Spend a half-day with a knowledgeable guide on an Alsace wine tour along the scenic Alsace Wine Route. During this half-day tour from Strasbourg, visit two charming towns for two wine tastings. Sample some of the region’s notable wines, including gewürztraminer and Riesling, as you learn about how the wines are produced. Select either a morning or afternoon tour, whichever suits your itinerary, and enjoy a more personalized experience with a small tour group limited to eight people.
What to Expect
Begin your morning or afternoon Alsace wine tour in Strasbourg, where you’ll meet your guide and climb into an awaiting 8-passenger minivan. Travel along a gorgeous road known locally as the Route des Vins d’Alsace, or the Alsace Wine Route. Follow this 105-mile (170 km) route as it winds through rolling hills near the Vosges Mountains through land that contains hundreds of famous Alsatian wineries.

The first stop on your tour is in the town of Obernai, with its characteristic German-style half-timbered buildings and pretty cobblestoned streets. Join your guide for a walking tour of the town, ending at a local winery to sample some of the region’s wine.

Find out how the soil, climate, and sun combine to create the perfect conditions under which the Alsace region produces world-renowned white wines. Taste most of the seven grape varietals that are grown in the area, including gewürztraminer and Riesling, noting how complex and different the flavors can be.

Get back on the Alsace Wine Route to end up at your next stop, a wine tasting in a classic Alsatian wine cellar (caveau). Find out why cellars such as this provide the ideal environment for the aging and storing of wine.

After the visit to the wine cellar, enjoy the scenery out of the minivan windows as you make your way back to Strasbourg.

A failure of operations, the tour guide was nice but very green.

To clarify the tour guide was kind, caring and considerate - she did everything she could with the obviously limited amount of training your company provided her. But she made a view mistakes due to her being very new and this showed throughout the tour...More
