      A joy to visit
This was a fascinating visit - really interesting history and building, filled with lovely things. Excellent tour. Wonderful that it is still a home, lived in and loved. Highly recommend this visit. Allow time to find it - fairly neat the cathedral but in the backstreets

An absolute must when in Palermo
This really is one if not the best tourist attraction we have visited. Although ‘tourist attraction’ doesn’t do it justice, the Palazzo is so much more. We were a small group guided around the house by one of the sons of Conte Federico, this was such a personal experience and allowed us a glimpse of their family home, rooms of which are still used today. We felt very privileged to be allowed to look at the family photos. The rooms are stunning, the ‘hobby’ rooms of his parents filled with pictures, medals, trophies and stories. There are steps up to the tower which houses the kitchen and entertainment room, such a spectacular space, it is worth the climb just to try to lift up one of saucepans! Maya the cat was also a star, barely lifting her head to acknowledge visitors however still receptive to a fuss and a little stroke as we passed by. This is not a museum, you are being taken around a home with a member of the family. We felt honoured to be there. An absolute must.

Worth a Stop, Tricky to Find
Great house tour with insights into the aristocratic life from an actual aristocrat. Unique experience. Came to the house from the Cathedral area and it was a little tricky until we saw signs for it. Allow time to get there as our taxi dropped us off pretty far away.

      Fascinating and personal insights
This is a fascinating tour of an old and fashionable private house. The tours are of small groups (5-8 people) and are led by one of the two sons of the owners. Great insights into the changes over centuries in Palermo. Definitely recommend.

La Contessa is such an interesting woman
We were shown around this beautifully restored palazzo by la Contessa Federico herself. She gave a lot of her time and was very open about what it was like to live her life. Fascinating.

Best historical house tour I’ve ever done!
Hands-down the best historical house tour I’ve been on, and I’ve done many! The Palazzo is extraordinarily beautiful and well-maintained. Especially fantastic is the peek of the old painted ceilings. The tour includes both historic details and personal details about the family. My tour guide was the younger son and the older son sold my ticket. Both were very friendly, unassuming, and warm. I really enjoyed the tour. If you are in Sicily, make a trip to Palermo and see the Palazzo!

Meet a real countess in a beautiful Sicilian palace
This was one of dozens of stops on our Rick Steves' Sicilian tour. Not only was our tour guide Countess Alwine Federico, she served us vino and other libations in one of the dozens of elegant rooms in one of the oldest buildings in Palermo, dating back to the 12th century.

      Fantastic
We visited the palazzo after being invited in to look at the racing car initially. Booked the tour for 6 ladies, it was the best spent €10 each. We were shown around the family who was very knowledgeable about the history of the house , a real real hidden gem. If you’re interested in the Grand Prix this Is an absolute must, as a family winner back in the day This was one of the highlights of our trip 😄

      Great Tour and Beautiful Palace
Nicholas gave us an awesome tour of his palace. Yes, they do live there! The history was very interesting. Seeing this palace was a highlight on our trip. I booked this tour based on other reviews. We were on a cruise and Palermo was one of our stops. We booked our tour directly through them. They responded quickly.

The only place you NEED to visit in Palermo!
YOU MUST GO TO THIS PLACE. I landed in Palermo a total tourist, with no notion of what to see. Luckily, I stumbled across a sign to the Palazzo Conte Federico, and came across a nice young man, standing next to a red racing car. I had no idea what the hell a palazzo was, but decided to give the tour a chance, it was the last one of the day, and they were closed the next day (my only other chance to go, as my stay in Palermo was super short.) First off, you have to understand that a family member gives you a tour of this historical masterpiece hidden in the center of Palermo. Formed around a former Arab watchtower (which you get to see because it’s INSIDE THE GODDAMNED PALAZZO), the palazzo is hundred of years old. It’s incredible family held hosts to people such as Garibaldi, Wagner and Bellini. Each room is filled with treasures from over 400 years of family heirlooms and treasures. The current owner is an 80 year old Italian sportscar driver, and the contessa - a soprano. I got a tour from one of her sons, who looks like a musular Ronan Farrow, and has a sense of class, style and self-respect that is completely foreign to most Americans. He tells stories of each rooms, about the frescoes, the paintings, the weapons - everything. It is easily the best thing I did in Palermo, and I went to the Archeological musum, a puppet show, the tour of the main theatre (terrible - the guides there seem to hate tourists, and vaguely show you a room, tell you something you could wikipedia, and then hastily escort you out), the Cathedral, the Palace and the markets. If you do one thing in Palermo - this is it!

      Thank you, Contessa
A one hour visit, escorted by the Countess was a highlight os the stay in Palermo. The 1200 palace was the house of Frederick II and built atop the city wall. It was later enlarged to include one of the watchtowers. The palace has been totally restored to display the history of the family. Well worth, the time and entry fee.

Wasn’t the easiest place to find, and it’s entrance was a bit dingey and could be off-putting but this was well worth visiting. We really enjoyed it.

Remaining in the family for centuries its history along with information about Palermo was fascinating. The various influences of different cultures over the centuries could be seen throughout with both its architecture and decoration.

We were left only wishing to see a few more rooms! Very pleased we went, but 15 euros was on the pricey side when you can go to the Norman Castle for under 20 which is much larger and gives access to gardens also.

One not to be missed whilst you’re in Palermo!

We visited the Palazzo Conte Federico yesterday and were welcomed by Andreas, who gave us both a fantastic and enthusiastic tour of his family home. Not only did we learn about the history of the city more thoroughly, and the development of the Palace itself, but we really enjoyed hearing about the family and various anecdotes. It felt like a very unique and personal tour (delivered in both Italian and English); much more intimate than any I’ve been on before.

The family are doing a brilliant job and I would thoroughly recommend visiting - certainly a highlight of our stay!

One of the best things we did in Palermo. Fascinating palazzo owned by the same family for centuries. Andrea, the son of the current Count expertly guided us through his family home, giving us an insight into Italian history, and the story of his family. Not to be missed!!!

Though we just turned up few, the visit was extremely well taken care of. An adult son of the 'house' showed us around in a very competent and committed manner, displaying extensive knowledge of the Palazzo and of his family. Questions were welcome and were answered adequately - all in a professional and yet relaxed way. I can highly recommend the visit to anyone who wants to look behind the solid and massive walls of the old Palazzo.

Very well-done tour in English. We fully appreciated the mix of historical information with the family history and details, which really brought the building to life. A definite hidden gem as you get to see a tower and the manor built around it! I would definitely recommend!

We had such a great time touring the home with our teens and young adults while out exploring the city during a day trip on a cruise port stop.
The home is stunning and full of history. The son conducting the tour was funny and engaging intertwining interesting personal stories, Palermo and Sicilian history while delivering in perfect English.
I would highly recommend this one hour tour as party of your day in Palermo.

The tour of this magnificent palazzo, home to the one family for generations. was outstanding largely due to the tour guide who conducted the tour with vitality and energy showing his guests his family home and sharing centuries of family dedication care for this astonishing property. This is a tour simply not to be missed. Lasting exactly one hour, countless rooms were shown and there was ample opportunity to enjoy each room and savour the history.

A visit to make in Palermo for the beauty and variety of the building.
However, I was disappointed with the guided tour which was planned in English and which was done almost exclusively in Italian.. You quickly feel left out and you want to visit alone..
Too bad because this Renaissance palace is worth the detour!

Absolutely memorable visit of an historical building that provides with rich insights into the Conte Frederico and his family. Two sons are giving the tour in Italian and English providing historical details to every rooms. With a remarkable personal touch you learn the long history of this noble family across centuries. The house was once the grand Masonic Lodge of Italy where it’s Grand Worshipful Master was the great unifier of Italy Giuseppe Garibaldi. You can see several Masonic signs if you are attentive.
Highly recommend this visit but be aware the palazzo is closed in January and February.

Great experience recommended to us by our hotel. Andreas gave a fantastic, entertaining and funny tour of his family’s wonderful home, explaining the history in fantastic detail. You really feel like you have stepped back in time to when the Palazzo was still on the banks of the water surrounding the walls, and it was incredible to see all the art, the beautiful frescos, the weapons room. Stunning place, and it feels very personal as the groups are kept to a small size. Highly recommended.
