Leave York and travel into the north Yorkshire countryside to the pretty market town of Helmsley. Stretch your legs on a walk through the center, then continue high into the hills, past the limestone village of Hutton-le-Hole. You’ll then arrive in the North York Moors National Park for a stroll across its heather-filled moorland, learning about Yorkshire’s mining and farming heritage.
Venture onward to coastal Whitby where you’ll have free time to explore the harbor, or perhaps treat yourself to an English seaside classic of fish and chips.
Later, you’ll travel to Goathland, aka Aidensfield in the UK Heartbeat series, to see filming locations aplenty. Harry Potter fans are also in for a treat, as you’ll visit the railway site that doubled as Hogsmeade Station in the films.
Finish on a high note, traveling via steam train across the moors to Pickering. From here, it’s back on the coach to York.
