Syracuse Ortigia and Noto Day Trip from Catania
Aug 2020
Pick up and return on time. Corona-proof travel in these times with 2 mini-vans for 10 people in total, wearing masks inside all the time. Professional and friendly guides. Partly guided tour, partly free time, enough time for questions, time for lunch.

High value full day tour
Aug 2020
Excellent value tour of must-see Syracuse/Ortigia/Noto in one day. Our guide was super nice. The jeep could have been cleaner, and it took a bit to get the tour started (I think we were waiting for another group to join), but couldn't complain for the price.

Really enjoyed this day trip
Oct 2019
I really enjoyed this day trip, especially the Syracuse archaeological park, and the 5th century BC columns that are incorporated into the Cathedral of Syracuse! Definitely a great way to spend a free day after wrapping up three weeks traveling around southern Italy, the Aeolian Islands, and Sicily!

Excellent Experience
Oct 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour to Syracuse, Ortigia and Noto. Our guide/driver Andrea was very helpful, gracious and very nicely managed providing the commentary in both English and French for our diverse small group. The tour itself was well worth it - the visit to the Greek/Roman archaeological park, lunch overlooking the Iberian Sea in Ortigia, and the architecturally unique town of Noto were highlights for us.

Our tour guide was punctual, courteous and knowledgeable. Nando managed to maintain a steady course of the excursion in a very bad and stormy day.

New surprises!
Jul 2019
Noto was a vey great surprises. New face of baroqoue style for us. Neapolis also was a super highlight, we prefer mitology, the parc is beautiful and interesting. Ortigia is a nice city, but unfortunatly we had not enough time discover individually. The visít in Cathedral witlh local guide was very long, more half an hour. Doesn't need! Rather free walk in small streets of city. For our guide, Salvo, we give 5*+. He's excellent 👍👍👍 Generally, program is alsó 5*.

Adequate
Overall we thought the trip, while adequate and as described in the brochure, was expensive (€85 per person) and didn’t offer as much value for money as expected. Unfortunately we couldn’t seem to work out how to get to the locations by train, which would have been our preferred option so it was Hobson’s choice. I will outline our day, and leave it to the reader to decide whether it’s worth the price or not! We were picked up from our Hotel in Catania and joined 6 other passengers in the vehicle, which was a midrange minibus (one of the seatbelts didn’t work however) The driver was pleasant, with a good command of English and told us what the plan for the day was. Initially we drove to Noto, which took about an hour and a half along the motorway, and he gave some information about the history of Sicily. At Noto we were shown the main street, a map was pointed at and we were told there was a Cathedral, a Convent, a Theatre which we could go and look at, and to return in a hour to the vehicle. We then drove towards Syracuse, and our first stop was the Archaeological Park, where we were given tickets & a map and again left to our own devices to wander around and then reconvene with the group at a specified time. We got back in the van, and trundled off to Syracuse and across to Ortigia (a district of Syracuse that is an Island) where we were handed over to another guide and amalgamated into a much larger group (not sure how big but possibly 25 -30 people in total) who took us on a walking tour for an hour to various historical buildings (two of which we went in) Because of the size of the group, and the fact that the guide spoke in everything in English and then again in Italian it was difficult to take it in much of what he said. Once that was over our driver then gave us an hour to wander around, and we took the opportunity to have a drink and something to eat in one of the many seafront restaurants, before returning to the van to drive back to Catania. However, if you take out the cost of the ticket to the Archaeological Park and the walking tour (I’m guessing €30 pp tops) bearing in mind there were 8 of us, it was a really just an expensive taxi ride, particularly as a great deal of it involved us wandering around under our own steam.
