Highlights
  • Travel with prebooked tickets and a local guide for a relaxing train journey
  • Decide how you want to see Neuschwanstein Castle on the day of the trip
  • Get the lowdown on the Bavarian castle region and King Ludwig from your guide
  • Visit Marienbrücke, one of the best vantage points for photos of the castle
What to Expect
Head to Munich’s central station to meet your guide and board your train to Hohenschwangau, the pretty Bavarian village near Neuschwanstein Castle. On the journey, hear stories about the castles of Bavaria, mad King Ludwig, and the swan knight Lohengrin, a legend linked to the region. When you arrive in Hohenschwangau, head to nearby Marienbrücke for impressive views of the fortress that provided inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle. Opt to visit Neuschwanstein itself and marvel at its ornate interiors on a tour, or hike in the neighboring foothills, soaking up sweeping castle vistas as you go. Note that entrance fees are payable at your own expense. After the tour or hike, return to Munich by train with your guide.

Properly composed and moderately intense excursion. A great option if the whole day of your trip is planned for a cultural program. Moving between cities by bus takes up to 5 hours in total, so you need to stock up on everything necessary in advance on the road. The guide

I am not the type of person who enjoys typically enjoys "touristy" things. I am also not the kind of person who writes reviews online typically. This tour blew me out of the water, and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who visits Munich. It never felt too touristy, and it

Response from SNE_Violeta, Guest Relations Manager at Neuschwanstein Castle Day Trip from Munich with Guide and Bus/Train Ticket
Responded 19 Feb 2020
Hi 77nancyx, Thank you for sharing your experience with us and for joining the tour in Munich. We love to hear back from engaged travellers such as yourself, as your feedback helps us to continue making improvements and ensure that tours and experiences promoted by SANDEMANs NEW Europe meet the high standards that travellers expect of us. We are concerned to learn that the tour guide was not to your liking and that you found him inappropriate. Each guide we work with has their own style and personality, which we encourage them to express on their tours; it’s what keeps tours promoted by SANDEMANs unique and interesting across our network. All the guides are very passionate and enthusiastic individuals but, unfortunately, their personal tour style does not always match all the guests’ tastes. It is regrettable to hear that in this instance you felt that the guide’s style was not up to your standards. We are also very sorry to hear that your expectations were not met on this occasion. Whilst the tour’s route and content are listed on our website, the independent guides we work with may alter the tour in order to suit their own style and each group’s dynamic. We feel this adds a personal touch that makes tours promoted by SANDEMANs fresh and unforgettable, but it may also mean that the tour’s stories and sites are not in line with every guests’ preferences which, unfortunately, can be a difficult situation to avoid. While on the whole, the vast majority of guests are extremely satisfied, we do state on our promotional material that all the tours do differentiate from one another due to the individual nature of the guides we work with. Thank you once again for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We hope this experience will not prevent you from joining us again in the future. All the best, The SANDEMANs Team
