West Highland Lochs and Castles Small Group Day Trip from Edinburgh

Beat the crowds and opt for an alternative sightseeing experience of the Scottish Highlands on a hassle-free day trip from Edinburgh. A great choice for history buffs, this excursion transports you to four medieval castles, three lochs, and the rugged Breadalbane Mountains. Receive personalized attention in a group limited to 16, and leave the tour with a discount card for select Edinburgh shops, restaurants, and attractions.

What to Expect

Your tour begins with pickup from a central Edinburgh departure point. Board an air-conditioned coach destined for Scotland’s West Highlands. Stop first at Stirling Castle, the former residence of Mary Queen of Scots, to take photos of the exterior before visiting Doune Castle, the film site of Monty Python and The Holy Grail.

As your coach traverses dense forests and rolling hills, your guide provides commentary that details Scottish legends such as William Wallace and Rob Roy MacGregor, the Scottish equivalent of Robin Hood.

After a break for lunch (own expense), stop at the tranquil Loch Awe and the ruins of Kilchurn Castle. See Inveraray Castle on the shores of Lake Fyne, and Loch Lomond, one of the largest lakes in Scotland.

This guided tour concludes with drop-off at your original Edinburgh departure point.
