We had the absolutely best experience with John Tinto. We were blessed to have John as our guide on back-to-back day tours of the Colleseum and the Roman Forum, and then the Vatican and St. Peter's Square and Basilica.
John's delivery of details [to our specific desired level] was masterful. No matter what religious denomination, John was able to bring history to life and had a wealth of information to share. He made the tours more than enjoyable!

We can’t say enough great things about this day! It was awesome to be at the Vatican and then walk into St. Peter’s Square. Our guide was John Tinto. We felt so lucky to spend the day with him hearing stories and learning so many things. He’s extremely knowledgeable and passionate. This was a long tour but never felt like it. We were a tour of just four. The couple with us had been on our other tour the day before. That was a nice surprise. Another highly recommended tour!

We benefitted from our guides knowledge and direction in this very crowded museum. She was knowledgeable and adept at moving us around the crowds. As a comfort, she even knew when to recommend bathroom breaks!

Ciao Experience751847, It's always great to hear that clients enjoy their time with us. Taking a tour with one of our certified guides is an guaranteed experience that will allow you to take home a deeper appreciation for what sites are being visited. Our guides have toured the walls of places like the Vatican and Colosseum over a hundred of times and still carries enthusiasm on each tour and picked up a thing or two about organising the right time for bathroom breaks :) Thank you for your review, and we can't wait to have you join us again ! -Gina

I will start by saying skip the line was a big deal in this tour where sooooo many people are being pushed through a small space...Our guide Guia was very knowledgeable and very good at what she does, it just was not what I had imagined! To all you art lovers this is a tour for you, to those of u curious about historic places, go to St Peters Bascillica and the Sistine Chapel and skip Vatican museum as after 2 hours of art it kind of ruined us for the Sistine Chapel...The Bascillica was our favorite part of the whole tour, a 5 hour tour that let us break for a 45min lunch which u needed after the hustle and bustle of the Vatican Museum! Tour operator was great, just not my ideal tour!

Dear nygryph, Thanks so much for your review. I am pleased that you enjoyed Guia as a tour guide and that you do state that my tour company provided for you what we promised which was an excellent thorough tour of the Vatican City. I do understand how seeing a lot of art can be overwhelming and tiring at times and that is why we incorporate a break during the tour. I am curious though as to why you chose a 5 hour tour if art really isn't your thing? Aside from that I do thank you for saying, "Tour operator was great". Trip Advisor can be a challenging thing. It is a venue where people are asked to give their honest feedback. You state that we did a good job but I think that your 3 star review is due to the fact that you did not like the Vatican Museums itself for the amount of art inside and the crowds. So, in my opinion, you are trying to balance both in the review hence the 3 stars. The unfortunate thing is that the 3 stars greatly affects our ranking on Trip Advisor which is very important for us but not so much for the Vatican Museums. I am all in support of honest reviews because they do help our business but if I may suggest to our readers of this page to make sure to distinguish when you are reviewing the company and the site itself. There are actually also pages to review the moments of Rome on Trip Advisor. -Rob

Robert Huber invested all his knowledge and art history background in this 5-hour tour. I've been through the Vatican museums several times, but never saw or understood as much. I particularly liked the attention paid to the Greek and Roman collections, and the fact that he actually accompanied us into the Sistine Chapel, after a very thorough briefing of what to look for. His attention to St. Peter's was equally careful, giving me for the first time a better appreciation of the structure's design, and its Bernini statutes.

Hello Matisse390 ! Love your name I'm a fan of Expressionism/Post-Impressionism artists myself :) I would like to start by saying your sentiments are mutual ! I, like you, having already been to the Vatican, experienced a visit with Robert Huber, and took home a deeper appreciation for the artworks housed there then I did during my previous visit. Even as an employee of the company, I still get blown away every time I get the opportunity to join one of our tours with our spectacular team of guides, some who've even been with us from the start, 20 years ago. Each guide carries their own style in bringing the art to life for our visitors. Our guides have walked the walls of places like the Vatican and Colosseum over a hundred of times and still have the enthusiasm to infinite our guests interests each time, that's true passion for the arts ! Thank you for your review, and we can't wait to have you join us again ! - Gina

We had a tour with John Tinto and he was absolutely incredible! It was meant to be a group tour, but we ended up being the only two on the tour—a great experience, would definitely recommend as a group or a private tour.

It was clear that John knew exactly what he was doing and where he was going. He led us through the lines and small crowds with ease, knew when the best times were to stop and break. The best part of this extended tour was that we didn’t feel rushed at all, we were able to enjoy all the highlights of the Sistine Chapel, the Papal Residence, and the Basilica.

John was extremely knowledgeable about the history of all the buildings and art and various artifacts that we passed. He came prepared with photos to show us away from the crowds/other tour groups which made it much easier to hear him.

He also spoke fantastic English (which was great for us, as we don’t speak much Italian) and was incredibly easy to understand. He made the entire experience so enjoyable and informative. Would absolutely recommend and would absolutely do again.

What luck you had to be the only folks on the tour and get our tremendous John all to yourselves, such a treat! You came at a good time when tourism isn't yet quite back up to the usual numbers we are used to - always warms our hearts to hear such wonderful feedback from our guests as it means we are doing our jobs well! John is so happy to be back working as a guide and doing what he loves most after all this time of uncertainty and site closures and he really deserves the amazing review you have left him, we will be sure he sees it and look forward to having you with us again in the very near future. Thanks for choosing Through Eternity and our spectacular Vatican tour! If you want to continue your adventures with us over the winter, check out our Virtual Tours that you can enjoy during the cold months all from the comfort of your own sofa! Pips

My family and I took the VIP tour of the Vatican and were extremely happy with our choice. Our guide, Luca, had an expert command of English and a profound understanding of the subject matter. He was able to elaborate on subtle details of the art we were viewing and explain their influences in vivid detail. He was also able to explain the historical and cultural events surrounding the creation of many works, giving greater context. Further, he knew how to steer our group to avoid the crowds as much as possible. (That being said, it WILL be crowded. It IS the Vatican!) Overall, I was very happy with the choice of Through Eternity for our tour of our the Vatican and would recommend them without hesitation. My only criticism would be to allow a little more time for lunch, since it can take a while to make your way through the lunch line, not leaving much time to eat. However, this did not detract from our enjoyment of the tour. Overall it was money well spent on a wonderful, well organized tour.

Dear Amy A, Thanks for taking our group ViP Vatican tour which is a tour that is close to my heart. No one else in Rome really offers a 5 hour experience going to the Vatican City and with the ability to see that Paint Gallery as well as the Sistine Chapel, it can be an inspiration in one’s life. Getting to see this place with Luca must have been indeed truly amazing. I am so glad that he was able to put everything into a context for you on your journey into the Catholic center of the world. I thank you for your point about taking a longer break during the tour and I will check with Luca about how long it was on that day. I agree that it should be long enough for you to enjoy your food and have a nice conversation about what you have seen with the people that are touring with you. Kind Regards, Rob

We were so grateful to have Art Historian Guia Grandi as our guide. She really helped us navigate the multiple layers of fantastic art and history as we would have been overwhelmed otherwise. We highly recommend her for anyone wanting to take the private tour. The cost was well worth it to as Guia is a lovely woman, who speaks excellent English. LIkewise she has alot of knowledge about the history of the Vatican Museums and the stories behind the religious art. We never felt as if she hurried us along. We recommend her to anyone thinking about this tour.

We are truly grateful to you for your recommendation to fellow travellers to book with us! Guia is a gracious and gloriously amazing guide and she loves nothing more than sharing her vast knowledge with her guests. It's quite incredible what stories lie behind the art works within the museums which one might otherwise miss so having such an experienced guide as companion, really is essential! We will be sure to pass along your lovely words to her and thank you for your 5-star review!

My husband and I took this tour with Guilia from Through Eternity. She is an art historian and gave us the highlights of all of the art in the Vatican museum. She was knowledgeable, helpful and delightful. The Vatican is CRAZY in terms of numbers of visitors and I was happy to have someone to help us navigate it. The lines were also SUPER long, so we were pleased to be able to skip right over that. Totally worth your money to see it this way. Others on our tour felt they wanted a bit more time to look at art, but there is SO MUCH to see I liked having a high level view on this tour with the option to wander alone in the afternoon. We also did a tour of St. Peter's Basilica and of the Sistine Chapel as part of this and Guilia did an excellent job prepping up for what we would see in terms of the art history portion. We are not art buffs, so this was exactly what we were looking for ALSO, you should DEFINITELY go see the Vatican, St. Peters and Sistine Chapel if in Rome - we are not Catholic, so had to no religious need to go, but it is breathtaking and worth the time and money.

Hi Holly, Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience with us and Guia! I am glad you enjoyed her passion for the arts. I actually had the opportunity to follow a tour with her myself, so I understand exactly the level of knowledge and delightfulness you are talking about. A visit to the Vatican is definitely worth it, unfortunately the number of visitors has increased a lot over the years, but thanks to our Silver partnership with them we are guaranteed skip the line tickets and nice entry times. We and our guides always try to tailor our tours to the group of clients on the tours and it's so satisfying to read we got this across during our Vatican tour with you. We truly believe that the combination of the 3 parts of the tour (the museums, the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica) make a perfect triangle to understand the history of the places and enjoy the beauty that it is today. We hope to welcome you again in Italy in the future!
