Do The North provided almost everything we needed for an amazing week in the wilderness of the archipelago:
- Knowledgeable and fun guides (who know how to guide rather than lead)
- High quality kayaks and camping equipment
- Restaurant quality food, cooked in the wild
All we had to bring was ourselves, a few clothes and an eager attitude.
The hardest part of the week was answering the question 'what could we improve?'
Easily the best guided trip I've ever been on, and I don't think it can be beaten.
Special thanks to Thomas and Phil for being amazing!

As I packed for my return journey home I caught a botanical scent on my clothing-pine and brackish water wafting through the tent on an early morning wind - a reminder of the comforts of nature and the elements of the trip: atmospheric misty morning paddles, the uplifting rowdy sea of our final channel crossing, a foggy midnight paddle full of laughter and smiles, lounging on smooth hot rocks after the surprise of the Baltic Sea being warm…excellent equipment and food meant we were wanting for nothing, our bellies full, we were free to enjoy nature. What makes it all special though is the ethos of Do the North and the people working in it. Thomas and Stine guided our trip. I came away thinking, wow those are really cool, humble and likeable people that I am glad I got to know. Stine, our gracious navigator was always encouraging and patient, sensitive to how people are doing, and celebratory and appreciative of everyone’s small wins, whether it was successful participation in cooking, correctly identifying our position on a map, putting up your own tent or a joke well told. Thomas, brought the islands to life with tales of lives lived through all seasons, has a sense of fun and play that ensured there was never a dull moment and has a generosity of spirit that makes everyone feel a part of things. I can’t imagine a better organised trip.
Thank you Stine and Thomas,

This was the most fantastic experience from start to finish. It was so well organised and we couldn’t have asked for better or nicer guides (Tim and Stina). The distances we covered were just right and it was lovely that it was up to us how much kayaking we wanted to do. The scenery was breathtaking (especially the paddle at night watching the sunset) and it was so peaceful. We saw eagles, ate like royalty (wasn’t expecting that), and our group was wonderful. There were English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Swiss and Swedish on our group. After the initial shyness on arrival we all got in brilliantly, told stories under the stars, laughed and danced and shared something magical together. Thank you so much. It has also given back my confidence and belief that I can do anything. I’m already looking into which trip I can do next. Thank you.

I wish I could actually give six points out of five! It was all that I expected, and then some (a lot) more.
Very friendly, fast, and factual information provided before the trip, to start with. We had top quality kayaks and outdoor equipment waiting for us when we arrived at the launch spot on Wednesday (which is the usual start date for guided trips). I was just a bit surprised that a good half of space in kayaks was taken by fresh food but then remembered that it was one of the elements that Do The North is well recognised for: food matters, as simple as that. And good food matters even more to turn a good trip into a perfect one, which was easier since Rob, our guide, had worked as a chef and cooking meals from scratch in the outdoor seemed to be as easy for him as if he were doing it in a starred restaurant. And since I am a vegetarian, I really really appreciate how well my food tasted:)
We all had different kayaking experience but with all the guidance and information provided by Rob we all felt confident to set off. Next days were a complete bliss, with fantastic views, paddling between islands and looking for animals, birds, and nice spots to stop for lunch or for the night. Morning swims, evening paddling, shooting stars, rainbows - we had it all.
A trip definitely worth taking, and then looking to some other ones, such as the photography workshop which must be so much fun. Big thanks to Do The North for making such trips happen, and to Rob for being a perfect guide!

Thank you Magda for taking your time to write such a nice and long review! Super stoked that you had a great holiday. Rob was also super excited when he came back and was buzzing for days. You definitely had all the possible weathers you could get out there, storm, rain, thunder and sunshine – good meals definitely help out when you’re waiting out the rain under a tarp. Take care and hope to see you soon! /Thomas

I booked a solo traveller guided tour with Do the north. The booking process is great, they provide you with a "intranet" access where you get all the information for the trip. The kayak trip in itself was amazing. The archipelago is beautiful and unspoilt and it was a bliss to kayak from island to island and set up camp wherever we wanted. The material is very good and in top condition. Our guides Stine and Thomas really knew how to bring the group together and make everybody feel at ease and safe (so much at ease that we invented Kayak Karaoke..). The food was delicious and varied, and the whole experience was just a lot of fun! You can't go wrong by booking with Do the North. I highly recommend them and can't wait to come back.

What an amazing adventure! This trip was exceptionally well organised, lead by knowledgeable, fun and entertaining guides and had everything you would expect from 5 days kayaking through a beautiful archipelago!

Camping with the highest quality equipment, top notch food (we thought they should write a camping cook book, it was that good!) and paddling around in the best kayaking gear made the trip one to remember. There was very little to worry about. Everything had been thought through, from the freshly brewed coffee in the morning to a sneak visit to the island with a local pub!

Being a solos trip (travelling with my brother) meant we got to meet a bunch of cracking people. Mixing up who we paddled with in our double kayaks meant we got to know a lot about each other in a short space of time.

All in all, highly recommended for anyone looking for something a bit more adventurous!

Amazing kayak trip around the St Grytt and Anna archipelagos guided by Stine and Tim. The trip was led at a relaxing pace, with opportunities to do more exploring in the afternoon/evening for those that wished; this included a beautiful evening sunset kayak! The scenery and wild camping spots were stunning, and the food was incredible (far better than I prepare in a fully equipped kitchen at home!) Meals included Swedish meatballs, fish stew, butternut squash curry, French toast, frittatas and more. I would definitely recommend this company, trip and guides to any traveller!

I booked a tour in the beginning of September and our tour guides were Time and Stine. It was definitely one of the best holidays I ever had and a unique life experience that I will remember. Everything in the tour was very well organized by the Do The North team. The provided equipment (tents, sleeping bags, kayak) was of great quality and also in very good condition, just as it is described on the website (the solo tents are fantastic!). This alone would make it worth to book this tour.

But you get way more: Tim and Stine gave us tips on how to paddle and explained to us all that we needed to know. From navigation with the maps to setting up the tents. They even organized a visit to a pub on an island for us. But even through it is a guided tour, it feels very much like a group project and you get a lot of freedom on how to organize everything. The guides are just like more experienced participants in the group. So it may even be suitable for people who usually don't like guided tours.

I would definitely recommend booking a tour with Do The North. They know what they are doing. Thank you for the good tour and showing me a part of Sweden!

Thank you so much for all your kind words, I'll be sure to pass them on to Stine & Tim! Also very happy to hear in your words what we're trying to achieve with our guided trips! That all of you are out on an adventure together as a team rather than a stricter divide guide/guests! Hope to see you again some day!

I have just returned from the 5 day guided kayak trip in the Swedish archipelago. This is one of the BEST holidays I have ever been on. Very professional outfit, great support prior to the trip, excellent equipment during, top quality meals that surpass any camping trip I have done before and amazing scenery. The kayaking was suitable for novices and experienced paddlers alike. Cant thank our guides Stine and Tim enough for making the trip so enjoyable. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone considering and will certainly be regaling my time on it for years to come.

I am not a seasoned outdoor camper and I can't remember if I had ever been in a kayak before, but Do the North welcomed beginners so I dove right in. And the word "welcome" does not even start to express how this trip and these guides, Rob and Alex, take care of you. Not only do they make you feel safe and comfortable in and around the kayaks, they also made this book worm feel confident in camping outdoors for several nights in a row. Not to mention that they know the best places to camp in the amazing and beautiful St Anna archipelago. And don't get me started on the meals they prepared for us - they are both chefs and I am very happy we did so much paddling since we did so much eating. The archipelago has perfect places to view the sunset - these guys add a cheese plate! It really felt like hanging out with friends. This trip was worth every penny and I am already looking to find dates to go again. Thank you so much for an AMAZING trip!
