory in World War II, the former prime minister made use of a wartime bunker beneath the streets of Westminster. Use your entrance ticket to explore the historic rooms at your leisure, and visit the on-site Churchill Museum where multimedia exhibits bring the story of the great leader to life.

What to Expect

Make your own way to the Churchill War Rooms in Westminster and show your voucher to enter. The site is open between 9:30am and 6pm, with last admissions at 5pm.

Once inside, you’ll enter the world of Winston Churchill, the British statesman and prime minister who led Britain through WWII. His wartime bunker is now a piece of living history, home to a subterranean network of rooms where wartime strategies were formed and secrets were discussed.

Explore the historic war rooms at your leisure, and use an audio guide to learn about the key points of interest. The site is also home to the Churchill Museum, which uses modern technology and multimedia exhibits to tell the premier’s story from the day he was made prime minister in 1940.

Known as an inspirational orator, Churchill made powerful speeches during the war and you’ll hear some extracts with iconic phrases such as “we shall fight them on the beaches.” Another highlight of the museum is the original 10 Downing Street door that Churchill walked through after he became prime minister.

How long you spend in the museum is up to you, but most visitors find 1.5 hours to be sufficient.

Great, but don't buy tickets through travelocity unless you can print.

Churchill War rooms was an awesome experience, but a heads up to many travelers like me, you have to print out these tickets and present them at the entrance. I didn't have access to a printer so this was a big issue. If you do,...More

Took forever to get in

We had a London pass and those who had prepaid went in first. I would say that while the pass appears to represent good value the truth is that you spend so much time in the queue that you can only see a few exhibits...More

Second visit - always a highlight

We visited on a Saturday afternoon so had to wait in line for @ 30 minutes. Despite the number of people inside, it flowed fairly well. They did a good job controlling the number of people inside. This is always a sobering and inspirational reminder...More

My husband had visited this exhibit about 10 years ago and remembered it as being really interesting. We added this to our London agenda and bought tickets in advance (helpful tip, there is often a line, but you don't have to wait in line if...More

So much interesting stuff in there, you won't even think about claustrophobia. Plenty of space to move around.

Agree with Jim. But get there early, or maybe the afternoon before. Lines in the morning can be horrendous. If you're staying in a hotel there, see whether the concierge can retrieve and print your tickets.
