About
As darkness falls, and the witching hour creeps ever closer, join us for a spine tingling, late night, 80 minute walking tour of Edinburgh’s Old Town and underground. The often brutal past of Scotland’s capital creates a wholly unique, grand but somewhat unsettling atmosphere which lends itself to evening ghost tours. Let one of our costumed guides, playing an infamous, historical character, lead you through the Old Town’s winding closes, show you the notoriously haunted Greyfriars Kirkyard and reveal one of Edinburgh’s darkest secrets – the underground vaults that snake beneath the city. Hear gory, but always entertaining and revealing, tales of ghosts, torture, executions, murder, cannibalism and witchcraft. The scares on this tour do not depend on jump scares or cheap tricks but good storytelling.

What to expect
  • Greet your guide, dressed in period costume, at a central Edinburgh location in the dead of night. Immediately, your master storyteller will launch into spine-tingling tales of Edinburgh’s dark and desultory past. Follow your guide through shadow-shrouded wynds (narrow streets between houses) on your way to a graveyard famous for numerous ghost sightings. Weave your way between headstones and hear terrifying tales of the restless souls that reside here. Next, descend to the underground vaults that reside beneath the city; in dimmed light, you’ll step tentatively through narrow passageways while listening to tales of torture, murder, witchery, cannibalism, and body snatching. After 1.5 hours of frights, ascend from the vaults and bid your guide farewell.

Oct 2021 • Friends
Myself and a friend did the 9:15 tour for added spookiness and it did not disappoint! Our guide, the Hangman, spoke with such presence and humour that it was thoroughly enjoyable. And for the skeptics out there, this tour definitely has a bit of fear factor! When in a particular room in the underground section of the tour (I won’t say which one so I don’t spoil it) I felt a tickling on my neck, at both sides, and my necklace, which is very lightweight, pressed on my chest with a pressure it’s never had before. The tales are gruesome, macabre and incredibly well told

Spooky Fun Information
Oct 2021
I get scared easily but this was a perfect compromise of doing something spooky while feeling safe. Our guide, Jessie King, was super entertaining and really kept the group intrigued. The locations were all well thought out and the stories were bone chilling. I never felt like they tried too hard to scare the group as well which was refreshing.

Edinburgh's spooky tales
Oct 2021
Our tour guide was the hangman, the tour was entertaining and the hangman was very good at doing his thing, what we were not told that during the underground parts of the tour you were ushered into very small tight spaces, whether that was in
old rooms or underground tunnels so if you are claustrophobic at all this will be an issue. with regard to the tight spaces and small rooms obviously there is no room to social distance from the rest of the group again caused a bit of anxiety. Quite an interesting tour with a bit of theatrical antics thrown in.

Excellent guided tour around some of Edinburghs haunted locations. We had the Hangman as our guide, he was an excellent story teller and interacted with the group really well. Definately worth while doing.

John Knox The Best
our tour guide was John Knox. he was very funny, and it was a good tour. value for money as supposed to be a 75 minute tour. it turned out to be 2hrs 15!! Best part was the underground
vault, and the fact that there are a couple of flats down there that actually have tenants - I thought he was joking, but it is quite true.

Great Tou!

Our guide, Alexander, was absolutely phenomenal. Personable, a great story-teller, informative, and entertaining, Alexander absolutely "killed" the tour! With interesting stories, and a beautiful (and spooky) walk through some of the most beautiful parts of the Royal Mile this tour was amazing!
