Palace re opens from May 17th. Enjoy a guided tour of one of England's most famous palaces & gardens but also home to the Churchill family and Duke of Marlborough. However, it is open today for all to enjoy its sumptuous interior and its expansive gardens, lake house and maze. Palace entry ticket worth £28.50 per person is included in your tour price. Guided tour duration is 90 minutes+. Upon arrival at Blenheim palace, your guide will take you on a guided tour lasting approximately 90 minutes. Exclusions
  • Food and drinks

  • We offer you a guided tour of the palace state rooms. The tour does not include a tour of the gardens and the estate grounds as the estate is very extensive and you can explore the gardens and grounds at leisure after the tour in your own free time.
  • If you opt to return after activity by taxi to Oxford, then that is not included (a taxi may cost anything from £30-45 single journey) but this can be arranged for you, if you request it.

1h 30m
Departure details
  • 15-16 Broad St, Oxford OX1 3AS, UK Meet your guide wearing red lanyard OUTSIDE the currently empty shop premises at 15 Broad street. This is located next to the Oxfam shop, 17 Broad street, OX1 3AS
  • Blenheim Palace, Woodstock OX20 1PP, UK The guide will give you return bus ticket for the public bus and directions at end of your tour. The public bus runs back into Oxford at least every half hour until 23.00.
Additional information
  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Blenheim palace is located just next to Woodstock village, so we recommend you visit both locations in your free time after the guided tour.
  • PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME AT THE AGREED MEETING POINT:
  • Please arrive 5 minutes early for your tour at our meeting point. If you arrive more than 5 minutes later than the scheduled tour, then you might forfeit and lose your booking as if your arriving late, as this may interrupt the guide and other customers, if we are trying to find you after a guide has started and left the meeting point.
  • WE OFFER YOU THE OPTION TO EITHER MEET US AT 10.30am or at 12.30 in OXFORD TO CATCH THE PUBLIC BUS WITH US TO THE PALACE OR TO MEET US AT 2PM AT THE PALACE, LOCATED ABOUT HALF HOUR DRIVE AWAY FROM OXFORD CITY.
  • INFO FOR DRIVERS AND PARKING:
  • If you are driving, then please allow extra 30-60 minutes over whatever time you think it will take you to get here. Oxford is NOT car friendly and it is congested roads and hard to find parking spaces....unless you park at the sign posted 'park and rides' on edge of town on any major road into the city and hop on their buses into city centre. The park and ride buses leave every 15 or every 30 minutes and take anything from 10 min to 30 min (depending on traffic) to reach city centre. So if you are going to drive, then please assume you should be aiming to park your car about one hour before your tour starts.
  • PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
  • We actually recommend instead using the much faster and reliable train services but again please aim to arrive about an hour or earlier before your tour starts as trains can be delayed and the train and coach station are about 15 minutes walk from our meeting point. There is also the coach service from London called the Oxford Tube which leaves every half hour or more but it can take much longer than its advertised 105 minute journey time. It drops you off either at High street Oxford or Gloucester Green coach station. It's quicker to ask to get off on High street near Carfax tower, then it's a 10 minutes walk to Broad street.
  • Stroller accessible
  • Near public transportation
  • Transportation is wheelchair accessible
  • Most travellers can participate
  • This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate

Visit to the birth place of Winston Churchill
Sep 2019 • Couples
I was sceptical initially about visiting another palace or castle in Britain.

However, after the visit to Blenheim Palace I have second thoughts now. My wife and I both have Peter our guide to thank. He was not only most knowledgeable of the tour but he went way beyond the norm by making our trip most meaningful and memorable one although this is already the 4th palace/castle we have visited in UK since our arrival in September.

Peter was well prepared for the tour and made it simple and most interesting. He even carried an umbrella in the event it rain which it did at the end of the tour. On top of that at the end of the visit, Peter also kindly arranged tea for us and some English goodies to sample in the form of chocolate caramel shortcake and also oatmeal and raisin biscuits at the garden terrace of Bleiheim Palace. It allowed us to truly appreciate the magnificient view of this ?estate.

At the end of the paid tour Peter in his own time gave us a quick introduction and run around Oxford so that it will be easier for us when we do our cycle and walking tour of Oxford the next day.

Tqvm, Peter you had made a real difference!! Cheers

It was a pleasure to have Peter as our guide. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the Churchills and all things British made our visit an afternoon my husband and I will never forget. He politely answered all our questions. At the end of the tour, we sat down and he served us tea and cookies while we had a most interesting discussion on British writers, movies, and other tours we might be interested in taking in the future.

Blenheim Palace for 4 with great guide
Jun 2019 • Couples
We took the tour out to Blenheim Palace from Oxford. As a group of 4 we got a very personal tour. There were several events going on that limited our access, but our tour guide navigated the difficulties (loud sound checks for an evening concert and closed areas) with professionalism and persistence. We highly recommend and would use again.

Fabulous tour of Blenheim Palace
Jun 2019 • Couples
We spent a wonderful afternoon with Michel at Blenheim Palace. His knowledge of the history and personalities of the people who shaped the palace brought the palace to life. And his knowledge of art and film provided entertaining anecdotes which kept us fully engaged for the entire tour. This was the best tour of a palace that we have experienced in England. We highly recommend Michel and the entire professional team at Visit Oxford.

Hi Anthony, Thanks for sharing your super recommendation of your Blenheim palace guided tour with us. The guides on this tour are mostly local artists as well as being guides, so they can bring a depth of knowledge to the art displayed as well as the history of the palace and the Churchill family.

Most Outstanding personal Tour
May 2018 • Solo
I have been booking online walking tours and day trip through Viator which has been amazingly convenient. I have booked quite a few and completed a few as well. I would recommend you to use this app for convenience.

Now to this guided tour I took to Blenheim Palace through Viator Supplier visit Oxford tours. On the onset I would say it was just outstanding and the best tour I have taken ( I have taken quite a few). I has a tour guide Tom Milner-Gulland, who impressed me with his knowledge of the history and the various stories around the Palace. It was such a pleasure learning so much about the Palace..the most exquisite tapestry which is on display and the walk in the vast gardens. The place and the stories enchants you so much that time just seem to fly. I was blessed to do a tour on a lovely sunny summer day. I would highly recommend this tour and the whole one-to-one experience of learning the history and listening to the stories.

Hi Puja, Thanks so much for taking the time to recommend your Blenheim palace guided tour experience with us and with Tom as your guide. We really appreciate getting reviews on here. As you mentioned, our palace tours are very small groups- just yourself in this instance and that's why our prices are set accordingly, as to date, all our palace tours have been single bookings from one person or one group ie private tours in all but name. Thanks!
