Danish Hygge Culture and Historical Copenhagen Walking Tour
Low Price Guarantee
Take a deep dive into the Danish concept of hygge on this Copenhagen walking tour. Most often translated as "coziness," the concept is important to Danish culture, and understanding it helps travelers get a handle on the ways of the Danes. Through a guide's commentary and stops at off-the-beaten-path historical sites you may have missed on your own, come to a deeper understanding of the city, country, and its people.
What to Expect
Meet your guide and group near Nyboder, a neighborhood chock-full of 17th-century yellow houses. Walk down small streets you may not have found otherwise, listening to commentary on the concept of hygge, a quality important to Danish culture. Stop at a coffee shop for a coffee and pastry, and then head for Rosenborg Palace Gardens (Kongens Have), also known as the King’s Garden. There, explore the quaint space and hear how it became an early public park. Wander down some of the city’s oldest streets and stop at an organic chocolate shop for a tasting of its homemade candy. Cross the popular pedestrian street, Strøget, lined with elements of Danish design that typify hygge. Learn about Danish government and how the country is influenced by hygge. Stop by one more cozy, quaint garden before finishing up in a local cafe with a better understanding of hygge in all its forms. The tour ends in central Copenhagen.

I did the Hygge walking tour with Sandra and we were a group of 7 guests. The tour was a very pleasant way to see the northern part of the City Centre (Indre By) down to the Southern part (not quite as far as Tivoli)...More
A great review with Jebby. It took me a while to find the meeting location but once I did we got going for a great stroll through the king’s garden, enjoying danish treats along the way! A great group too
Pauline was amazing I couldn't have had a better experience with my mom. I learned so much about the Danish life and what truly hygge was. I'm so glad, and I really got such a great understanding of not just hygge, but Copenhagen, and the...More

Whether our Hygge & Happiness tour, which is 3.5 hours long and not a full day tour, is wheelchair accessible is hard to say. It depends on the wheelchair and your needs, we have some cobblestones yes on the tour that we can mostly avoid if need be. The biggest issue for wheelchair users is that we're entering 3 places that all have a couple of steps to enter and hence, those places are not wheel chair accessible. If you're able to take appx. 3 steps, then the tour is accessible for you.

Hi. It really depends on what port you're docking at! We have 3 docks in Copenhagen, Langelinie, Oceankaj and Nordre Toldbod. Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod is only 15 minutes walk from our meeting point, but Oceankaj is further away and there you'll need a taxi that will cost around DKK120 or a train to Østerport Station that will cost DKK24. If you take the train, remember to buy your ticket before entering the train. Østerport Station is only 5 minutes away from the meeting point. Hope this helped. All the best, Lars

Hi Gita, To get to the meeting point from Bella Sky you're taking the Metro line toward Vanløse and get off at Nørreport Station. Here you change train to any S-train toward Østerport Station and then you're only 5 minutes walk from the meeting point. When you arrive to Østerport Station, I recommend to use your GPS and put in Krokodillegade 21 and follow the directions. Remember to buy a ticket before you enter any public transportation! Please let me know if you have any further questions, thank you. All the best, Lars
