Excellent guided tour - Elena (our guide) provided all the details explaining Parthenon's history, the changes across the centuries, the invasions, the influences. Tour with lots of information, including pictures/drawings showing how things looked like centuries ago.

Group was small (12-15 people), which brings a more private experience.

A guided tour is a must have experience when you visit Parthenon, you will lose so many details if you just go on your own. Allow yourself to spend a few euros more and have such in-depth experience to know about its history, to "feel it" and not just "see it".

And no questions Athens Walking Tours have the best guided tour!

This was an amazing 1.5 hour tour, our tour guide ( Kornila ) was extremely informative and friendly. Our group was a manageable 10 people. I recommend doing this as early as possible as it gets very busy ( and hot ) later. It's 40 years since I was last there, I now have a much greater appreciation of the history of this architectural marvel.

We took a private tour of the Acropolis with our guide, Chrysa. She was extremely informative. In fact, we she was so thorough that when we went to the Acropolis museum the next day, we were already familiar with almost everything contained on the various historical placards throughout the museum. She spoke slowly so that everyone could follow along, and was extremely engaging and interactive with the group. Now that I've seen the Acropolis with a tour guide, I can't imagine doing it without one. You will learn so much more with someone explaining the history and geography of the area. Efharisto poli, Chrysa!

This tour is fine, you get a knowledgeable guide who can explain the history and architecture of the Parthenon very well. We were a group of 8, and expected a private guide. However, we were merged with others to make a group of 20 people, so for 1.5 hours they earned around £500. You need to pay your own entry to the site on top of the fee.
Just checked Withlocals as an option where they would charge 14.50 per person for a group of 8 (again with the entry fee on top)

Thank you for your comment! We are glad you enjoyed the tour with your guide. All of our guides are excellent licensed professionals with a great passion for their job. You chose to participate in a small-group tour of maximum 22 people. On our site there is always the option of a private guided tour, for all our tours, should you wish one. We are sorry you felt that the tour was overpriced and crowded, since all the fees (public and private tours + sites' entrance fees) and the maximum number of participants are also explicitly stated on our site. We strive for excellence and the best experience possible for our guests, and that is why all our guides are licensed and highly knowledgeable, in order for you to gain a deeper understanding of the legacy of Acropolis, far beyond the information included in the history books. We hope your overall stay in Athens was great!

We started our stay and visit to Athens by going on this guided tour, and it was the best decision we could make. We got great insights on the city and its history, and a detailed and calm walkthrough throughout the Acropolis. We also got lucky since the Acropolis, though with a lot of people, was not extremely crowded, and the weather was cloudy, which provided us with a comfortable visit.

Also, a word of support to Amaryllis, our guide, which has a great English and huge knowledge of Athens and the Acropolis.

Overall, going on this tour was the best decision I could take to have a thorough and detailed understanding of the Acropolis, instead of walking freely around there.

This is a great way to see the Acropolis so that you know exactly what you are looking at. Vicky was an amazing local guide. We got queue skip tickets, the tour starts at 11.30 am and last for around 1.5 hrs. You get to visit the Acropolis, Parthenon, Erechtheion, Propylaia, Nike Temple, the Dionysus Theater and Sanctuary. Our group was 10 people from all over the world! Vicky answered all my questions and even gave me some great Greek recommendations too! I did the Walking Food Tour with Despina previously and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND both for an extremely cultural experience with absolute expert local guides. It was very COVID safe and you could easily hear Vicky word for word with masks on :)))

Thank you for your awesome review! So glad to read that you have participated in our historical and our gastronomy tours and you have enjoyed them both! Vicky is indeed a great guide, always enthusiastic and ready to share her passion and knowledge with our customers! We always keep our groups small and of course, during COVID-19 era we keep the social distances and the health protocols in order to offer an amazing and 100% safe tour experience for all! Hope to see you again in Athens!

Very good trip. Started at 8.30am to beat queues , a small. Group of 12. Guide very pleasant and informative, use of audio devices essential as it was very noisy and windy at top of Acropolis. Good detailed descriptions of the main edifices and the time of 1 hour 45 about right. As we were leaving the queues of people gathering at entrances were very heavy. Would definitely recommend.

This tour was just “OK’ - on the verge disappointing to be honest. The tour guide makes/breaks these types of walking tours and our guide was simply not very good. He lacked enthusiasm for the topic and really didn’t add much in the way of context to the walking portion of the tour.

Dina was a vibrant and engaging tour guide. I was surprised to learn she wasn’t Greek (by birth) because she was so enthusiastic about the history of all the sites we visited. I guess one could say she had the zeal of a convert. She is definitely Greek at heart !

She was warm and humorous and ensured that looking at a bunch of millennia-old rubble, relics, and structures in various states of repair was never simple. She breathed life into them and made them come alive. She went the extra mile on this experience.

This tour has been one of the many great things I was able to experience in Athens and I highly recommend it if your health allows !

Additionally, she had many great recommendations for where the locals go to eat and drink if you are looking for an experience that more authentically reflects daily life of modern Athenians if you are looking to avoid establishments that cater more to tourists.

Our guide gave us a good tour of Plaka with some explanation about some of the monuments that were there, before going on to the Acropolis.

However some of the information she gave was not correct, like the time it took for the Acropolis to be finished and the fact that there was a calendar where a month was appointed to each god. Apollo is for instance January to March for us.

She was either new or very uncertain, however the tour was still enjoyable. The tour was a bit short and quite expensive for what we got.
We did however book late and this one was all that was left.
